Consolidated Collaboration Discussion Thread

In case that means you consider joining the project I’ll try to figure out how to get you added to the PM-thread so you can get an idea of what exactly we’re looking for. It does have to fit in with the other stuff.

In case I misinterpreted the message, please tell me, or else I’m going to get my hopes up for nothing .

I’ve tried group projects before… once on here. None really panned out due to lack of communication and general cohesion.

But am hopeful that someday I’ll be able to work in a well led group. Though at the moment bound to a few lovely projects.

Still doesn’t stop me from dreaming about a monstrous fantasy verse where the race chosen leads one through an entirely different path. A project way too big for one.

You know what would be cool? Here’s the idea. Two writers come together. Choose a story they wanna write, for this example let’s say there’s a bad guy called Douchesnozzle and he wants to take over the world. So it’s up to a bunch of people to come together to stop him. Now the writers, let’s call ’ em Dog and Cat, write the story of their protagonist.

So Dog decides to write a protag who Douchesnozzle shot and left for dead but somehow that protag who we shall call protag1 survives. Protag1 now goes on an adventure, where he/she meets interesting allies and enemies, and trains to become stronger, blah blah blah. All this to get revenge on Douchesnozzle and save the world.

Cat writes a protag, who we shall call protag2. Protag2 comes from a village far away from protag1. He/she lives peacefully and the cliché thing happens where Douchesnozzle’s henchmen attack the village, killing everyone dear to protag2. Protag2 escapes. Now he/she goes on their own adventure encountering allies and enemies along the way. To also get revenge on Douchesnozzle and save the world.

Chapter 1 would be protag1, chapter 2 is protag2, chapter 3 is protag1 and so on. That way the writers can work on their own for the start only really meeting to get lore right and not using the same named variables and all that shiz. Eventually somewhere in the middle, closer to the end, the protags meet. This is when the writers would have to work together. Both protags bring their own allies along and they go off to fight Douchesnozzle. They would no longer be separated by chapters and you’d be switching back and forth a lot. Easy way to tell who you’re playing would be by having the name of the protag being currently played in bold at the top of the page, plus the writing style would be different.

I want this story now.

Could the villain actually be named Douchenozzle? I feel like I could get behind a megalomaniacal conqueror named Douchenozzle.

Douchenozzle will mess you up. Douchenozzle don’t care.

@BabbleYaggle I guess it could happen. Either Douchesnozzle embraces his douchey-ness and calls himself Douchsnozzle or his parents were dicks. :joy:

@Snoe not sure if you meant you are too busy or you would be happy to do something? Cecilia is our leader and we are progressing well on our game yet we are still looking for 1-2 extra stories (I will end up writing one after the 15th of Jan if nobody else does…). The project will be finished (felicity is also in it and she seems to be one of those people who pushes for projects to be completed!!)

The Community Forum Game/Bookshop Game is a game that Cecilia is currently leading. I’m standing by in case she falters, but she’s looking awesomely in control and the game as a whole is progressing slowly but not faltering. (My goal with Starship Adventures was to get it done FAST before everyone lost enthusiasm. This game is progressing more slowly but will be longer. I’m confident it’ll still get finished.)

The VERY fast summary is that there are several stories in different genres with a real-world protagonist travelling through them in order to find his/her/their uncle, who is in one of the fictional worlds somewhere for some reason (spoilers…) There is an overall plot which progresses in the real world between the “books” (each of which stands alone, BUT has shared stats and glimpses of a shared baddie and Something Awry) and there is a climax in the bookshop at the end.

I’m not starting anything else until it’s done :slightly_smiling:

Right at this point I’m unfortunately tied up with my own works. I’d love to do a group thing someday but sadly at this moment I couldn’t give it the attention such a project deserves.

Though once I’m finished I’d be more than happy to participate in future group projects.

Hi All –

What “group” games are happening at the moment?

I ask because, you all need to be aware, publishing a game is a serious legal and tax related undertaking. While it’s all well and good to have a game that’s written by people all over the globe, in order for it to be published, there are legal issues relating to Intellectual Property and taxing authorities that have to be sorted out.

For example, FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE you may have to FILE FORMS with me EVERY YEAR.

If you’ve never published a game with us before, and you want to participate in a group game that intends to be published, please check in with me first.

Andy and I are working on a series together, but the first installment is just written by me and the second is just written by Andy.

The thing we dubbed “Forum Community Game” for a working title is a joint project which thus far includes contributions from @Felicity_Banks, @adrao and me, and with @fantom hopefully still working on something. Oh, and it was originally @addicted’s idea. (If I’ve missed anyone, please PM me.)

There are several free Apps to generate names. Just search for “name generator”

This thread is the new home for all collaborative game development discussion.
