Dare to Dream - Work in Progress

@wolfwriter20

both origins I played felt right for what they were, the Adanna secretary one was slower story wise but that was to be expected. The Koroko one is more action packed but you are a soldier so again that’s to be expected.

The only issue I’d say I had was if you choose the sniper rifle, you can either fire on them then or go around I chose go around expecting a option of taking a better shot or at least spotting some hidden enemies but other than that both were very good.

Spoiler alert

I liked that the Adanna was like a frustrated office worker cumulating with the big escape at the end, slow but very relatable a more human story than the Korkoro
like who works in an office setting and doesn’t feel the same way as her
like a robot doing what’s expected, I felt that way last time I worked in an office

And the Korkoro was the big conflicted warrior doing his thang
faster with more action and big guns and the super sweet captain Sarah
And that bastard leonidas I don’t even know why I hate him I just do
(I’m a bastard so I can say it lol )
it really was like a video game
At the end I was like noooo I can’t save both of my friends arrrgh
it’s the walking dead game all over again then
BOOM into the Thames river ewwww I KNOW what’s in there

I hope my guy gets a good cleaning after that like were talking full decontamination here

Not to mention there is a whole other robot to play as ( can’t wait for that one by the way )
and the different jobs that all three of them have, Korkoro in Vegas awesome

There both great story’s in two very different ways.

I dislike Bering forces to romance the capin

@Mardam

You weren’t forced to romance the captain you would flirt with an adanna in your squad

@Nocturnal_Stillness

Thank you for the feedback. Yeah, the sniper part needs work…it puts you in an entirely different location than the other weapons, so it should have a slightly different set of options. I actually forgot to make a proper transition the first time for sniper, it would go from you being on the roof with 853 to crouching next to the captain on the street…oops :stuck_out_tongue:

@Pale_Strider

I think it is interesting that you hate Leonidas already. I can’t wait to see what you think of him as the game goes on… XD

I’m glad you felt conflicted at the end. It was what I was going for, but then there is the possibility that you are actually rivals with the other Korkoro or have had barely any interaction with him based on your choices of what to do with your free time.

@Everyone
Who did you save at the end?

@Mardam

You are in no way forced to romance the Captain. If she leaves from your night-time conversation together in a good mood, then it asks you if you have feelings for her, to which you can say that whether you do or don’t. Then, even if you do have feelings for her, if you go and see her during your free time you have the option to express your feelings to her if you want. She initially misunderstands you meaning, giving you the opportunity to back out or confirm having feelings for her.

@wolfwriter20

what it may be worth considering is if the player choses to move around offer them three different points to go to, then let each point have its own choice

ie it could branch like this…

You’re crouching with 853 and see your squad and those rogue megaloids

choices are 1) fire on them (results in second choice aim to kill/incapcitate) 2)move round the left side (results in a 2nd choice of fire with more kills or move on to where the Captain is) 3)move ahead (results in a 2nd choice of taking out some flanking megaloids or move to where the captain is or 4) move to the right (results in a 2nd choice either take out flanking megaloids or shooting a fuel depot/recharging station for the enemy megaloids -both result in you returning to the captain’s side)

I saved the Captain partly because my megaloid had feelings for her but also because I kinda hoped 953( i think it was) would some how survive long enough for me to help both (ironically i made that choice several times in TWD game lol)

I know people like leonidas so I hate his type
I’m a skinny artist so everytime I run into a big macho type guy they give me soooo much trouble
You know guys who if you offer to shake there hand
they crush your hand Into a small claw like shape “um sir I’m going to need that hand back”

And I saved captain Ross play 1 and 3
The Korkoro buddy play 2, I figured he knew what he was getting into charging the enemy like that, that’s a suicide (save yourselves) move

Plus it seems like Ross is the nicest human around or at least the nicest that I have met so far.

@Nocturnal

Those are good ideas…I think that also gives the player a little more use of the sniper rifle, because in the approach on the Palace of Westminster you can only use the pistol. I will begin working on that for the next patch.

And I know what you guys mean with the walking dead game…that game is brutal when it comes to making life or death decisions for other people.

@Pale_Strider

Leonidas is definitely a bully, and a gigantic pain in the ass. I can’t think of a single instance he is nice to you, even if you side with the humans. At best, he tolerates you…but that is just because he is the Megaloid version of Colonel Dresden.

I have the feeling that most people will choose to save the Captain on their first play-through, as what they really want to do. 935 is cool and all, but Sarah is just so cool (in my opinion) and relatable, and fills that role of a sympathetic human that players were wanting…

And she pretty much is the nicest human around. I don’t think you can get much nicer than her.

I saved the robot

Yeah the walking dead game is the only console game I have played since August
Probably the longest I have gone since my first playstation broke and I had to save up for a new one

If only I could find a way to draw and play a game at the same time

Hm, after playing though the Korkoro story there are a few comments I have. It’s quite good over all, but I do agree that it’d be interesting if you could form a relationship with someone other than the captain. Just because you’re a megaloid who hates all humans doesn’t mean you don’t have emotions. It’d be cool if you could get to know the rest of your squad a little better, at least give them names the first time you mean them. The rookie only get a name the second time you talk to her and then, depending on your choice for how to deal with the four renegades, either gets automatically killed (That sniper is really bad at picking targets), or just disappears, which was kind of disappointing because I thought it would have been really interesting to see how a “young” megaloid develops in this kind of situation. I had no idea what the other Korkoros were called until they were dead since the only time you interact with them is when they’re grouped up at the beginning, and I didn’t talk to them. 853 seems like she could be interesting at first, but she does only slightly more than the Korkoros in that she’s actually mentioned a couple of times, then she gets blown up off screen… I guess this is a bit involved for an introduction, but it does seem like there’s all this undeveloped potential here for some really interesting stories.

Er, one last thing. It might be good to explain why it is that the captain is fine if you rescue her immediately, but bleeding internally and can’t even be moved if you save the SL first. It seems like it’d take half the time to save her when you’re both trying to, and it’s not like anything worse apparently happened to her. In TWD it’s made clear, at least after the fact, that you didn’t have time to save the other person. In this situation the Captain seems to be killed by plot necessity.

You have to understand that this is just an intro, a setup for your character…you have minimal interaction with most of your squad because they just are not important to the overall game. You have the choice to interact with them during your free time, but then the point is that pretty much all of them get killed and that is what leads the Korkoro soldier to being a part of a particular faction. So spending another week coding to build relations with characters that aren’t vital to the plot other than defining what kind of character your Korkoro is going to be, didn’t seem very necessary. The important characters from the beginning: Captain Ross, 935, Leonidas, Colonel Dresden, and you.

I actually really like the sniper girl. I’m pretty sure that if I can do it plausibly, she didn’t die in the explosion. So, if I can work that, you will see more from her.

I do understand what you are looking for. But just like the first demo, this is basically a sampler platter, setting up for the main plot/experience.

There will be plenty of romance options throughout the game. This was not the focus of the demo. It was supposed to give you a sample of what that can be like as well as what combat would be like. Again, it is limited because it is just an intro for your character.

**spoilers**

As for the Captain at the end, she is supposed to be injured about the same as when you save her; it isn’t her injuries that are the problem, but that the C-4 is about to explode. So she orders 935 to take you out of there, and he drags you away while you tell her that you can still save her. If you choose to save her, when you are recovered from the river you will find that she is in rough condition.

I liked the sniper girl to it would be cool if you could work that in

The sniper would have taken an overwatch position
on the roof or in a near by building with a good line of sight
and probably would have missed being caught in the explosion

Unlike you who charged in to disarm the bomb

I would just like to point out that fire doesn’t set C-4 off.

What if instead of disarming it
They froze it
It would still be active it just wouldn’t go off right away
And when it warmed up (fire) BOOM

@wolfwriter20 lighting the C-4 with a match will just make it burn slowly,Only a detonator, or blasting cap will do the job properly. http://science.howstuffworks.com/c-42.htm

Ah okay, you are right about that. Thanks for the link @tfahy96

I will either change what type of explosive is used entirely, or have that one of the revolutionaries had a remote detonator I think.

@Pale_Strider It’s specifically noted that 843 or whatever her name was is in the building with you and stays with the humans. So since you fail to disarm the bomb, it only makes sense that she’d get blown up too. Or at least it would if it made sense for the bomb to explode from the fire. :stuck_out_tongue: Of course we have no idea what happened to her after we left the room so she could easily have been in a position to survive by the time the bomb exploded.

Even if you don’t want to give more development to the characters it would make sense to at least mention the fate of the rookie if you skip the first fight. She doesn’t get sniped, but it seems like the game assumes she had been. It’d be easy to just say she died on the way like those other two, or better yet actually mention how the squad-mates die, to give the deaths a bit more impact. It was rather disconcerting on my first play through where I was chatting with the rookie as we walked only to have her vanish the moment we avoided the fight. I guess the way I’m looking at it, having a bunch of choices of intro isn’t really worth it if the rest of the game ends up being the just the same regardless.

I already said that I would change that about the bomb. Let it go.

I will add more for the rookie, I realize that she does disappear (at least, she is not mentioned again). And the rest of the game does not end up the same regardless, you are not listening to what I am saying. The beginning defines your character, where your allegiances lie, your personality, etc. Not once did I say things would ‘turn out the same regardless’.
