@Stsword Have a read of the magic section. It’s on the stats screen under the World Index. It explains what magic can do.
Getting donations of blood from everyone would be useless. You can only use your own blood. There is a method of purifying other people’s blood, using the harrowing machines, but how it’s done is a closely guarded secret.
@stsword, “Hmm, kind of have to say that it’s odd after hiring a swordsmaster to train my folks and gaining a blademaster as a rebel that my character’s combat training is still 0.” Sybla was there for a week, and you’ve only just got Simon/Suzane. It takes a lot more training than that to add up to a stat bump, I’m afraid.
I just played this game and it is amazing! There is so much replay value and I don’t think I’m even done playing through everything. I just have one question. Will my father character ever approve of me?
@Victoriya, glad you’re enjoying it! At this point, you’d only win your father’s approval against his will; he’s nearly disappeared inside his own bitterness.
@Havenstone
I love what you’ve done with this concept so far. I do ask that you don’t include a randomness feature. They really annoy me and I have neither the knowledge or patience to learn how to cheat. I want to focus more on the outcome and significance of my choices rather than if the given stats will work through my current play through.
At this point, no matter what you choose I think the game will still be amazing!
This game’ll keep me from many times of boredom, but alas, not during the day. For today is the worst of all days, the first day of school. Bid me well dear friends, for I shan’t survive.
@Scivener do not celebrate just yet my friend. i fear we are on the losing side in my school… its those dang larkspurians! they’ve cut me off from my squad… alas, tis only me and a few others.
There’s enough Greek carried into English that many of the “Karagond” terms will be familiar to English readers, especially those with a decent vocab and/or a bit of a nose for etymology. And as you say, Christians (and especially Orthodox Christians) will have some advantage.
Conveniently for me as a non-Greek speaker, the Karagond language has been affected by its provincial languages, as well as vice versa… so it doesn’t have to be a perfect reflection of Greek.
That said, please do let me know if you read anything and think, “This is ridiculous.”
I’ve been thinking of the tech of Shayard as broadly parallel to sixteenth-century Europe… although 300 years of Theurgy in Karagon has allowed the development of some techs there that came about in the 17th or 18th century in our world, and some Theurgical effects (like maturing crops early, allowing six harvests a year) don’t have a direct parallel.
