That’s valid. I suppose he could, but I didn’t view it as a particularly significant moment for him so much as you; as in, it’s more important to shaping the MC’s personality than it is to shaping Siruud’s opinion of them. He doesn’t really care how you react so long as you react to him: he’s just tugging your pigtails, as it were, and considers it overall better (cooler) for him to not react.
I’ll think about it though! It’s a good spot for some reaction.
I see what you mean, and it is a good/interesting point. Maybe his reactions (if you choose to give him some) could be something subtle. Something the MC doesn’t see/notice, but us (the readers) can see.
Loooved the snark and wit throughout, what really sticks out in my memory is the tidbits after choosing a specialization and being embarrassed about thinking it might be the pen caps. And how that keeps coming back!! The shame!! And “Was that loud? It felt loud.” And the whole hit with the poutine!!
LoOOVED how you described Siruud, “beautiful in the way the deepest, blackest parts of the ocean are beautiful and the enormous expanse of space and stars are beautiful: in a way that makes you feel dangerously fragile.”
I am mostly a lurker on the Choice of Games forums, but I wanted to leave a comment and say how much I enjoyed this! It’s very charming, and I love the MC and their snark, and both ROs are so great! You are a talented writer!
Man, this whole thing is like a pile of my favorite things. (Well-written) romance, fantasy, comedic AND dramatic scenes, and another character shipping me with a RO. The writing style is truly fantastic and made me laugh. Job well done.
I was quite happy to see this was updated and continue my (mis)adventures with my favorite demon. I thoroughly enjoyed the new chapter and couldn’t spot anything amiss in spelling or grammar, but I did find a couple of things odd. One of them is just stat based: when I checked my stats after playing chapter three, I found my respect with the agency to be -25%. As far as I know, 0% is supposed to be lowest a stat can go. The second thing is when you’re having a meeting with Tahira at the Bean Bag and Siruud takes the form of Eden and gets you out of it, I was a little confused as to where Siruud came from. Yes, he was in bracelet, but to just burst out of it/suddenly materialize would seem suspicious, right? Can he teleport out of it and to another place (as long it’s only a certain distance from you?)
Oh that’s… very strange. I thought it would stop when it hit zero but it must continue to increment even at zero: I’ll fix it for the next update since at the moment it’s not critically urgent, but thank you for pointing that out !!
And… that was a bit of movie magic. He was in the bracelet and then I needed him out so he was out. I think I’ve established that he can move without you noticing (ie in chapter two when he materializes in front of your face: he didn’t actually pick the lock on your door to get in quietly, he just wanted to be there and so he was there) so I think he’d just instinctively use that !!
I have no idea why I hadn’t played this yet, but I loved this demo so much. You really got me to fall for a dumbass demon. I think my favorite part might be the snark, though! You write snark very well. I’m super envious.
What a cool premise! I love your writing, especially the way that you word your choices…just really funny and natural. Great job, can’t wait to read more!
I love the tone of the writing, the setting, and the MC! And I gotta say the dialogue flows really well and it was super fun reading all the banter lmao
Also my fav parts of this are (predictably) the Siruud scenes. All of them were so good, even though I have to criticize the MC for even daring to make fun of the CLASSIC thot look - a cropped shirt and low pants
