Hey is the big fixed because I just got it after the first meeting with the lord of despair
Hi Nathan,
Is this the forum version (the link found here) or the Patreon version?
The forum
Ok, I thought the issue was with an old Patreon version, which was fixed. It must still persist in the forum version.
I will sort it out a in a few hours when I get to the files. Cheers for letting me know.
EDIT: I have updated the build and it should not contain the error anymore. This will probably affect saves as it changes variables.
Please let me know if the error persists or if any others crop up and thanks for playing!
EDIT 5th October 2024:
The Patreon version of A Shriek of Ash and Fire has been updated. Currently, we have 612k of content there. The revolution has started!
Krog Pile | Writing Interactive Fiction | Patreon
Hosted Games Forum version will have an update in a couple of weeks, though will be behind the Patreon version.
UPDATE 5 (50K, 531k total- 11th November 2024)
Here, you have the first part of the Fort Ard Update, 50k+ bringing this version of the game to over 500k words. How will you spend your time on the eve of revolution?
-Take the load off and enjoy a street festival.
-Or, if your cloth is cut properly, enter an exclusive club.
-Or, kick back in a pub with the rest of the crawler boys and girls.
-Lots of variable-dependent events. This scene could pass quickly or not, depending on your choices. Some choices are only available to certain professions.
-Potentially, get closer with Colonel Thrayton, Sera or add a notch to Gibletiâs, already hacked-to-pieces, bedpost.
-If you have become one of the Evagrey twinsâ favoured bootlickers, get a chance to delve into their past and uncover another side of this sadistic pair.
Back to the crawler path for this update. Last month, my attention was on the release of An Unexpectedly Green Journey so work slowed. Also, the events following this update deal with the outbreak of revolution and have become very complicated. Due to this, this monthâs update is smaller as I have had to find a convenient cut-off point. The Patreon version is currently going through the outbreak of revolution, but the scene has many dead ends as there is so much to consider.
There are many new variables here, which may mess with old saves. As always, I am open to feedback and bug/typo fixes though might be slower on the uptake this month.
Best wishes to you all!
This is fire
Whoa, the concept of the MC being a Bastion Knight is interesting. It is like you created your own Iron Man in Arbit/Behatland. The Dark Side of the Continent called Zthullu. Looking forward to that path
The Bastion Knights are tough iron men/women for sure. Once the revolution breaks out, you might also get a peek at what has become of Father Roach. If you are Iron Man/Woman then he is the Tungsten Man.
If you want even greater power potential, you (or Sera) could also become the Abhidhar of Zthullu.
Perhaps something even worse awaits in those blasted ashlands.
Is that like the Dark Mage of Zthullu? Stronger than the Dark Orc MC you made in the first game?
I am also guessing that you havenât watched Marvel. I mean Iron Man, like the person who has that hero name is Tony Stark.
Haha, I knew who you meant with Iron Man. I was just talking in the context of the game.
It is sort of like the Dark Mage of Zthullu and is connected with the demonic thrones, though it has more to do with the beliefs of Nagaswelt. Here, the demons are not necessarily embraced as a means of âevil.â It may be misguided, but Nagaswelt believes, in a world of dwindling magic, that the ethereal powers of the demon thrones might be used to better their own position in the world, to serve them rather than they serve the Darkness.
In the first game, the demon route had you literally burn the entire world. The Abhidhar (Snake wearer) of Zthullu is the pinnacle of the Nagarese arts of magic, a means to control Zthullu not intended to turn against Behatland. Although, perhaps it could be.
The vehicle combat parts were irritating
Thatâd be impressive considering i mercy killed him
Would he be like those automated exoskeletons in new vegas with the corpses in them?
Some of the vehicle combat is scripted but I needed a way to deal with the smaller fights of less importance. Yes, tricky to do and not to everyoneâs taste- âirritatingâ is not the best- RNG is not something I like but it was for ease of use here. These will make an appearance mostly on part of the New Yeirshee path. I may tinker with it again.
I donât think heâll want to see you then! In a good or bad way.
But yes, you are right- like an embryo in hullkng armour.
Stronger than the Pantheon of Beyond and Below?
Like the HulkBuster?
Just got the snake mage on my first run since the first demo. Nearly all stats filled to 75%+
seems I lucked into powergaming, lol
Not stronger than the Pantheon- they can influence the people of the world through emotions, dreams and vices. The Abhidar is more of a physical weapon, which can intimidate but does not twist the emotions of mortals the way the pantheon can. Plus, the Abhidar, in its normal form, is just your MC, a mortal who can die.
Yes, I think that is a great comparison, sort of like the Hulk Buster though probably not as broad, perhaps a little taller.
Welcome back to the wasteland mate!
Some things may need to be balanced. This game will not be too harsh with stat checks. I also have a skill system which can override low stats most of the time. I want to make absolute failure less of a possibility here, though sometimes, as in Brakka, failure will open up a new path (to be a prisoner on a Cold Pact Crawler.)
But to get to be the (drum roll) Abhidhar on your first go, to become a legendary creature, sure shows your Roachpede has the knack and a great future!
The New Yeirshee path is currently the shortest- you might like to explore the Brakka and crawler path too if you have time time. Although this game is not as free form as Green, I want to encourage multiple playthroughs.
Patreon Early Access Build 6 is up, bringing that version to 704k content.
-Join the rebels and gather allies to your cause.
-Discover a lost goblin tribe, with baborcs!
-Engage in an artillery duel with the Despairâs Demise.
-Fight a battle on the ash plains against the crawlerâs road fleet.
-Board the crawler to begin retaking it for your cause.
-OR, join the royalists.
-After fighting your way to the Baronâs Quarter, discover the nefarious events within.
-Just what has the Baron been up to? You will decide his fate before returning back to the crawler.
-OR, flee the city in various ways and join the New Yeirshee Pirate fleet- for Krog Tier members.
This also comes with TESTING options which allow a player to start in Fort Ard.
Later this month, the HG version will be updated to include the beginning of the revolution though will be behind the Patreon version. A benefit of this is that the HG version comes with extra bug fixes for a greater cost in patience.
I havenât looked at it quite yet and I could be wrong but I think you forgot to mark it as updated it was 8 days ago as of writing this so I. Could be wrong but it looks like the games infront of it on dashingdon where updated last month in some cases so again could be wrong.
Hi mate,
I might have uploaded a fix on DashingDon 8 days ago (canât remember) but I havenât updated the content on the HG forum since November, I am planning to soon but am away from home right now, using a cranky old laptop. It is a slow running beast and, at present, I am trying to piece together the next patch for Green.
But expect an update to A Shriek of Ash and Fire soon!
