It doesn’t, true, but I don’t think the situations are comparable. Nukes aren’t the sort of weaponry that a state can deploy with no qualms, and even if they did, there would be legitimate consequences that they have to properly weigh before embarking on a course of action.
None of the nuclear powers in existence today exists in such a different dimension of power that it does not need to fear consequences from a nuclear attack.
The Broken King does, and that’s where the issue lies. Russia, China, Israel, France, etc, may have the power to end the world, but they understand that if they were to try using it, they would be likewise be consigning themselves to said end. Meanwhile, the King… wouldn’t be. If he one day shows up, decides “I’m in the mood for wiping Madagascar off the map today” and does so, then… he does, and there’s no consequence to his act. He doesn’t have to fear shunning from the world, he has no financial or economic concerns, and the only person he has ever been answerable to has seemingly been dead for over a thousand years.
A relative accurate way to look at the matter is more or less “someone has an infinite fuel B-52, and the rest of the world is stuck in the equivalent of the 10th century tech-wise”. That’s essentially the power disparity between beings like the Broken King and the average modern day nation.
Hi guys, just a general question. I restarted playing this game after a long time due to personal life, and observed there was no save slot!! Is it for me or is it for everyone as well?
Very true. Yknow Gloria probably has a lot of liberal supporters now after stuff keeps blowing up. “He’s such a responsible apolitical statesman” etcetcetc. Can’t wait for the unanimous declaration of war on Crete to get the Capitol building detonated.
Gloria has had plenty of liberal support for a while.
He very much gets the Liz Cheney/Nikki Haley treatment, where his supposed ghoulishness gets waved aside because at least he’s ‘dignified’ and ‘well-behaved’, unlike Stratton who is an uncouth outsider.
Honestly, part of the reason there was little fuzz with Stratton breaking precedent and making a thirty year old his running mate was because Gloria was seen as a moderating influence on Stratton’s worst antics.
Of course, there remains the question of who moderates Gloria’s worst antics, but… We’ll bomb that bridge when we get to it.
Step 1: Become Mayor of New York.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Steal the moon.
Not at the moment, remember that Gloria thought he had another four years to ride Stratton’s coattails, so he hasn’t canvassed the party yet.
That said, Gloria greatly admires the National Union Party of the Civil War, so in the case that things deteriorate to a war, he is considering extending a hand across the aisle, so to say.
Does Stratton have opinions on Mars and the MC having a thing? Does he think Mars is too good for us? Will he threaten us if we don’t have Mars back before curfew?
Not yet- Mars and Stratton haven’t really had much chance to meet and the Marsmancers haven’t really gone out in public (tbh, basically none of the romances are that well-known to the public, the biggest one is Ignis and even that is more ‘she danced with the MC???’), but once he knows, expect Stratton to go:
