I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Nova.
Am I joking? Perhaps… perhaps not. But that motherfucker is like a Wish version of Tony Stark with AMM

Then what exactly is the MC there for then. You got the two Seekers and Forlorn who can pretty much handle anything and now theirs someone (probably Aki maybe Lat) who’s capable of reaching BK/BQ levels. Why isn’t OtherMC or OtherLat with them then? Getting them stronger sounds way more useful than trying to get MC and Lat to almost Seeker and Forlorn levels.
Yeah I gotta agree with you on that. It just doesn’t make any sense for MC and Lat to be around when Seeker and V can just handle anything. I’ve been having a feeling for a long time that the MC isn’t even a hero, just a sidekick that won’t do much in the final battle and I’m absolutely dreading it because it has the potential to ruin the story that was written this far.
The MC isn’t even a MC in this one which can be very frustrating at times and I hope this changes
If there was a MC for this, it’s Seeker much to my disgust.
I’m pretty sure it’s been said the final battle in this book will be a team fight against the King (because he’s that far above everyone)
And I think by the end of the series we should be on par with, or surpassing the trio, basically making our own trio in the form of MC, Lat and Aki and being more of a leader than the frontline bomb that Seeker and Forlorn are now.
Just played the game and this is my take on it, let’s call it a review.
Story: The story is very simple and kind of generic and after reading a bunch of WIPS and COG games this story feels like a very basic superhero/shonen anime mix that is at best average, I never felt any sort of curiosity at “what happens next” as it felt like I’ve seen it all, I think the lack of originality plays a role as a lot of other stories have done the exact things this story has done. Reminds me of the Black Adam movie where it just copied every other superhero and action movie trope and did nothing original.
Pacing: The pacing is not the slowest I’ve seen but pretty slow, the plot barely progresses and there isn’t that much going on in terms of action, you spend most of the time talking and hanging out with people, only the Intro chapter was interesting. When you do have action scenes its with generic and forgettable bad guys for the sake of plot.
Characters: The characters were ok but they weren’t interesting enough or had deep characterization, it felt more like a college group of teens with powers who hang out and all get along than an actual superhero group. I also noticed that the characters weren’t described properly or well enough in physical appearance when introduced, I don’t even remember what they look like. The conversations with the characters are also average, lacks character depth, conflict and drama. At best I would say its good but not great.
Backstory: MC has a chooseable backstory that is generic and forgettable, Lat has none and the other characters lack depth so I wasn’t invested in their backstories if they had any at all.
Setting: Unoriginal setting, the setting of Gigacity was a generic US city, and no locations were described to the best of my knowledge so I can’t even remember or picture the place, also suddenly we go to Japan?
Additional Issues:
1 - MC is an OP Mary Sue that is liked by everyone except that one guy and easily masters his/her ability as the chosen one, a passive character that is dragged along by story, no cool backstory and is basically a carbon copy of “generic shonen anime MC”. MC’s personality is also not that interesting or deep.
2 - Lacks immersion, I never felt like I was engrossed in the story at all, there wasn’t any mystery, thrill, drama, conflict, etc. Everything goes well for the MC and the superhero team and the city wasn’t really used to its best, the setting and lore was not used to its best.
3 - Weak and Shallow Romance - The romance is very quick and short, has no impact on the story.
4 - Linearity - The game is super linear, your choices don’t matter. Linear stories can be good but this one?
Summary -
The unoriginality of the story is its biggest mistake as it just goes from trope after trope without offering anything new or interesting in any of its themes. What this game does lots of stories have either done it first or better. This is a generic shonen anime/superhero story and does not excel in any particular field.
The writing per se is standard or good enough especially for someone who is not a native speaker (like me) but the actual story and characters is average. Latooni (strange name) for example is literally a best friend character than can be cut from the story and nothing would change, why is she there? Well best friend trope duh.
MC got OP powers, why? Chosen One out of nowhere duh. Everyone gets along with you and there’s barely any conflict, thrill or drama. Also Japan is a constant theme for some reason, Latooni Kitamura is half Japanese but she basically acts like a basic college American kid, also Latooni isn’t a Japanese or American name, Aki is a strange Superhero name for a European, then we also go to Japan and can go the hotsprings.
This story feels kinda like a self insert fanfiction instead of being an actual story. I can already guess the story ends with a super strong bad guy like Thanos who wants to takeover the world or something because its that generic and predictable.
Overall not a big fan, if other people like it thats cool but after reading masterpieces in the Superhero genres such as Fallen Hero 1 and 2, Heroes Rise Trilogy, Vendetta or Anime genres such as Knights of Evallon, Remnant 21 this pales in comparison unfortunately. Good luck to the author though
It’s already been said we’re not surpassing Seeker. We’re only confirmed to get close to him and Forlorn.
Can’t even surpass a broken man who will never go 100% as Seeker since Forlorn said he feels like Kratis can’t do it. And we got that other MC saying we need to be stronger than the both of them. Word of author said that other MC makes us an abomination that needs to be exterminated so that sounds like we’re meant to be a bigger threat than the trio.
not trying to be rude but that’s a plot hole right there.
OtherMC said we need to get to their level or close to it I believe not stronger
I’m sorry, but the conversation about the MC being too weak and unimportant followed immediately by “actually the MC is an overpowered Mary Sue” is making me giggle.
Aki is not European. (It’s pretty unclear where she’s from, if it’s even from Earth at all. Either way, not an easily identifiable European country.)
Because she is? Just bc her parents were immigrants doesn’t make her not American lol.
Also ngl these all feel like weird complaints for a story thats barely at its midpoint? Of course the romances are undercooked, they literally just started officially.
Honestely. I would enjoy this game more if we had more choice on who we want the MC to be. It feels like the only choice we currently have is to be a hero, and our best-friend is so damn annoying I groan everytime I have to interact with her.
Aki IS European, of Japanese descent.
Facts. Annoying BFF with strange name is a redundant character. Also yeah the choices are very limiting, a linear story can work fine in some cases, there are lots of stories that are linear ish but they had some choices from personality to winning or losing a fight.
There are fake choices aka flavor texts or real choices aka story branching choices but it has to be interesting. In this story you can be Cautious or Brave but the impact is small, you can be carefree or serious but it lacks depth.
Really? she is of Japanese descent? I couldn’t find this in the story, this wasn’t in the “Hero Profiles” or in the description of this page. Author should describe the heroes more clearly imo
According to her, the sun belongs on the sky, and the two of them on Earth.
Nothing else matters.
As i’ve said the past few days, individual strength isn’t the only indicator of relevance. Byakuya is a pretty important character in Bleach, despite the fact that Ichigo and Yhwach are on a completely different orbit from him by the end of the series. Same way with Kakashi in Naruto, Ohma (the actual protagonist) in Kengan, etc.
Strength isn’t what dictates your place in the narrative, what does so is your relation to the antagonists and other characters present, which, as I said, is much stronger for Lat and the MC than it is for everyone else in the cast except maybe Aki.
The final battle won’t be against the King, but there are several foes that need to be taken down, including an actual army.
One of them, you cannot face, but the MC will play a significant part in defeating the two others, as leader for one and assistant for the other.
You’re China.
The Main Trio are the Allies.
The bad guys are the Imperial Japanese.
Get a grasp of the idea?
Nah, she’s not.
Aki and Forlorn’s nationalities (or just their general origin) is meant to be a secret still. What I have said before is that they look European, or generally Scandinavian to be slightly more specific.
Aki’s name is, well, Aki, because the characters that make up the word in Japanese can be translated as ‘Second Hope’, something that Forlorn considers her to be.
It is not, this is brought up if you choose to interact with her in Chapter 4. She mentions that her father chose it because of some reason she isn’t privy to.
The name is a reference to a character in the Super Robot Wars series, Latune Subbota. The original NA releases of the games mistranslated her name as ‘Latooni’, but a part of the fandom believes it to sound better than Latune (which is Russian), and Lat’s father, as a worker of the video game industry, is part of that subset of the fandom.
I’m sorry you haven’t enjoyed the game or the characters. Thanks for giving it a read.
Not really maybe at the beginning he was the antagonist, but he’s mostly irrelevant after the first arc, and his only shining moment after is at the last arc and getting his ass beat near death to motivate the other characters.
I agree to a certain extent, but since it’s a superhero story strength is pretty important. When those more powerful enemies appear what use is the MC going to be when the Seekers and the BK level prodigy are there. Not expecting to be the strongest, but when you have enemies and your teammates that outclass you so much and we’re never getting close to their level, it’s hard for me to believe that we’re going to be that relevant in those fights.
It could always be worse, like being Yamcha’ed. He was a decent character that was on par with Kid Goku til the end of Dragon Ball and when Z came, dude kept on getting killed and curbstomped that he just quit fighting. But at this point, I feel like that might be a good option and just leave it to the others to handle everything.
Think in terms of the Titans. You have Wally West who is most often the fastest Flash, you have Donna Troy who is a slightly weaker version of WW, you have Raven a ridiculously powerful psychic, you have Beast Boy who can turn into any animal ever, you have Cyborg with all his insane tech. and then you have Roy and Dick, both just peak humans but ones that are not overshadowed by the rest of the team, they have their own strengths. What good is a super powered team if they can’t coordinate and get taken down one by one? You need a leader, you need the kind of ingenuity that someone absurdly strong won’t have reason to figure out.
That’s like asking why the Justice League has more members than just the three strongest. Regardless of strengths, they can’t be everywhere at once and there are more threats than there are heroes.
That’s just not true. He was on par with Goku once in his introduction while Goku was weakened and from that point on is left in the dust power wise, their very next fight is Goku sending Yamcha flying with not much effort on his part and then Tenshinhan break his legs.
Actually easily beating a Saibaman (before getting surprised by the suicide attack) might be his biggest win in the entier franchise.
Who said they’re going to be there?
And even if they are, well, you’re facing down a few million all at once. Pretty sure there’s gonna be a way to have every member of a 7v13million battle contribute somehow.
Not to even begin talking about the twelve front wars and the armies you’re all going to be leading.
It can be, it doesn’t always have to be. Even so, the MC isn’t weak, he’s just not the strongest. You’re still likely to end within the top ten, if not top five strongest people in the planet.
The United States is richer than the rest of the G7 countries combined, but we don’t go around saying that Japan, Germany, France, the UK, Italy and Canada are irrelevant, do we?
we’re gonna contribute by cheering Darkstar on as he demolishes them all singlehandedly Doom Slayer style
Literally every character on that roaster is, like every DC character, overpowered as hell. Even Batman.
