I love this game so much and I am so happy it’s continuing. I love the dark vibe of this game, yet the characters still have to live day to day here.
First, thank you everyone for being so kind. It is utterly gratifying to see people enjoying my little creation.
@Victoriya
Yes, I suppose I went for a sort of “lived-in” creepiness for the story if that makes sense. The story isn’t about unfathomable, metaphysical and incomprehensible horror (although there are some really gothic “fantasy” elements). It’s really about very grounded things. Essentially Doctor is just a mediocre scientist with a God complex to make up for his crushing insecurity and inability to be “great” in the world outside of his creation. The horror is brought on by flawed people hurting each other, and the more tender elements are of flawed people trying to make the best of a bad situation.
I know I’ve been in places like that in my life (I’ve had people do very bad and very good things that have dramatically impacted my life), which is why I hold the personal belief that the true light and the true darkness in the world is in the people we’re stuck with on this planet. I’m sure other people have different perspectives on this, but this belief really influences the stories I create.
I figured I’d pop in here to say that I’m absolutely still working on this. I hope to have chapter 4, which is the next chapter, released by the end of next week. I’ve been buried in school work, but winter break is coming up, and so hopefully I’ll have more time.
I’m also finding that the structure of Poppies makes my progress slow. Chapter 4 isn’t particularly long, but it it is sprawling. There are many branching paths and scenes that change depending on past events, and these don’t make for fast writing. However, I really feel like the final product will be improved by this.
As I look around at other choice games and the general trend of media, I notice that they tend to be getting more inclusive as far as expressions of gender and sexuality go. This is wonderful, and something I’m considering for Poppies. However, I’m not going to mess with anything like that until I’ve completed the game. I’m afraid to distract myself too much before I even have a complete product. Once I am finished, however, there are a number of features I’m considering adding. For one, there isn’t much support for friendship in the game, and there are really only three romances implemented (Carmelle, Kel, and Ashton). Alyce was always intended as a romance, but in reality I probably won’t implement it until I’m finished.
Anyway, thank you everyone for the patience and support! Besides school (which is murdering me), this game is my priority. Here’s to hoping that my next post contains a link to chapter 4!
Whoo! Looking forward to the new chapter. Thanks for sticking with the story.

This game makes me want to scream and cry at the same time. Does the doctor have some form of APD?
By the way I would love to do art for this game, free of charge.
Played through the latest version. I wish their were more strong guy type choices. But the end currently is pretty sweet.
I’m not Doctor’s psychiatrist, so I’m not sure what I’d diagnose him with lol. But, some form of APD does seem to fit.
As far as art goes, please message me so we can talk more. I am very thoroughly appreciative of the help, and am blown away by the generosity, talent and patience of people who play this game. I do need a picture of Alyce and perhaps even Doctor. I’m also considering having images for each ending.
Thanks. I do agree that the MC tends to be very passive! In the current chapter I’m working on the MC is able to take a much more active role in the shaping of their destiny.
As far as tough guy options go, generally there are no options to punch Doctor in the face and walk out of the apartment. But, who knows. Maybe I’ll add in something like that. I always surprise myself when I write.
I also find it odd how you use them same twist twice. I got betrayed twice and there was no distinct difference between the events. Just wish you didn’t use this twice (I don’t remember but i think they were in 2 chapteres next to each other) But i enjoyed the demo
I think you’re referring to Carmelle betraying the MC twice. I’ll go back and take a look. She’ll betray the MC as many times as she can, but as a game maker I need to be certain that the MC isn’t railroaded into it. It’s one of those fine-tuning things that’ll get attention once I actually finish this thing.
And thank you!
Will we get a chance to kill the doctor.
I’m going to give you the most honest but wishy-washy answer I can: very likely yes. Right now I have ideas of possible endings, but they’re not wholly concrete.
There is a path the MC can start to take in chapter 3 that ultimately leads to them becoming like Doctor.
If I click on the dropbox link it says it can not be found.
Thanks for letting me know. I might have moved some stuff around in my Dropbox and messed the link up. I’ll go check.
The first post makes me want to play this game ! Please tell us when the dropbox link works again
So, bad news. I officially have no idea why the link isn’t working. In fact, I’ve tried to create new public links with new files, but none of them are working. Dropbox keeps giving me a 404 error as if it can’t find the file when the file is right there. At first I thought it was because the files hadn’t uploaded to the dropbox server, but it’s been days and I keep having the same issue.
The only reason I can think of is actually pretty rare. Apparently dropbox will disable the public folder for some accounts because of high traffic. It would make sense if this was the case since the link inexplicably stopped working for no obvious reason.
And, so, I’m looking for solutions but, frankly, I have no idea what to really do about it. I suppose I’ll either: a) find a dropbox alternative somewhere or b.) pony up cash to upgrade my dropbox account.

Yes! I was hoping someone would post an alternative. Thank you. I’ll check it out! Thank you!
