Glad my feedback could help!
The fact that the game will play differently depending on the MC’s gender is really interesting. Beside replayability, the differing experiences will work to really flesh out what it feels like to live in this predominantly matriarchal society; starting from the biased perspective of each gender, and finishing by giving the player a true picture when they’ve played all genders. Really love that idea.
I couldn’t get past the 1st choice without an error. It seems interesting
Oh dear, that’s strange. Was it just the gender choice? I was just doing a bunch of updates for both versions, maybe that affected it? Anywho, it should be all good now, sorry about that (=
Was anything added to or amended in the first demo, or is it just an uploading of the second demo?
There were some choice options added, as well as the beefed up prologue. But the prologue is the same in AU, so I wouldn’t say you’re missing anything of note. But thanks for checking (=
It was quick:
prologue line 62: Invalid expression; expected name, found OPERATOR at char 1
Like both sides of the story so far , just dont see the bad stuff so far or i am just used more harder stuff when it comes to bad stuff (i hope we really get bad stuff to do ), run in some bugs during my AU run.
going to keep an eye out for it.
the first one without error shows a letter i dont think should be there and the secound one gave me than instant an error if you wanna use that choice
Thank you to @winters_socaro and @DropsCity1992 for pointing out some errors, they should be fixed (=
And YES, you will absolutely get the choice to be more a bad witch! When I release the actual demo in a couple weeks it will have a bulked up prologue, where MC will have to make some hard choices. That’s probably the first real taste of less innocent/more sinister choices, but it will definitely be as prevalent as ‘good’ choices.
As for the horror elements, that’ll be a bit more of a slow drip. You’ll get to see some more of what happened in the Demonhall prologue, but it won’t be until the third chapter where the horror really starts seeping in to MC’s daily life. Hahah aaand I just got really weirdly excited writing that last bit, so I’m clearly chomping at the bit to get to the spooky shit
In the first post you wrote that AU demo is in the 3rd person but it’s actually in the 2nd person. I guess there is some misunderstanding.
I’ve played AU demo and it felt slightly better for me because MC is not flamboyant and glamorous (it was a turn off from OG demo) and I prefer MC that broken up with friends. But I still didn’t like MC’s character and preferences and I have zero influence on it. Too often I looked at the choices and didn’t like any. I prefer to play introverted, reserved and serious MC and there I can’t do it. Another turn off is preset relationship, especially with Ash. Player again has zero agency here. There are some choices how to feel about Ash but they all mean the same. It feels like reading a novel where I don’t like MC and don’t like MC’s relationship and can’t do anything.
I got a different mistake for the same choice:
prologue line 78: increasing indent not allowed, expected 0 was 4
Choice" “hated the attention. A childhood of reporters shoving cameras in your face for years on end probably didn’t help…”
Also got:
chap1 line 795: bad label ass
In AU- prologue line 78: increasing indent not allowed, expected 0 was 4
Haha yeah, I definitely boned up the 2nd person v. 3rd person. I realised randomly a couple hours ago when cleaning, and just shouted, “Ahh damn it! It’s second person, ya dummy!” So I’m looking to go through posts to see where else my brain farted… like, really, c’mon Jane. Way to use the ONE POV we definitely don’t use in CYOA
All of your points are very valid and I really appreciate you for bringing them up. I don’t want the MC to be defaulted to a specific personality, other than Witxh. I want there to be choices for your MC to be flamboyant & glamorous, as well as more simple and understated. In the full version, there will be at least 5 choices/reactions per choice that will attempt to cover a broader swath of emotions & personalities, if that makes sense.
And I do understand your frustration with the lost agency of your character having already been with Ash. But after a lot of hemming and hawing I decided the MC’s past relationship with Ash was too integral to the story. In the full demo there will be a series of questions regarding MC’s relationship with Ash (how it started, how MC felt during, why it ended, and how they currently feel towards it) and I hope that thorough that, readers can create a situation that makes sense for their MC.
So thank you again for your very helpful insight and error reporting (=
So how to access two different demos?
Here’s the OG link, the AU link, and where to vote for your favourite (=
For some reason the OG demo is showing ‘AU’ but it’s really the OG story. I’m not sure if I upset the site by uploading too many files for different games today, but I hope it fixes itself
Thank you gonna read em now😊
I read through both once, perhaps it was the choices I picked but I got the impression that the AU version had gone through more polishing passes. Anyway, I don’t think I’ve seen enough to really say which I prefer; ultimately I think it should come down to which you think would be most interested in writing.
@Oceana_47 @Venosa, thanks for the heads up! Those should both be fixed now (=
