Tower Behind the Moon — Seize godhood with world-shattering magic!

We’re proud to announce that Tower Behind the Moon, the latest in our popular “Choice of Games” line of multiple-choice interactive-fiction games, is now available for Steam, Android, and on iOS in the Choice of Games Omnibus app. It’s 30% off until December 27th!

You are the greatest magician in the Sublunar World. It is not enough. As a rare Conjunction approaches, immortality is within reach. But the gods have noticed you trying to unlock the doors of heaven. Some demand you ascend–or else–while others plot your destruction. There are only two paths for you now, archmage: immortality or annihilation.

Tower Behind the Moon is a 400,000-word interactive epic fantasy novel by Kyle Marquis, where your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

You have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transcend your mortal state one month from now, in the tower where your magic is strongest. Miss this celestial conjunction and you will die. As you prepare for your ascension, however, you battle increasing dangers.

Your tower is your sanctum, but also a target for enemies you’ve made over a lifetime of treasure hunting, sorcery, and war. Angels and demons haunt your workshop while mortal princes demand favors and concessions. Your servants–themselves half-gods or more–fight for your attention and scheme to claim the tower for themselves. And the wretched shade of your mentor, who failed to ascend, hints that something out of your past plans to destroy your future.

You hold the keys to heaven, hell, and the outer darkness. You just need to find the door.

• Play as male, female, or nonbinary, gay, straight, bi, or ace.
• Choose from five different magical paths, each with unique servants and spells.
• Travel from the forgotten castles of the underworld to heaven’s crooked back-alleys.
• Face mad dragons, ruthless angels, cultists, and whole kingdoms of the dead.
• Be dreadful and monstrous, or subtle and ruthless.
• Uncover the true history of your tower, your mentor, and your long-lost adventuring companions.
• Maintain your humanity or abandon the fetters of reason.
• Comfort the afflicted or vaporize the annoying.
• Dare to seek love at the end of your mortal existence.
• Become a demon, a god, an undead lich, a shining immortal, or a living continent–if you succeed.

Your weapon: magic. Your enemy: the gods. Your goal: immortality.

I love this game so, so much. I don’t want to say too much until more people have had the chance to play through it, but it’s so fabulous! I think it’s taken its place as my favourite game in the CoG catalogue thus far. Super unique, amazing storytelling, lots of replayability; it’s brill. :D

What does the ‘heavy’, ‘light’ stats mean?

I think it has something to do with speed or gracefulness?

Ok…so I am trying to increase heavy stat but I don’t know what to do. I was able to do it one time when I transformed to kill the druid.

Curses! This game is 2$ over my remaining monthly budget!
Oh well, I’ll buy it anyway

What does the heavy and light stat mean

I think they represent your physical attributes. So a character with high “Light” is agile and moves quickly, while a “Heavy” character is strong.

How do I get good at researching things on my own what stats do I need

I think that’s related to a high inscrutable stat. From my playthroughs, it seems like that stat is more related to magic knowledge. I don’t know for certain though, since I haven’t tested it.

My allies are dying…the duchess just died…is it possible to save her?

Thanks so much insctruable relates to magic knowledge

If you’re talking about during the final battle in the tower with your nemesis, I think you can give characters a higher survival chance by ordering other character to protect them. So having the angel protect the Duke night help.

Are you certain that their survival is not dependent on the relationship between us???
And
Is it possible to achieve full immortality without killing everyone and absorbing them?
And I have many more questions…

It’s always possible that both are factors. But I think I managed to save the Duke with a mediocre relationship after directing the angel to protect him during one of the fight sequences. I also got a full ascension without killing everyone. I ended up letting the Duke die while saving the town to save energy though. Having a balance compassionate/ruthless stat really helps. In game terms, that means no greater than 65, no less than 35, and selecting the Solar Logii during ascension.

Does anyone have any advice on raising the angel’s relationship stat? I’ve tried a compassionate playthrough and one focused on ascension, I haven’t been able to get it higher than 55. I’ll be honest I’m just trying to successfully romance them

Bind the angel on sight. Free your mentor. And be subtle or personable.
