Possible patreon spoilers but not really: Honestly, after doing some “character analysis” which got confirmed in the demo, I can’t really be mad at Leon to the point of wanting to kill him. He is still a moron who acted on his emotions, but at least I understand why he did it. I don’t know how the plot will progress later on, but I don’t think I would kill him if it means burning bridges with probably every other character from Book 1.
@comradelenin I am sick of that too, but there is honestly a very big possibility that the plot will take the tlou2 way of “revenge bad”. All I can do now is hope it won’t be so simple.

Don’t really care tbh. Sick of these anti-revenge narratives.

Just saying that it’s very likely you are not going to get what you what here so prepare yourself for disappointment

omg thinking about it this could get really crazy the impression i got from the demo was that saine was totally ready to put you down but only if you turned out to be like a zombie that was just wearing mc’s skin but that could really come off as him just taking leon’s side in the divorce. once again, one of mc’s dearest friends is ready to get rid of them as soon as they personally become a problem for them. i think it could be persuasive to them even if it weren’t totally accurate just based on the pattern their life has always followed

True think it’s more likely that Parivir will change their mind then Havenstone

My MC doesn’t mind risking her life to save innocents, and would lay her life down for her friends (and love) in a heartbeat. But, if you fuck her over and betray her? She will wreck your ass. And, for all intents and purposes, her “friends” didn’t just betray her, they stabbed her in the back repeatedly. And the man she was in love with killed her without any thought or consideration for what she had done up to that point.

As for Saine… well, if he’s already thinking of offing my MC, and acts on it, it’s called self-defense. I don’t see her giving any of these people a chance to burn her alive again.

Funny, the Patreon stuff has just made me hate Leon more. My MC doesn’t know he feels bad about it (and, honestly, she wouldn’t care: “Oh, you burn me alive but you feel really bad about it? Fuck you, Leon, let’s see how you like it.”).

Ditto, but I think @Kungoru is right and we should prepare for the same old same old “revenge is bad, mmmkay?” narrative. I’m just wondering how it will be pitched in a way that makes Y and F “redeemable” so that they aren’t automatically slaughtered by the golden boy for being Arcadian. I actually like them, which is more than I can say of anyone in Param save for Aunt Bess, at this point.

@lairiend I took it a bit differently. Remember in ME3 when Kaidan or Ashley told Shepard that they’d rather Shep be dead than have the Illusive Man bring them back? I get the same vibe from Saine.

What are you people talking about?

he didn’t think it was you until like a moment before the arcadians hit the bricks. it’s a bit of a patreon spoiler but later when he reflects on what the hell that was all about he turns over the idea of it a) not actually being a mc, b) being an mc that is just a zombie, c) being a true version of mc that’s being mind controlled or otherwise extorted, or d) being an mc who has fully turned against param. iirc, he’s ready to take you out for options a or b, but has a harder time with option d.

edit: @comradelenin in the patreon demo there is an interlude where all of the white fangs try to make sense of mc being back

edit II: @EvilChani oh that’s really interesting! i’m kind of down for that would love for baby boy to get morally ambiguous!

edit III: i also may have said too much :zipper_mouth_face:

Honestly, if my long dead friend came back as a zombie who wants to kill me, I also wouldn’t take my chances so can’t blame him for that.

Patreon stuff but also if you if you want a game series where you can have your revenge cake and eat it too  Fallen Hero is heading in that direction

I don’t think there’s anything in-game that suggests Leon would slaughter them just for being Arcadian. If they tried to kill him and Arcadia waged war on Param, as Tahlia plans for Arcadia to do, he would maybe kill them then, but at that point it’s self defence.

If the people demand it or if he got in a bad mood or if someone made it look like they were working against him (or about a billion other excuses he could make), he’d slaughter F, Y, Eli, the MC, and anyone else. At this point, killing him is self-defense. And same goes for Saine, given his thoughts about having to murder the MC again.

Which is absolutely hilarious, because my Sidestep is totally a hero and the only ones she wants to take down are the government and SD. Then again, that’s kind of Aella’s mindset in AMR, too–she wants revenge on the people who turned on her.

LOVE the fallen hero comparison here as well bc i also do wish we got a little bit of the fhr experience of an mc who has something deeply, deeply wrong with them after experiencing that level of trauma

Edit:

shit i’d become the joker too

Yea for someone who got burnt alive, Mage is relatively fine, outside of some childhood trauma, but that stuff haunted them before the execution

I guess it’s better to have an option to roleplay, I just wished it would deeply affect the core character of the Mage which reader could choose how to deal with it, but I am starting to ask for too much.

See, I think that’s part of the problem. I do view the mage as very psychologically damaged. Between the childhood trauma and having people she repeatedly bled for burn her alive, it would screw with her head. As it should. And experiencing being murdered, no matter how it was done, would have an effect and mess them up. And that’s how I play my mage.

Parivir said that there will be a neutral path besides the insanity path. The insanity path is more the get your revenge on both sides by just killing them all path. Speaking of which I really hope that there is not going to be a happy golden path since I find those to be very boring in most games. Really love the Geneforge series for not having them in most of the games (And even the one in 5 still takes a lot of death to get to that point)

I like happy paths, but my idea of happy in this game (thus far) would be my mage living happily ever after with Falco and Yu on an island somewhere (and bring Aunt Bess) after she burns Leon and Ante alive. Screw everyone else–let them fight their own battles and kill each other, for all she cares at this point.

I prefer a golden path. Bout time something went really well for MC.
