So the Basilisk is a strange form of the Reformists

@Frieza Hard to resist bowing before those Scorned Elf lasses! All that pleasure and pain…

@Patrick_Cody02

Great comparison, I never thought of it like that. Similar, I would say, but the Basilisk does not only intended to remake the concept of godhood but the state of nations and governance.

Whereas the rebels are similar to Levellers, the Basilisk cultists can be likened to, though this is not exact, proto-communists without the class consciousness in that they believe in a highly centralised state of enforced egalitarianism. They believe that only machines can provide this, the cold logic devoid of human-considerations, will ensure a standardised quota of rationing with the absolute destruction of the concept of individualism.

Roachies, revolutionaries, royalists, road warriors, dwarven supremacists and cultists, have a merry Krogmas. Celebrated all over Behatland, a legacy from the time of orc dominion, folks indulge in gluttony and heavy drinking while opening wrapped packages of ā€˜loot.’

How do you become a Basilisk cultist? The character I created is a half-dwarf gadgetician. When you first get to the crawler I go to the cultists and choose to take a cog and join and then when I try to help spread the Infuence of the Basilisk the group turns me away. Did I do something wrong or am I missing a requirement or do I need to make another choice?

Hi, mate,

I’ll check it in the morning and let you know (it’s approaching midnight here and am full up with Krogmas roasted runtling). If I find any issues I’ll correct them and upload in the the morning too.

A dwarf gadgetician should be the perfect character for a cultist!

EDIT: BTW Merry Krogmas!

Merry Krogmas.

I have worked in that, if you join the weird cult of engine mates, you get the Basilisk helm variable when you take the cogs. You will have to start again, but it should be okay now.

Happy cog and coil winding, mate!

I found another problem. I am trying the Basilisk MC Path, and I can’t seem to continue the path, regardless of if I did the task properly or if I helped the cult grow their influence, I seem to fail the path story and the cultisits, especially their leader, left the MC for dead

Question, the Bastion Knight MC vs Iron Man of Marvel, who would win?

Hi Patrick-
Where does the leader leave you for dead- is this in the Iron Hill pub or elsewhere? Please let me know.

To confirm, did you kill Coireal? Are you an ā€˜agent of the Basilisk’ -have they formally declared you an agent?

Iron Man has ultra-modern tech against steampunk tech, with a hint of magic. In this case, Iron Man would win with the initiate Bastion Knight, perhaps not if they get upgrades…

I did everything. Becoming an agent to assassination. But no matter what I do, it allways happens. It happens after the Basilisk took over

Thanks mate- could you answer these too:

Are you an engine mate or something else- maybe a dispatch?

Did you kill Coireal in the ashland or on the crawler?

This just helps me track things down.

I have made a few fixes although I could not find a reason for your issue. I have reinforced the variable checks to see if you are both an agent and have killed Coireal.

You will need a fresh start to test this- will upload it in a bit.

EDIT: BUT- Patrick, the Iron Hill is the end of the demo for the Basilisk!

EDITEDIT: I have uploaded it and played through the engine mate path and found that I was able to join the cultists. Let me know if you are still having problems. Please start a new playthrough as I have changed some variables.

UPDATE 7 (approx 90K, 700k total- 14th January 2025)

I have included many TESTING start options after you pick your name and race, which places you straight into Fort Ard, when you first arrive and leave the crawler. These may come with additional bugs- please report these similarly though be aware that each prepared start locks you into certain choices. It is very helpful to have some starting options allowing testers to explore newer content, though you can still start again if you wish.

Please note- the Basilisk path, after the events at the Iron Hill Pub, is available on Patreon ( Basilisk Revolution Update 8 (renumbered updates) | Patreon ) and will be updated here next month.

*-Start your game in Fort Ard using the TESTER OPTIONS after you have created your character.

-Join the rebels and gather allies to your cause.

-Discover a lost goblin tribe, with baborcs!

-Engage in an artillery duel with the Despair’s Demise.

-Fight a battle on the ash plains against the crawler’s road fleet.

-Board the crawler to begin retaking it for your cause.

-OR, join the royalists.

-After fighting your way to the Baron’s Quarter, discover the nefarious events within.

-Just what has the Baron been up to? You will decide his fate before returning back to the crawler.

-OR, flee the city in various ways and join the New Yeirshee Pirate fleet.

Hi road warriors, revolting masses and ardent royalists. You can now battle through Fort Ard and reach the crawler to further your side of the revolution. Or, fail and join the New Yeirshee road fleet. Things got very complicated coding and writing this section as so many old variables come into play.

I hope you all enjoy and please let me know if there are any bugs or errors.

@Emroth

Thanks mate. Each path is different as I want to encourage replayability. The Fort Ard section is huge as so many past variables come into play, although once the revolution has settled it will make it a bit simpler for me going forward as paths will not be so tangled.

This thread is blessed by your presence, Master Cultivator!

I have been working on it since I sent the the final version to Green, although December was my least productive month for a long time.

I have a plan and the first phase is done but the timeline still hangs in the balance…

Congrats on your new update, mate. The depths of the web are abuzz with activity!

EDIT:

Quick note- I forget to put this on my update post.

Patreons (Orc or Krog tier) are voting on the next section to be worked on. The poll has been open for weeks and will close at the end of tomorrow just in case anyone missed it. Looks like the Royalists will be next to seize control of the crawler. Or fail.

Just to make you aware, Dashingdon hosting will be closing soon so I would recommend moving this to cogdemos or uploading a compiled html file:

Thanks, @HarrisPS for letting us all know. Dashingdon is one of the legendary artefacts of our IF community. Massive thanks @dashingdon for all you have done these past years.

I have placed A Shriek of Ash and Fire on Cogdemos. Since I am new to this site, there might be teething issues. If there are any issues please let me know.

The new link is in the opening post. I’ll place it here too for convenience. CoGDemos

EDIT: If there are any problems on the new site please message me here, you can PM me if you prefer. Better to get any errors nipped in the bud!
