Choice of Games and Hosted Games Recommendations -- Consolidated Thread

Look for recommendations for CoG and Hosted games with exes you can romance.

What it says in the title.

I’m looking for CoG and Hosted games where you have ex that’s possible to romance. Preferably if it’s something that needs working towards or your ex is your opponent in the story.

Fallen Hero (1 and 2) can have Ortega as a former romantic partner whose relationship with the MC can be rekindled. They (you can choose if they are a man or a woman) are also your opponent.

Still just a WIP. But if you want a bumpy road towards reconciliation with an ex you should check out INFAMOUS. Seven is also a competitor in the same music competition as your MC, thus they check both of your requests.

I also believe that ‘if life gives you lemons’ has an ex as a romance option. That one is pretty far along (you can wishlist it on steam).

Edit. Totally forgot but the WIP merry crisis has two ex romance options. One just recently broke up with you, and you can try to save the relationship. The other is an ex form highschool who you meet again after getting out of touch (potentially on a pretty bad note, if you so desire). This WIP is great. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should

Professor of Magical Studies has a couple of potential ex romances.

One of the possible romances in Love at Elevation is your ex.

@Snowflower already played that one, but thanks!

@Nemorah just started playing this one, thanks! Ex is quite fun so far!

@AletheiaKnights did that but completely forgot there’s ex there, will have to replay, thanks!

Your ex is the only non-fling RO in Light Years Apart.

You can romance your ex spouse in Rent-A-Vice, although you choose the circumstances of your breakup, so how hostile it is is partially up to you.

It’s not exactly the same, but in I Cyborg you can date people who are exes of the person you are a duplicate of.

For Hosted Games, the Relics series has Maria, who is an ex (or ex friend) who is your opponent in the first two books. She is only an RO from the 2nd book on.

Are you interested in completed games or just WIPs? Hosted Games has a few: The Parenting Simulator, A Sensei’s Story, A Long Weekend, My Day Off Work, The Volunteer Firefighter.

maybe just WIPs

In general, I find that many CoG and HG games have the ROs have a platonic interest in you until you express interest in them. I understand the need for that, as you might not want to be hit on by someone if they’re not your type.

My type happens to be girls who take initiative and make the first move. I’d really like a book with a character like that.

There’s always Blood Moon I suppose, if you haven’t read it already. Most ROs will wait for you to make a move first unless you’re on really good terms with them, but there’s also Shawnie who definitely sounds like your type. And it’s a solid 7/10 book in general, so I see no harm in checking it out.

In Keeper of the Sun and Moon, there’s Astrid, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve read I, The Forgotten One before and absolutely loved Lada. I am very eagerly looking forward to the sequel. As for the others, I’ll give them a try. Thank you for the suggestions.

Can anyone introduce me to more CoG/HG games that have pets in it whether as the main focus or as an option? This also includes WIP games too. The list below is the CoG/HG games that I have played.

  1. Life of a Wizard
  2. The Lost Heir Series
  3. The Last Wizard
4.Life of a Space Force Captain
    5 Dinoknight
  4. The Keeper of Sun and Moon and Day and Night
  5. The Unforeseen Flame
  6. Shepherds of Haven (Though it haven’t been implemented yet)
  7. Blood Legacies
  8. Riders or Ecadius (though that one hasn’t been updated for some years now)
  9. The Golden Rose Book 1 (I haven’t encountered any so far on my progress but I heard someone in Steam discussion board mentioned some of them)
  10. Pon Para and the Unconquerable Scorpion (though only the Nymph gets one if you trained her in it)
  11. Tokyo Wizard
  12. Choice of Magics
  13. Grand Academy for Future Villains and it’s sequel
  14. Choice of Robots (not sure if I should’ve included this one but whatever)
  15. Vampire the Masquerade Parliament of Knives and Night Road

Choice of the Cat.

The PC of New Witch in Town has an animal familiar (dog, cat, or bird), and they can befriend various NPCs who also have pets.

In Royal Affairs, the PC has a dog, a horse, or a bird of prey as a pet.

In Social Services of the Doomed, you can have a cat or a fish (or a pet rock).

You have a cat in Out for Blood. You can have an animal companion in Night Road (wolfdog) and Parliament of Knives (rat) if you choose the right clan background. You can befriend an animal (dog, cat, bird, or deer) in Sins of the Sires.

Runt of the Litter and The Last Monster Master involve training fantasy animals.

Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven allows you to have a dog or cat.

Atlantis Academy and Lies Under Ice, both coming in November, include animal companions. In Lies Under Ice you can choose to take cats or rats as companions when establishing a space colony. A companion water dragon is a major character in Atlantis Academy.

Fine Felines by Felicity Banks is about breeding cats. It was written for IFComp 2021 and will eventually be published by HG.

There are NPCs in The Play’s the Thing and Stars Arisen who have dogs, and there are even Achievements for interacting with them.

You didn’t say anything about Heart’s Choice, but a dog is a significant character in Brimstone Manor, you can adopt a kitten in Belle-de-Nuit, and there’s an Achievement for conjuring an ethereal puppy in Forbidden Magic.
