An Absinthian Ballad (Mini-Update 29.07.18)

What are the age differences between the MC and the potential husbands?

Okay, now I’m psyched for Valentin’s route >:D. I can go for Lothar afterwards to torture myself a bit more ^-^’

Valetin’s an inquisitor general? Does he burn filthy heathens in the name of Providence??

Has everyone except me met Valentin already? I’m starting to feel left out now

I’m with you, I have no idea where to find Valentin.

I’m loving the updated bios of the love interest because honestly you are making it hard to choose a single guy from the list. Edmund is my first pick since I believe there’s more to him and his hedonisitic skirt chaser image. there must be something big occured for him to change.

But, the lovely cousin is slowly climbing up the list with the line: disheartened by the real world because in the world we live in there’s reality that is quite harsh and crush your ideals of it experienced in ways more than one during the hundreds of eras our earth has seen. It’s easy to relate to that.

Actually, can someone explain the meaning of the new title? Is the word ā€œabsinthianā€ refers to absinthe, as in the alcohol, so that it roughly means ā€œa toxic/drunk/delusional balladā€?

(Sry, english is my 2nd language so… :joy:)

@VioletHikari That scene will be done differently in the new version, and it’ll put you into another route. From the way I’ve outlined it, it will hopefully be pretty intuitive what choice will set you into that route,
and which one will let you continue on
.

@Umbreonpanda @GikiKimiki Sort of? Mortal, in the sense of this setting, simply means someone who can die of normal causes e.g. a mortal can die from hunger, or being stabbed in the heart or something, while an immortal would live through those methods.

@cookiemonsta Lol unfortunately, he feels love very strongly. So strongly that there are two
versions of his route.

@FitzRoy I wish lol, but those guys belong to another empire. The term ā€˜inquisitor’ is used very broadly, meaning just an investigative general. He pretty much just goes around to check if everything is in order, nothing seems out of place, etc. Sometimes he investigates allegations of corruption or court-martials.

@Queen_Lunatic ā€˜Absinthian’ can also mean bitter as well, and I really liked the association with alcohol. So depending on how you want to read it, the title can mean ā€˜bitter ballad’ or those you listed. All work, but some work better with certain routes.

Absinthe is also called The Green Fairy.

Huh, really? ā€œThe Green Fairy Balladā€ does sound interesting as well. xD

That does sound good!

Choose Lothar. The guy named ā€˜butcher’ is definitely a safe choice.

Out of curiosity, am I correct in assuming that Einar is the creepy-ass demon who shows up in the MC’s bedroom, brainwashes her into submission, and makes suggestive remarks about doves? I ask in case there’s a more sympathetic, less horrifying supernatural entity that I have missed in the stoty.

Seems like he sound the opposite. Probs one of the LIs with the yandere route?

I actually don’t know anything about Einar. I haven’t back read on the thread yet. If someone have more knowledge about this love interest please let us know!

tbh, I think Einar is Sir Friedrich… Also why did his… rank changed to Lord?

Summary

I have my eyes on him.

Holy macaroni! Either they are the same person or they are strangely connected! I mean, they both have one eye!

Also I remember that the author one said that Friedrich’s route was hardly romantic which was strange because he was not a confirmed RO and it sounded weird to me…

HIT ME WITH THE ANGST DEAR AUTHOR!

For those who are wondering exactly how big the changes are, Oskar and Lothar have not changed much from how they appear in the demo. They’ve only had a few minor details altered. Edmund has changed a bit, most notably his intro scene, so don’t take this one too seriously. Valentin and Einar have gone through the most changes, so ignore the last bit with the strange man / Bad Touch Man.

The updated demo is planned to go up until you meet Lothar.

@lokidemon007 Huh, that’s really interesting! Too bad there aren’t any fairies though.

@anon49824592 Don’t judge a book by its title! Totally did not slave over the names for this reason. But yeah, you’re correct for now.

So, who is Einar, and what possible link could he have with Friedrich??

Light Spoilers

The guy who kidnaps you at the end of the current demo, a.k.a. Bad Touch Man is Einar, or rather, his prototype. His character has changed a lot from how I had originally wrote it. There are seven planned chapters, if you make it that far, and depending on your choices, you either find out the link between them in chapter two or chapter three. Or you’ll never find out. Depends.
