Thank you. To be honest, I’m not the type of person that likes sharing this sort of thing. However, things have been rough for the past few years.
Therapy? Haha. In a way. I like writing about whatever strikes me. Not always sad, but, man, sometimes life sucks, and all I’ve got is writing.

Error, I think?
You think of Alyce for some reason you're not even completely certain of. The shadowy lines of her face fill out as a bleary image in your head. You imagine her strolling down the hall to perhaps help you, but she never arrives. You think of Carmelle for some reason you're not even completely certain of. You started all of this alone, and you'll end it the same. Death nears, and every minute brings its dark, all-encompassing figure closer. You don't know what you'll find on the other side, but the dread follows you every day.
This is what I get if I say that I’m thinking of Alyce after I try to get cloned and sacrifice Alyce before Poppy fucks me up like everyone else I don’t know if the bg info was needed but still. Should it mentio Carmelle here at all?

Time to pop back into the thread and say “I’m alive!”
Finally some good, not soul-crushing news: I had a pretty busy summer getting work together so that I can complete my degree program. That’s done now (huzzah). This semester I’m only teaching and not in school (although that’ll hopefully change in the next few months). Except for a glaring and tragic exception, life has been OK. I’m hoping this means I won’t have to deal with any more losses for a while (please, O Fate, don’t take those words as a challenge). I’ve been productive and busy, but not with BfP.
ANYWAY, things have slowed down now, and so I’m starting work back up on BfP. Expect bug squishing and a new update (chapter 6) sometime in the future. This thing will be finished. The story is already half-way told by my reckoning.

Bug found in Chapter 2.
Under the options:
“Look for doctor”
“Search for him, calling out his name.”
And
“I want to kill him”
In chapter 3.
Talking to Alyce.
Under the option:
“Ask her questions”.
*hide_reuse"How long do I have to live?"
*hide_reuse"Are you sure you’re not lying? Is this a joke?"
These options don’t disappear when clicked.
Choosing to clone the MC with the help of Doctor, using Alyce.
null follows you to Doctor’s room. With Poppy’s instruction, null lies inside one of the two tubs on either side of Poppy.
Doctor double-checks every detail, correcting even null’s posture.
The bolded words should say “Alyce”.
The words in italics should read:
“even correcting Alyce’s posture.”
Choosing to stamp out the clone’s conscience.
!{cheshe} is empty of thoughts and conscious, and there’s no evidence he was ever even alive.
Bug, under the choice:
“They’re gone, I cut them off, it’s done.”
Bug, when trying to clone the MC without Doctor’s help.
There is an option to ask Carmelle even though Elena killed her.

All right, sorry to bump this thread without an update. I’ve been low key working on ch. 6 of the game. Progress has been steady, but slow. I’ve been busy. Anyway, BfP is not finished yet, but I’m hoping that with the next update that includes ch. 6, it will be. I haven’t posted an update in a while because I feel like the new content isn’t ready for public beta testing.
Anyway, what’s the point of this? I’m still alive. The project is still alive.

I’m glad to know that this project is still around. I remember this being the first dark and emotional game that I played on COG. It’s a very special game and I can’t wait to play it, when you are ready to release it.

Now, for the most part, I’m not a horror fan by any means. But psychological horror? If done right, that I can get behind! And this is certainly a prime example.
I certainly wish I’d discovered this sooner. The dynamic between the MC and Carmelle is easily the most interesting part to me, and the writing is extremely intelligent. Now I can not only be a social recluse in real life, but even in a Choicescript game too!

This was one of the very first WIPs I’ve read when I joined this forum and to see it not only still being worked on but actually nearing completion is amazing.
I wish you all the best and I can’t wait to read the finished story! I’m sure it’ll be wonderful.

How have I never heard of this game, it’s exactly the type of thing I love to read and to think it was started in 2012, truly a story ahead of its time. At least as far as choice script games go.

I’ve been meaning to read this, since I’ve seen it mentioned a few times. Honestly I didn’t expect it to be this disturbing. I mean I thought the doctor was a nice guy at first. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Also, Carmelle is breaking my heart. My MC reacted badly since she was being so friggin hot and cold, so she punched her And ever since there hasn’t been much progress… Bo-ho. ; _ ;
