A Tale of Heroes (WIP) - 224k words. Updated 29/01/2025!

So who is going to end up being Osborne? Gloria lol? I feel like I asked this once already a long ass time ago lmao.

(Does this mean a kind of organization like Ouroboros might exist in AToH?)

I used to compare Gloria to Osborne in the past, yes, and there are similarities, but he’s… not so earth-shatteringly scheming as him, I think. He’s more similar to Gramheart, and has some similarities with Alan from Sky.

I’ve described Gloria before as ā€œWants to be the second FDR, fears ending as LBJ. Will most likely be Elizabeth II.ā€

There’s… Okay, there’s something I’ve mentioned on the discord, but not here in the forums, I think, so I’ll explain it here:

Queen Nefertiti
Qin Shi Huang
Boudica
Zenobia
Al-Kahina.

All important historical figures, right? Very relevant to the time period and nations they interacted with, right?

Would it surprise you to know nobody knows what actually happened to them in AToH? The circumstances of their deaths (or, rather, their disappearances) are more assumption than hard fact.

It’ll take until Chapter 9 for you to truly find out who’s behind all that is happening, but it is almost assured that there are more players at the table than just the King, Gloria, and the Cretans…

So, if Lat is a terrible cook, does she take advantage of a MC that was going to culinary school?

Absolutely, yes. :stuck_out_tongue: Lat relied on the MC for all her 'oh hey, this recipe looks tasty, why don’t we have that for dinner…"

Gramheart? That’s interesting. Guy has good intentions but has been toeing a line for quite awhile lol.

I followed this project for a few months before finally deciding to read it. I played a nonbinary character, so if I find any typos I’ll be sure to list them. From my first impressions, I am going to be dreadfully disappointed if Seeker isn’t an RO. [Based off his description versus the listed ROs, I assume he is not, which is a massive pity.]

I’m also making the assumption that Seeker is an immortal, and not just an inherited title. Maybe not, but it would explain why he has such a breadth of knowledge. Who knows though? I do not, at least not yet. I am scrubbing through the code while I read, lol.

I am now obstinant about my theory.

ā€œWoah now, Ignis, don’t tell me you don’t like old people!ā€ Seeker says to her, sounding pretty amused. ā€œYou think she doesn’t like old people, For?ā€
ā€œI think she might not,ā€ Forlorn replies, sounding… well, you don’t know if Forlorn can sound ā€˜amused’, but less serious, at least.
ā€œI can’t see why, though,ā€ Seeker says, continuing to take the piss. ā€œAfter all, the older you are, the more tricks you got under your sleeve. He probably knows what he’s doing, don’t you think?ā€

I am now convinced that Seeker is an immortal.

ā€œAfraid so,ā€ he smiles, sitting next to Ignis. ā€œI’ve been cooking for myself for quite a bit, and I ended up picking a few tricks. But enough about me, dig in before it gets cold.ā€

Reassured again, I am.

Typos and Such - Going to be editing to add em as I go

Wait, they’re on your side. Finally, someone is!
ā€œBullshit sob story,ā€ Forlorn replies, crossing his arms. ā€œWhy crash the debate then?ā€
"The kid was flying away from the cops, and one of the choppers patrolling for the debate caught them. The kid crashed down here trying to avoid a bullet hole. Which, somehow," Ignis says, twisting the word so it can be as sarcastic as possible, ā€œalmost got them a fist-sized hole through his chest anyway.ā€

Pronoun bug, should be ā€œhole through ${his} chestā€

Entering the room, you’re once again struck by how well-provided for the League is. It’s got everything you could think of. There’s a small TV, a writing desk with a PC, a (for now, you suppose) a big closet, and you can see the lights turned on in what must be the bathroom Ignis mentioned.

Not sure what this is supposed to mean?

I hope you have fun! I’ll let you go through it at your own pace (and thanks for checking it out ofc), so when you’re done, feel free to tag me or anything if you have questions or anything like that. I’ll be checking the thread every few hours regardless though, so I’m around if you need anything!

I’m afraid not, sorry! There are a few reasons for this, but the main one should become clear (or at least clear-er) as you go through the game.

So is Seeker not an RO? Just making sure for my sanity haha. Feel free to just edit the comment btw, I have the thread open in a tab. XD

Also, that is fair. Considering the conclusion I am coming to about Seeker, I think it might be… weird, especially since Seeker readily referred to the MC as ā€˜kid’ :skull:

Seeker is definitely a title that gets passed on. For example, the previous Seeker was a lady, and she’s still around. Whether the current Seeker is ALSO an immortal, however, is a different matter.

I will not comment or suggest anything about the theories or counter-theories put forward, but I will say this:

I have never confirmed Victoria’s around/alive/dead/gone status, and all my wording regarding her is intentionally vague on that matter.

There are – like for all the other mysteries in the game – reasons for that.

I’ve been into Victoria II and III, so I thought for a moment you meant Queen Victoria. xD

Ngl, she’d probably feel a little insulted by the comparison. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not buying Seeker being immortal to be honest. BK yeah I can buy it but Kratis? :joy::joy::joy:

This is the last scene! The game is over!

Before you tab out, could you do me a favor?

This here are your stats at the end of the demo:

Smarts: 30%
Melee: 50%
Charm: 50%
Blaster: 40%
Gloria_Health: 79%

Would you mind sharing it with me in the thread? Thanks

I agree with that. He might be one of the strongest guys around near or at Fors level but that’s not enough even with how much knowledge he has. If anything is immortal about Seeker it’s his title.

Absolutely, I could buy Seeker being the Broken King :stuck_out_tongue: It’s been a suspicion in my head ever since:

Now, King, listen to your vassals’ plea! Come, take your rightful place! Lead us, as you once did! Show your might, as you once did! Come, King, for we cry out to you!"

And then thunder strikes, its rumble making you involuntarily shudder, and…

A figure does come.

One armed with two swords, one large, the other short, and a look of pure fury on its face.

Seeker.

Buzzkill

Now I’m not fully on-board with the idea any more, ever since the whole business of Seeker never outright lying came into focus. Kratis is probably 27, that I can believe, even if he might carry a mountain of knowledge and memories on his shoulders. But it’s a crucial parallel that is worth exploring, I think.

Y’know, hypothetically speaking, if Kratis became immortal at 27, then it doesn’t matter if it’s been a decade, a century… or even a thousand and twenty one years since then. He would still biologically be 27.

Which would mean he’s not lying.

… You know.

Hypothetically.

And you wonder why the fan-base has such wild theories…

In all honesty, I think you guys are the fun kind of wild theorists. :stuck_out_tongue:

A lot of what you guys come up with is… honestly insane, and maybe not anywhere near accurate, but it always makes me smile that the story could birth such craziness.

…And, just between us, if any of you figured out the actual plot, I’d fear for your mental health.
