Choice of the Vampire: The Fall of Memphis -- Customization requests

I pushed patches for CoV and FoM this evening. Looking forward to feedback.

Out of curiosity, what were the patches for? I didn’t see any notes in the Play Store when I updated them.

Some bugfixes, some copyediting, some lead-in variables and content for St. Louis, and some genuinely new content for Memphis.

I wouldn’t say it solves all the game’s problems (that won’t really happen until the next chapter comes out, unfortunately), but there are now a few more things to accomplish/fail at.

Its cool that you can cause Carothers to snap and kill Dido :slight_smile:

@Pepper thank you!

When exactly does shape shifting come into play or is it just a Vampire vanity variable cause if there was a option to intimidate certain people with glowing eyes that would be awesome!!!

Also what all variables can be brought to 4 and how? I’ve only gotten to do strength to level 4 because Carothers trained me in it.

Charm 4 (via creation) or through withers, lore 4 be a mason, perception 4 (creation). Shapeshifting is talking to animals

Anybody knows how you can get mindwipe powers?

While playing as a Choctaw who still followed the old ways and talking to the Puritan vampire, the text forces the character to think negatively of Jews because they are “Christkillers”.

I doubt a pagan Choctaw would dislike Jews for that reason.

@mistylavenda very much so! Where was that?

*edit: Nevermind. Found it. Two places, in fact. Curiously, I had the right code in a third place, but hadn’t pasted it everywhere it needed to be.

@ChoiceofManning It’s not a vanity variable, but I will admit I currently under-utilize it. It’s tricky to write scenarios to use a stat that only a small portion of the players will have. That said, while working on a $wealth-related bug today, I noticed another moment where it could be used in St. Charles parish.

That said, if there is a specific moment that you’d like for me to consider for the use of Shapeshifting, do let me know, and I’ll see if I can make it work.

Shape shifting like fully in to animals?
could be used to ecsape certain things, like when your feeding and the two-three man Patrol come along or fleeing to Memphis you could turn to a dog to get past the guards or bat/bird when Wilson is hiding in his den to sneak in without him aware?
Or change just parts- like ears to over hear private Conversations, noise to track and find people, eyes to see things(heat signatures, vampires/the dead wouldn’t have them) so local them in a crowd?

@DreamWalker it’s not currently possible to get shapeshifting high enough to shift into animals.

Again, you need to identify a specific moment in the text where you think Shapeshifting would be of use.

@Jason,
I said this before but I dunno if you saw it, so I’ll say it again.
In FoM, when you review the events of Part 1, it always says that you went to New Orleans, even if you went to the Parish.
Edit: Oh, and ‘hundred’ is spelled wrong in the scene talking about the James Brothers.

@Zed there is code for avoiding New Orleans/going to St. Charles. Can you tell me more about your dominus/how you were turned into a vampire? Was your maker West?

Uh.
Crap.
I think so, for the majority of the times I’ve seen nothing for St. Charles.

Yep, pretty sure it’s just West, since I just did a playthrough with a different Dominus and the St. Charles text showed up.

For shape shifting in fighting scenes like when u decide to take down the vampire who trying to blow up tge factory one of the choices can be UNLEASH THE BEAST and you like grow claws and attack him
And in general just anywhere where tge fighting star is used the shapeshifting can be used as a alternative that’s how I see it

@jasonstevanhill

How much can a vampire actually shapeshift? Are we talking about becoming a wolf/bat/mist etc or is it more subtle like longer nails improved animal like hearing or sight?

@Nocturnal_Stillness Shapeshifting 1 is the ability to communicate with animals. Shapeshifting 2 is the ability to command them. Shapeshifting 3 is the ability to mimic animal traits (nails-to-claws, more acute hearing/sight, etc).

I’ve recently added two places where Shapeshift 2 helps you deal with “men on horses”. You reach out and command the horses to stop. It was like, “duh, that’s a great moment to use Shapeshift 2!” But sometimes you have to point these things out to me.

Um… in Memphis when tracking willson at the warehouse I think, there is a hatch that goes down under ground, too dark to see anything, eyes could change to see the the dark like a cat, helping your investigation of the area?
