How’s this gonna affect Choice of the Vampire?
It won’t as far as I’m aware. Choice of the Vampire is it’s own thing, and isn’t connected to the new Vampire the Masquerade games at all.
As a huge fan of WoD I’m super excited for this game!!!
By Cain, I’ve just read the Steam description for Parliament of Knives.
Playable Ventrue and Nosferatu?
Our own Ghoul?
God, Christmas is coming…
Nosferatu characters will be able to command their own fully customizable rat familiar to spy for them, by the way. ![]()
And your ghoul/manservant Gerard can have his capabilities changed during the first chapter when you choose his background from before he came into your service (butler with high society connections, ex-soldier for a major crime syndicate, or a brilliant financial assistant who can help with money flow and tracking down the funneling of dirty money.
Uh…I…hell yes!
…I need to sit down…
I’m totally gonna have the ex-soldier for my Ventrue playthrough as my bodyguard! And headcanon him as 6’9" tall…will this game have a Beta test? Because this is a Vampire fan’s dream, haha!
Bummer that my babies the Tremere aren’t an option. At least I can be a Nosferatu, I’d rather sun myself than be caught as a Ventrue or Toreador
This is awesome and congratulation for this. I definitely gonna play when the game come out. Also hope more projects like this will happen especially my biggest dream is seeing choice of game can work with bioware in dragon age. That’s will be awesome. In the end congratulation and CoG👍🏻
@Moochava I have to ask, what kind of car(s) will be be driving in Night Road?
The car briefly shown in the cover image looks like it could be a muscle car…my fingers are definitely crossed for that!
You begin Night Road stranded on the side of the road outside Tucson and pick up a loaner from a contact in town. But once you’ve made a few deliveries, you can move up to Porsches and Audis, Mustangs and GT-Rs. Yes, the 1970 Dodge Challenger is in there—though I still need to add the Corvette from the trailer! And if you turn someone into a ghoul, they come with their own cars as well, from the hunter’s '67 Impala to the research scientist’s, uhhh, lemon yellow Fiat.
Also on the road, driven by enemies or allies: a Ford Fairlane, a Toyota AE86, a '65 Chrysler 300 big enough to transport entire coteries, the Prince’s 1925 Rolls-Royce Phantom I coupé (with Rolls-Royce Merlin airplane engine), and—if you trash all your other rides and run out of money—a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Diesel with a broken radio.
Do I know anything about cars? No.
Do I love when I get to see anything relating to Arizona mentioned in a game? Yes.
If I wasn’t sure about whether or not I wanted to play this, I sure as hell am now, even if Tucson is only mentioned for a minute.
…I’m buying this game on all storefronts.
That is an impressive list! I was expecting just one car…damn, this is gonna be one hell of a ride.
Anyone from the Breach RPs will tell you that is my specific favorite car in existence. Hearing this simply delights me. At this point, I’m just getting overwhelmed. All three of these games are shaping up to be everything I could want from this universe.
I appreciate the timely response! Any word on playable clans in this one?
It has been sometime since I played VTM, but aren’t vampire hunters hopelessly outmatched by vampires? I remember then being more of an annoyance than a threat, except in large numbers.
Clans definitely included: Ventrue, Toreador, Gangrel, Brujah, Banu Haqim (“Assamites”). I’m also looking to include Tremere and Caitiff, maybe one or two more clans—maybe later on, maybe as DLC? Part of that decision rests with the editors. The only main clans that won’t be available are Malkavians (too much work to rewrite all the text for their “unique” viewpoint!) and Nosferatu (you spend too much time around regular people and I don’t want to constantly track your disguise level).
While we’re at it—Disciplines (which VTM players will recognize) include Protean, Presence, Potence, Obfuscate, Fortitude, Dominate, Celerity, Blood Sorcery, Auspex, and Cool Wolf Friend (Animalism).
Oh wow it’s nice to finally talk about this.
Ventrue and Gangrel! Excellent! The Malk and Nos exclusions are definitely understandable. Hopefully you can add the Tremere since Blood Sorcery is already in the game.
It’s nice to learn about it! Looking forward to your work again, and in one of my favorite settings nonetheless!
You mentioned we can turn people into ghouls? What’s the actual mechanic behind that? Is it only a select couple of people who then become our ghoul companion?
Night Road has three characters you can potentially turn into ghouls: a pawnbroker and petty criminal named Elena, a would-be hunter named Raúl, and a research scientist named Vani. Keep them alive when they first show up, help them out afterward, and one of them will agree to serve you, providing various bonuses in exchange for a small amount of Blood and, depending on your personality stats, a persistent sense of guilt as you turn them into a servant of your will.
Woww im excited! I hope this cones out sooner than expected~ but thats impossible lookin forward to it!
@Moochava Now I just have to ask next: what’s with the Blood Sorcery if there’s no Tremere? I’m actually not aware of any lore exceptions to this.
Tremere Thaumaturgy has always been just one kind of blood sorcery—even the older editions had Dur-An-Ki (Assamite sorcery), Setite Akhu, and whatever the Lasombra were getting up to. In Night Road, sorcerers get to dabble in Thaumaturgy, Banu Haqim sorcery (what older versions called Quietus), and a few other occult traditions. Playing a blood sorcerer gives you access to all kind of strange arts and rituals, granting you great flexibility, but it requires careful planning (and, of course, lots of blood).
Oh, and in other exciting news: I’m going to be interviewed on World of Darkness news later today! Please tune in at 2PM EST/11 AM PST to hear me talk about Night Road and developing games in the World of Darkness setting.
Very interesting! I’ll have to look into those. Man, these three games seem to be going all out and I’m here for it!
Congratulations on getting to do all this! Must be very exciting! Thank you for answering my questions and I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to work with them!
