tbut dont forget that the medieval era was not the same everywhere! for some nations it was a very prosperous time. (most of those nations being outside europe) I don’t see why its not possible to have a medieval setting tbat isen’t depressing. (whatever you do don’t think of medieval france or England)
I think that’s just the problem lol, but even so the technology is limiting to an extent.
I personally support the futuristic idea because it has no limitations on what you can do
@Tommybubby so…very…true. And second that profile symbol is pretty epic there o.o
I should really get on some world building aspects. Though my main issue is transportation.
Shame to be rid of horses, shadow meres, wagons/carriages to be replaced with speeders and the likes.
You could do steam punk
True >.< O’s so many choices >.> so many paths, but which to take…
Steampunk magic assassins…CORVO
Lol so not my intention =p
Working on the theme as I type.
Gonna be in a pretty modern society with a few advancements. Clothes and uniforms similar to our own. Hmm gonna be reworked especially with the different countries.
Though there will be armored guards and the likes for military reasons. And the churches clothes (explain that later quite a large attire.)
you could also blend different eras of history. you could have the feadal system with castles and keeps mixed with futuristic transportation (maybe make flying cars that run on mana) and have contemporain clothing be the norm.
Not such a bad idea, although transportation is my only issue. High speed chases Could be troublesome. And fuel in the world.
Flying vehicles are a bit too far ahead of the mixed era I fear hmm. Transportation transportation…
you could just make it so that they use a horse and buggy. or like telportation circles in major cities
Why cant you use the basic transportation for fantasy games? You know, horses and carts. They are usually good enough for most settings.
By the way, most countries didn’t use anything better than that until the 20th century!
(19th century cars were too expensive for most people)
I was planning on using the teleport system. But afterall the mechanics still need to be explain the main setup behind it.
I still have big concerns over using a teleport system in the game. Portal wise. I mean with wars and the like, it calls for more of a quick downfall on things if a war begins the enemy would be near instantly inside the city and quickly able to take down the city.
And after taking so much time building the political and city systems gone in an instant
Made add some kind of fail due system so that couldn’t happen?
A fail safe you say? Coming up with that fail safe is becoming difficult…
Perhaps it’s the portal location…
Somewhere outside the city with a guards house nearby??
If there are portals right outside the city then that takes away the want and desire of wanting or needing to travel through the land.
Was considering a schedule that only during certain periods of time can the portals be used…but still that issue comes into play.
So I guess location plays a key role.
Also considered the idea of having postmasters that maintain the portals ones that must be on both ends to coordinate ports in and out of the city. Hmm that might just work…
I have seen shows and played hero rise and they seem to just put some sort of risk with teleportation. Maybe have teleportation be unreliable and costly to perform. (Sure you could try to teleport north and save a day of travel but you might end up teleporting south and double your travel time)
Speaking of this failsafe for the portal and possible hazards involved with portals, I’ve come up with an idea.
Why not have a way to destroy the portal if war broke out?
Or if multiple beings teleport at once or in rapid succession that could make the portal unstable. Or the teleportees may risk mutilation due to the hazardous nature of said portals.
That, to me at least, sounds like a significant reason not to go through it.
