Choice of the Vampire: The Fall of Memphis -- Customization requests

I’d love to spare Wilson.
Still need to buy Fall of Memphis, but when I played the Alpha test, I didn’t like not being able to spare him, especially if I was his maker.

@Zed you can spare Wilson now.

If you meet Dido without introduction and Wilson is dead, your character is inevitably rude. Considering my character is all manners, manners, manners, it seemed very out of place. If you are introduced you can chose how to explain your presence in the city, but you don’t get that choice if you aren’t, also it doesn’t seem smart to insult the quaestor of the city you want to settle into. I think the solution to this would be to simply copy those choices you get when you are introduced and change them or omit some if needed. On that note, if you are good friends ( or maybe high status) with Withers and you are going to Memphis for election (that is, she knows where you are going), she could offer to write an introduction or at least tell you something about the quaestor so you have an easier time finding him.

Also when you meet Carothers in part one he seems delighted if your maker is Villanueva, yet if you stay in Vicksburgs (that is, kill Wilson) and meet him in part 2 he has no reaction.

I think it would be a nice idea to get more topics to talk with Chiara at reception in 1873. Maybe from where she was, does she like New Orleans, Memphis, etc. As it stands you have a choice of 4 question, 3 if you don’t want to flirt, 2 if Wilson is alive and only one if you don’t care about Jesse and/or election. Also (and sorry if you are sick of people mentioning Jesse) maybe when you talk to Jesse you can ask him, for example: how was he during the years when you were separated or if he knows where is your dominus, if there is anything new in New Orleans, what does he think about Chiara or if you haven’t met her, if he could introduce you, etc.

If you aren’t preparing the party or vessels for the reception/caucus in 1877, maybe to allow two letters pre month? Or maybe 10th or 11th month you would have a choice to:start preparations for reception or start gathering vessels, instead of writing letters? Also maybe if you start earlier you get better results with the party? Maybe you could ask Patridge(?) by letter about his dominus Stone. Example, reason for revolution, further goals, if there are any, etc.

From what I saw the only way to meet the senator Davison is to be a candidate. It would be nice if you could do so even if you aren’t.

I found it very weird that I had to be educated about “shepherds and wolves” despite having lore at 4, I mean shouldn’t I already know that? Especially because I remember in part one when I overheard Estefania and, hm…, K-something, I knew what they were talking about. I tried different senators and not even one option (where one existed) recognised my high lore stat and I think that’s the highest you can have it.
On that note maybe high lore can help us recognise senators and quaestors?

If you saved that black man that those people “hooded in sackcloth” wanted to… hang, I think, it would be nice if Carothers recognised it when you are talking at that gambling place, crapaud.

@JSH,
:o
Awesome.
Edit: Other than that, more choices to flaunt your disregard for the rules of the Society, like in part 1 with the German Town, etc, etc, if there aren’t options already.
Or possibly, more situations where you can kill other Vampires, like with Cecil Lynch in Part 1, etc.

My suggestion for next game is please, make characters go somewhere place interesting. Im European and the history of your game is totally hmm, how tell elegantly, boring.
A small town with racism some financial problems and a totally predetermined political party wicked from start. That’s it, the XIX is fool of wonderful inventions, political wars, music. But we are poisoned in a small town in a not really politically, important country in XIX.

If i do a not intelligent German who don’t speak English and don’t write .well, game say ,nope, you speak English and write also you has to bored yourself in that wicked from start ,political stuff.

The bank thing i don’t invest a coin but Im being asking about it continuously.

I love your writing, but is sad don’t going to a great city and being involved in some action , and real participate in the battle betweenOld vampires and new world.

You got great story but need some spicy .

Also need a real romance working; not only a going to lunch and walk in moon, my pc are not a emo 15 years old.

Edit: Im sounding harsh, sorry. It’s just only suggerences, not trying to harass you.

Just got FoM, and one thing I’ve noticed is that even if you choose to not go to New Orleans in Part 1, the review of prior events in the beginning still treats your save as if you had gone to New Orleans, even though you didn’t.

also when in last game my pc goes to vicksburg they appear a weird Greek letters after siege of vicksburg title. Also there is no way to be vegetarian?i got enough intelligence and mercy but when i decide not feed the soldier my maker obliges me to feed and all option to don’t kill people disappears.

@Marajade Are you talkin about the first game? If so the part with soldier is always going to happen. To be a vegetarian you have to have 3 or higher will, keep a high compassion, and lie to Estafana about both your feeding preference and what you want to do in your existence.

thanks, @12lexy12 yes it was replying the first part. Also there are more weird symbols and Greek letters after some titles in second game too. Also there is something i don’t know if its a glitch i always choose not give a coin to the freedom bank but the game automatically said i got almost 6,000 $ in actions.

Also a option to choose clothes to election could be nice.

@Alekce

Ok, I think I’ve fixed this.

“On that note, if you are good friends ( or maybe high status) with Withers and you are going to Memphis for election (that is, she knows where you are going), she could offer to write an introduction or at least tell you something about the quaestor so you have an easier time finding him.”

There already is a way to be introduced, but not if you go directly there (before the Wilson drama). But you’re right, and I’ve added the potential of an introduction (depending on withers_rapport and status).

"Also when you meet Carothers in part one he seems delighted if your maker is Villanueva, yet if you stay in Vicksburgs (that is, kill Wilson) and meet him in part 2 he has no reaction. "

Fixed.

“I think it would be a nice idea to get more topics to talk with Chiara at reception in 1873.”

Good observation. I’ll have to think on what could be asked.

“Also (and sorry if you are sick of people mentioning Jesse) maybe when you talk to Jesse you can ask him, for example: how was he during the years when you were separated or if he knows where is your dominus, if there is anything new in New Orleans, what does he think about Chiara or if you haven’t met her, if he could introduce you, etc.”

Good points. Will think on it.

“If you aren’t preparing the party or vessels for the reception/caucus in 1877, maybe to allow two letters pre [sic] month?”

This is really a coding limitation more than anything else.

“Or maybe 10th or 11th month you would have a choice to start preparations for reception or start gathering vessels, instead of writing letters? Also maybe if you start earlier you get better results with the party?”

This is a great idea! Done.

“Maybe you could ask Patridge(?) by letter about his dominus Stone. Example, reason for revolution, further goals, if there are any, etc.”

Will do.

“From what I saw the only way to meet the senator Davison is to be a candidate. It would be nice if you could do so even if you aren’t.”

Will do.

I’m not really sure how you got a Lore 4.

“On that note maybe high lore can help us recognise senators and quaestors?”

Excellent idea. Done.

“If you saved that black man that those people “hooded in sackcloth” wanted to… hang, I think, it would be nice if Carothers recognised it when you are talking at that gambling place, crapaud.”

This is actually a bug; there was a variable set to true, but I never put in the code to check the variable and give a result when with Carothers. Now fixed.

You get +1 lore if you are a laborer;
+1 lore when you dominus explains the 3 rules to you:
if you help Cecil and don’t lie to him you get +1 lore and if your maker is Sainte-Chapelle and you talk to him about masons and join them later you get +1 lore.
End result = lore 4 :slight_smile:

It an old character that I didn’t actually plan to have high lore, it just ended up like that. Not that I am complaining. :wink:

@jasonstevanhill , sorry for the taking so long to reply, work stuff.

a) TBH that was a bad suggestion, sorry
b) moking Dido when she is feeding on the sick man, she is looking at you for help.
c)Its not what i would have wrote to someone and more that sending one letter a month seems a little strange to me.

Hey when does Memphis come to kindle?

The Alpha doesn’t work anymore so I cant play Fall of Memphis as I am too young to have a credit card… plus I don’t have a job… anyways I wont be playing FoM for a while since i’ll need money and a card.

Also I don’t know if you added this, but I think it would be cool if you added a possible way to be elected. Also I don’t know if you added this either, but you could add at least 1 scene w/ clotho and the note and/or a way to save them instead of them being killed off no matter what.

@JasonStevanHill

My suggestion is to give this otherwise well-crafted tin-man the heart it needs.

  1. While not everyone is into romance, for those that are, there’s a lack of a female romance interest if you’ve already encountered Clotho in the first installment. There’s nothing that compares with the Jesse romance arc that is available to those who are interested in men. To remedy this I’m going to toss out 3 possibilities:

1a) Expand of the flirtation with Chiara into something more significant. There is -a lot- of potential here.

1b) Have Estefania do a drop-by much like Jesse does, maybe even have them arrive together as part of a delegation from New Orleans, enabling you to choose which of the two you decide to spend time with.

1c) Quite a few people were surprised that the reincarnated Clotho romance in part 2 was closed off if you had encountered her in part 1. You could open it up to everyone even if she was romanced in part 1. She did say she would return to be with the MC, and there is the entire reincarnation thing to explore. And while you’d end up losing her yet again, it would nevertheless make for some poignant RP.

  1. Allow the protagonist to achieve something meaningful that can serve as a motivator and won’t be swept away with everything else at the end. Given the sandboxy nature of this game, this might well be a bit of work, as different players will gravitate to different motivators. Perhaps they may be drawn into faction politics, willingly or unwillingly, and between the elections, depending on their predisposition (physical, mental, or social), have a bit of adventure. The sense of accomplishment this could bring would keep the player engaged through the game, and serve to balance the otherwise bitter ending as everything around the character turns to ash. It would also give the more physical characters something to keep them engaged. This doesn’t have to be something lengthy, but it should feel meaningful to the overwhelming majority of players.

Anyway, that’s my 2 cents worth. Do with it as you will.

Don’t you think that our status should be 1+ every time we help withers?

She does write to her sister the governor about our exploits…

How can you erase someone’s memory?

@jasonstevanhill just started part V of Zombie Exodus and it came to me. Just wondering if there was a reason that when I finish part one of vampire, that if I want to move on to vampire 2 I have to open that app, instead of it just being attach to the end of the first app and continuing the story, like Zombie Exodus? (unsure if that came out right and understand me…)

@DreamWalker no, I totally understand what you mean. Based on our experiences with Choice of Romance, we decided it was best (financially) to make the different chapters into separate apps. For playthrough purposes, I agree, it’s more enjoyable to have a seamless experience, but until we get much bigger, we have to make some decisions for financial reasons.
