mc has already been carrying around a lot of betrayal and hurt from their childhood but has always shoved those feelings to the side in order to function and be productive. i so wish they started to have a really hard time trying to do that in book 2.

If I’m remembering correctly a lot of people (including me) suggested that during the making of Book 1 but Parivir thought it would ruin the pacing so eh.
Best we can do now is headcanon.

I guess my stance on most of the discourse is that I am more than willing to wait and see what comes next. There’s no reason things can’t be added or removed so I’ll really hold my judgement on everything until it’s all said and done.
The one thing I really wish for in book 1 was a flashback involving the most important battle of the war. I think it would really add that pizazz of seeing the team transition from happy-go-lucky adventurers to soldiers.

that part is really interesting to me too! leon in particular is the one i would love to have a little more of an eye on during that three-year time skip since he’s the one who i think really undergoes changes to his core character as the sense of responsibility he feels is continually ratcheted up. mc seems to be carrying a lot of the military load during the war, but i get like a quiet sense that there’s a part of leon’s world that mc (+all of the white fangs really) starts to get locked out of bc he’s the king, and that’s fundamentally a very lonely, isolating experience. i would love to know what he was thinking about during that time period and how that lead us to the bbq.
i don’t totally mind having to use my imagination here though bc it makes sense that if the mage wouldn’t know it, we wouldn’t know it either. this is what headcanon/fic is for lol

I hope the author includes some more Pro-Arcardian scenes in Book 2 so that we arent forced to go down the ‘Revenge is Bad’ route and join Param again.

Honestly, I’m really surprised MC’s trust issues don’t seem present, or at least to not be… That bad, all things considered. If I was in their shoes, I’m not sure how well I’d ever be able to trust someone, considering the whole “multiple of the people closest to me have tried to kill me” thing!
(It’s part of why I want to see them develop closer bonds with people like Illya and F specifically, because they’re both very honest and upfront about their desires/dislike, something I think an MC with issues in regards to the murder attempt(s) would appreciate!)
