Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

You can actually check out Aeson’s basic facts and the other ROs’ on Tumblr; Rohie made a post for that.

Loved that information. What else is on the Tumblr?

Lots. There are some one-shots that Rohie’s written for the ROs, quotes that define their character, aesthetics, answers to Essenverse questions, exclusive little tidbits…pretty much everything you need, really.

@gia (aka muslincloth on tumblr) as of late has come to co-manage the page, but in the earliest months I assume it was all @Rohie.

COTG’s tumblr is life.

Hey everyone! Been a lurker since the 3k post mark, just decided to pop in (and make an account lmao) today.
I made a tumblr to submit fanart, but the ‘submit’ button went missing so I’ll just drop it here ^^

(that’s my bearer Catriona hihihi also oh gods i hope Aeson looks just like how he was described)

Also, I’m not sure if this has been asked, but will the game be published in separate parts or as a whole? Thanksies! :relaxed:

I bet it is. But I have trouble accessing it.

@squarelyblue, Nyx resides in Tartarus in a swanky mansion above her Progenitor, Chaos. She’s the eldest Progenetos and just chills out, she gave birth to the Furies, Old Age, Death, (Eros in some stories), Strife, Sleep, the Fates, the Curses, and a few other fun things. She also gave birth to her estranged daughter Hemera (Day). For some reason they don’t like one another. Her immortal husband is Erebos, the wall that divides the Underworld from the world of the living. Here’s a picture of her too.

Goes on Children of the Gods tumblr page and reads @gia mentioning that nobody is appreciating Calypso enough

Proceeds to take out random piece of paper and starts writing letter

Dear @gia,

I think we need to have a talk about Cally…or a duel. Whichever you prefer.

Signed,

@Okami-Nora :grin:

Silliness aside:

I’m not to surprised about Avery not being all that high in romantic interest for most players at the moment, but I think it feels like a stretch to say that she’s unpopular with the players. At most, it often feels like most players are indifferent toward her character right now due to being the RO that we have the least information and interaction with at the moment (something that will likely change in the rewrite like how Sage has a new introduction now). I won’t claim that any of us truly know much about the other ROs the Bearer can enter a relationship with, but we do at least get a good feel of their personalities and in Cally and Donny’s case, we get a small taste of their reactions to a Bearer that’s interested in them.

Naturally, just my opinion on the matter.

@Rohie

I wish we could dance with Avery at the party.

I think in one of the older versions of the Children of the Gods demo, there actually was a option to try to ask Avery for a dance.

As of this current version of the demo though, Avery seems far too busy cleaning the slashed palms of the Demigods who did a blood sacrifice for their Godly parents (and possibly also tending to Demigods who got into other types of scraps).

Wasn’t she not even present at the ceremony?

Rohie mentioned at one point that she’d be getting a lot more screen time in Part 2, so until then!

I could be remembering that older demo version wrong, of course; it was a good while back when it existed.

But from what I think I remember. in that older version of the demo, there was no mention of her being in the ceremony, but I think she was still a option to ask to dance (of course, this is assuming that I’m even remembering that particular demo version correctly).

In my case, Cally was the first RO that I took a interest in; an interest that only seemed to grow the more I played the game and the more my Bearer got to interact with her in different ways. Much like Donny, both him and Cally are the two characters that the Bearer has had the most opportunities to interact with. It feels like story wise, they’re both characters that players have the strongest sense of familiarity with (and the two we can have the most developed opinions on).

Speaking of the tumblr, there have been a good deal of asks about Cally that paints a more detailed picture of her, especially her little shorts where she first meets the Bearer and when she’s hanging out with a Bearer who has a romantic interest in her. I really did enjoy the natural feel of Calypso’s intensity as she was waiting to meet the Bearer for the first time and then thoroughly taking in the person before her as she gives them a grin, probably not realizing how overwhelming she might be coming off as to the Bearer.

And I am not ashamed to admit I made oddest sound of glee when reading the first half of Calypso’s romance tease…followed by feeling a pang of sadness at the end of it . On one hand, I loved the intimacy of the moment and that sense of trust as the Bearer gets close to trace her tattoos (don’t think Calypso would let just anyone up close to her like that). But then near the end of it, it seems like Calypso has a small hint of uncertainty and insecurity with the Bearer. Whether it’s because of her past experience with Aeson or some other matter as well, we’ll probably have to wait and see. I will look forward to having Evander soothe some of her worries when they are in a relationship. :hugs:

Also, looks like Oli (Saint’s boyfriend) is a son of Hercules.

I get where she’s coming from when she thinks that, certainly when compared to Adonis and Aeson, Calypso seems less appreciated. Seemingly.

But outside of Saint, Cally is one of the least objectionable, relatively emotionally mature characters, and at least to me she comes off as a fully realized person with very few issues that need addressing, she seems very open and secure in her own skin.
And then go ahead and compare that to Donny aka Mr. Fanservice von Envyface, and Sonny aka Woobie Sue, Enabler to the Destroyer of Worlds, it’s like…

It’s like you’re watching these kids. One of them is self sufficient and if left alone is pretty good at not dying, and then next to her there’s these other two kids who are taking turns choking each other with the phone cord. Your attention inevitably gets drawn to the two dumbasses, and then your aunt and uncle are being sneaky lil fucks, and then your mom was like…wow, and then there’s that chick whose brother you killed who chokes you out like a damn pimp, and then your dad, eugh, oh man your dad

It’s not anything against Cally as a character, it’s more to do with just how fucking extra all the other characters are. She’s just too emotionally stable to compete.

@rose-court

Honestly, I just brought up that particular line for laughs in my case . Calypso is probably the character I personally talk about the most on the forum. So seeing @gia mention how ‘nobody’ appreciates Cally enough made me jokingly want to go ‘hold my beer’ at that particular line and start typing.

It’s funny that you mentioned Sage because I see both of her and Calypso as very intense people, but the type of intensity they display feels inherently different from one another. With Calypso, a good deal of her intensity gets balanced out by a sense of friendliness if the Bearer offers just as much of a open hand in friendship (and that’s not even mentioning her moment of gentleness with a Bearer whose interested in her). Yeah, her intensity is a little daunting at times, but if Bearer is willing to not get too frightened off by it, the friendliness surfaces up really easy.

With Sage, however, her intensity currently feels VERY overpowering. Like it’s so strong that it can easily push away someone unless they’re really, really determined to hang around and weather through that heavy aura to meet the person beyond it. and something tells me that passionately heavy intensity of her gets stronger the more she likes the Bearer while Cally’s possible passion toward the Bearer takes a bit more of a gentle edge to it.

You pretty much summed up what happens in beginning of the First Trial . Calypso tried to talk about the fact that they were all in Artemis’ Trial and that they needed to work as a team, but then Sage and Santiago got into a heated debate about whether they were a team or not. The end result was Calypso having to hold back Sage from strangling Santi, who was trying to give Sage advice about handling her emotional outbursts, and the Bearer having to do something to get all of their attention since they were all pretty much standing at the eye of a incoming storm.

I mean that we just don’t get asked about her as much as any of the others! Even Saint’s boyfriend is someone we’ve been asked abt way, way more. I get that, it’s cute, but I guess this is just my own love for her talking. It’s fair to say that you may not know too much abt her, but I think wht you DO know (or at least, wht’s implicit) is way more telling than you all seem to realize.

There’s a lot on the tumblr! More to appreciate abt Calypso, as well. We’re more active there, but tht doesn’t mean the both of us aren’t present here, either. We see you :eyes:.

Don’t worry, I saw the thing about Cally’s codependency with Saint, which I assume becomes a problem when Saint’s relationship with Oliver comes to the fore, and honestly, I can’t wait for that to happen, mwahaha. [rubs hands together]
But I feel I must reiterate the “relatively” bit of my argument. Cally is relatively more emotionally stable when compared to…

...the Other Ones™

MC: Hey Santi, do you have feelings for me?
Santiago: I would much rather die.
MC: Than have feelings for me?
Santi: I didn’t say that.
MC: what
Santi: what

Adonis: UM, excuse me, but how dare you ask him that question and not me!
MC: Oh! …um…do you–?
Adonis: [nervous coughing[ N-NO, WHy WOULD yOU EVEn–eVEN THINK tHAT wHAWHy [hyperventilates]

Avery: Just breathe, breathe! Ignore any feelings you have, and bury them deep, deep, deep within the pits of your conscious and unconscious mind so that you can never feel them again. Burn the feelings right out of your heart.
MC: …Are…are you speaking from experience?
Avery: …
MC: …
Avery: …of course not.

Aeson: It’s alright, I’ll always love you.
MC: Thanks, Aeson.
Aeson: Always.
Aeson: In every lifetime.
Aeson: …it’s what I was created to do.
MC: um–
Aeson: even if you didn’t know me
MC: [chokes]

And then something something it turns out Sage was choking the MC but also in love with them?? idk idfk i’m not the writer

But hey I learned how to do superscript and subscript on the forums, so not a total loss! Huzzah!

At least that’s how she comes across to me. ¯\ _(ツ)_ /¯

But Rohie said that Aeson is the kind of person that would send us pictures of animals with the caption: ‘‘You and me’’.

So honestly, even if he was a psycho, possesive stalker boyfriend I’d still cherish him.

lol he can still be stalkerish and tag the MC in a pic of like two teddy bears or something.

besides, i was exaggerating the fact that Aeson is supposed to love the Bearer, even if he isn’t in love with them, in that really weird way where, like, he loves them because they’re the only reason he exists??? (wait am i even exaggerating or is that canon) no wait, it was because…he’s been taught that his whole life is leading up to the Transfer and…umm…

actually, now that i type out it, i realize that i may be interpreting that tumblr post wrong woops

haha i’m so sleepy y’all, pls don’t take anything seriously that i say at this time of night morning??? whenst the fuck

It’s okay, I’ve been there before. This just actually happened to me last night/this morning. I blame too much coffee drinking but shrug shoulders oh well!
