Whatever he does, no one would actually try to hurt him, because ‘he is way too important for anyone to dare’. He has essentially bought his own hype, and thinks the rules don’t apply to him. Whatever he does is fine, because obviously, a genius like him couldn’t ever be wrong.
The League was founded under his predecessor, and he doesn’t like it one bit, but Congress won’t back him into disbanding it, so he’s chosen to instead publicly show himself as their opponent and try to ‘humiliate them’ as you would a rival.
If the League sits there and take it- then he’s right about them being a bunch of spineless morons, and he gets to prove his tough-guy macho persona and boost his ego. If they do try something, then they’re just proving him right about being deranged lunatics, likewise boosting his ego.
The possibility that them ‘doing something’ could include hurting him doesn’t even enter into his mental calculus, because he just can’t fathom the idea.
Just finished my third semi play-through to chapter six and wanted to report back what I was fond of and not so fond of. Starting off with the positives: the characters are vastly unique and for the most part are likable (or interesting enough to not hate). The powers combinations and explanations are intriguing, can’t wait to see them as the mc progressive through the story. And the plot does a great job of explaining things while also leading you comfortably in the dark. I don’t know what’s going to happen next but I’m excited to experience where the story leads us.
Also I enjoyed how the heroes interacted with each other. Each character had an established role before the mc got there and I appreciated the show not tell aspect to learning those roles. Latooni just naturally fitting in with the group was well written and seemed so coded to their character.

Now onto the not so fond things spoilers obviously:
When it came to the playable character or mc, I just didn’t enjoy them. For each of my playthroughs the mc just seemed so nonexistent. Felt like I was the Watcher who could sometimes pinch in if the need arises. This became very apparent when Lat felt more like a main character who interacted and felt more essential to the plot than the mc did.
Few things I would have wanted to see:
More reactions from the mc
Interactions with the main league (we got that in latest chapters) but at the start I was surprised mc never once tried to talk to Forlorn after the punch to the face, or talk to Latooni after almost hitting her with an energy blast.
I wanted to see how romancing Ignis would be versus the college friend/shy-hero options (I wanted some drama). Besides one or two lines of dialogue mc seemingly isn’t bothered by Ignis/Seeker one sided situationship. Even after the whole news scandal with the bombing. Or when Ignis got confirmation that her parents were most likely accomplices, I was hoping to see even a tiny reaction from the mc to possibly checking up on her.
Probably something I missed, but is there an explanation/reason as to how people can get powers even if they aren’t born with them? Just want to know if that’s a current occurrence or if Latooni/mc are lucky?
Back to the Ignis thing… once your mc pursue a character are you locked out from the other romance options? (Ready to bail off the Ignis ship)
You’ll get a chance to start a romance with Lat after that relationship peters out.
You’ll also have another character which hasn’t been introduced yet, Iris, who is from Crete. There will be a chance to start a relationship with Mars, too.
Forlorn will also be a RO in Book 2.
There isn’t really an explanation, both the MC and Lat are freaks of nature in that matter. Everyone with powers awakens them before they’re out of teenagehood.
A big deal isn’t made of it in your case because powers aren’t really understood yet, and the last attempt to do so ended up crippling something like 200 American soldiers for life, so everyone is (or at least pretending) to take it at face value with stuff like ‘oh neat, more power stuff we didn’t know!’.
Seeker doesn’t buy it, though. Neither does Gloria.
Do you have any examples where you’d like the MC to have a chance to react or what you’d like for them to say? It’d be really helpful.
Thank you for giving the game a run too, of course. I’m glad you enjoyed it, makes me happy to hear that.
There is not- nothing beyond a friendship, at least. Neither of them would consider a relationship with the other, for frankly understandable reasons (Forlorn and Seeker know certain secrets about each other that make them wary).
Note that that doesn’t stop the gossip rags, or AO3.
Forlorn will be a romance option in Book 2, yeah. Seeker is… otherwise occupied, so he won’t be.
Tacking on to the book 2 mention–it really does seem like much of the bigger aspects of inter-character relations, and romance will probably only really bloom during the probable downtime of the early parts of the next book since some relationships are slower to incubate than others.
That is correct, at least in terms of inter-character relations.
I may be tipping my hand here somewhat, but Book 2 will… level things out, in terms of power dynamics. Forlorn will lose a lot of his superiority and control over Aki and the team at large due to his actions and his deteriorating mental state, while Seeker and Ignis will finally be casting off the ‘authority pretensions’ they’ve both been carrying.
Which means there’ll be a lot more space to act and treat each other as equals, which will help with establishing new dynamics with the other characters.
