I haven’t checked this forum in a while, and when I do there’s an update! Yay!
Also happy belated birthday!
A few errors I wanted to report:
When I choose to sit by myself after the Trojan War lesson I get an error after “The chatter in the pavilon ceases.” The error message is “part7 line 987: It is illegal to fall out of a *choice statement; you must *goto or *finish before the end of the indented block.” Looking at your code, I think it’s because you ended the choice block with a *page_break:
*fake_choice
#this has completely opened my eyes to all the things I don't know about myself.
How many times have you been someone significant in history, with the potential to change outcomes of wars and global crises? You must have lived infinite lives in the span of billions upon billions of years...
*page_break The chatter in the pavilion ceases.
Maybe a *goto after the *page_break in every option would solve the problem? Like so:
*fake_choice

*page_break The chatter in the pavilion ceases.
*goto seethem
Also, a few minor spelling errors at the prom ceremony before the Trials.
They both wear suits; Aeson’s is deep charcol, with a gold tie, while Adonis’s is a dark purple, with a white tie.
charcoal
“Dylan Parkou,” the Goddes says. “I claim you as my own, with warmth and welcome, and pledge my will to your efforts.”
Dylan seems to sag in relief, making his way over to the Goddes, his back straight.
Goddess
As she walks toward you, flowering spring up from her footsteps. Dove circle her.
(Aphrodite’s entrance) Doves. I’m also not sure what you mean by “flowering spring” here.
She moved so fast, you think. This must be the source power Herme’s children have; speed.
(when asking Sage to dance) Hermes’ (or “Hermes’s”, since I noticed you used “Adonis’s” before).
“Because it’s inevitable,” Aeson says, confidence in his voice. “Me, Aeson, Calypso, Adonis, and anyone else who knows that the Gods can’t pull this off on their own, so it will happen.”
(when dancing with Saint and asking him about the war) It should be Saint I’m speaking to here.
There are also several misspellings of machete. I think I saw “mechete” and “macheta” at different places.
Also I get an error when trying to ask Aeson about Helen, and I think it’s the same problem as the sitting by yourself at lunch one.
#Talk about Queen Helen.
You can't get her out of your mind.
"What happened after you two ran away?" you ask Aeson.
He pauses. "We went back to Troy." he begins. "But before that, we went to this island...I can't remember the name; Helen picked it out anyway. She said it was a place where Zeus had favored for centuries. She said it'd be safe."
Adding *page_break then *goto activities should fix it, I think.
Also somehow dancing by myself leads to the scene of me trying to find Sage to ask her to dance. Hmm, looking at the code, I think it’s because there’s no *goto at the end of the block for *if dancealone = true
*if dancealone = true
[words]
You yell out when everyone else does, keep in sync with the 1-2-3 step, and smile brightly.
So I think it just skips all the others, including *if dancesage = true (because it didn’t give me a choice about what I was trying to accomplish by dancing with Sage) but then it lands on
*label sage1
You finally find Sage sitting with a dark haired boy. She wears a light pink gown, with a large skirt and crystals sewn into the shoulders.
A *page_break then *goto should fix it. If I’m understanding your code correctly, using *goto activities should make it coherent.
Also I think an earlier instance of Santangelo hasn’t been changed to Santiago, unless Santangelo is another character we haven’t met yet.
Content-wise, I really think it’s great that we get more character interaction at the dance! And the Trials - hopefully Sage can put aside her revenge for long enough that we’ll succeed in it. At least we have one person we’re familiar with there. I’ve never been so glad to see Calypso.
