A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED April 5th, 2025 | Book One Released!

From what I understand, our MC technically can use all 5 phantasmas, its just that using anything that’s not Earthsworn and the chosen Phantasma in book 1 will immediately fry our mana ducts to the point we wont be able to use them anymore. There are so many spells for each Phantasma in this game that, I cant say for certain, but I don’t think Parivir plans to add even more for our personal use. What I think will happen, is that at some point in the plot we will have a choice to do something with out mana ducts/overall mana to be able to use those phantasmas indefinitely, obviously at some sort of cost (easiest would be having a life limit from some sort of curse or something like that).

To be fair, I like the way it is. If you want to save all 7 children - gonna have to pay in some sort of way. I don’t know about other injuries since I always choose the scar, but that alone already has some flavored text from Y at the beginning of Book 2.
Also, if Parivir chooses to leave the character re-creation as it is, you can always choose an injury to your own liking, without having to live with the stat reduction as well

Tahlia did say in the beginning of Book 2 that the MC should refrain from using their phantasma until she can get Eli to heal their mana ducts completely

The reason why Our Mana-tapes are like that is because we did nothing but use our Phantasma for 5 years for the war-effort. If mage used it more sparingly, it wouldn’t come to that. What I meant is that if, at any moment during Book 1, our Mage decided to use other 3 Phantasmas that weren’t chosen, their mana-ducts would immediately stop working to the point they wouldn’t be able to use mana anymore.

Actually, I think it’s the exact opposite. Tahlia did say in the beginning of Book 2 that the MC should refrain from using their phantasma until she can get Eli to heal their mana ducts completely. She even cautioned the MC of using powerful spells, because even those could damage their mana ducts further. Only normal or “ercei” spells are truly safe to use.

As for the injury, I also chose scarred face since I think it has the least impact on anything. The second one would be the knee injury. The one I have the hardest time accepting is the brain impairment, since it impairs the MC’s ability to learn things quickly.

Anyway, which do you think is the funniest moment in Book 1? For me, I think it is using self-made truth serum on the Baron of House de Silcur during the Moonvein Plague arc. The part where the Baron tries but fails to stop the truth from spewing out of his mouth is just hilarious. :joy:

For me, if you romanced Ilya, the funniest moment would have to be Saine tackling Leon then teleporting then you immediately hear a big yelp coming from Leon. All because he couldn’t even read the room and that annoyed Saine cause Saine knew what was gonna happen.

LMAO! I didn’t know that, because my MC hasn’t romanced anyone so far. It seems that Saine, despite being an ace, has more tact and awareness than his big brother Leon.

This, this was gold and absolutely hilarious. Saine tackling Leon and blinking away was hands down my favourite moment in the book.

Ok, but why did I just realize that the reason Thalia “took a risk” on MC over Mireil is because MC has four phantasma to lose forever compared to Mireil having one?

I mean she sees him as a tactical advantage, a powerful mage. I don’t think she’s ever had sentimental attachment to him, more likely to have sentimental attachment to Mir considering her flashbacks. so yeah. Thalia is an intelligent person, I can give her that much even if I’m going to betray her in the end.

Just a silly little thought I’ve been thinking about: Since Tahlia, Yu, F, and the MC are of the Mateus bloodline, that means they’re essentially relatives, right? Distant relatives, perhaps, but still relatives. And since they are related by blood, I find the possibility of romancing either Yu or F… kinda strange.

Incidentally, I have this thought because my MC shares the same hair colour with Yu (my MC has auburn hair, which is still a type of red hair) and the same eye colour with F. At first I thought their similar hair and eye colours are related to our choices from the MC’s creation(shared genetics), but then I tried a different random MC with different hair and eye colours just to confirm my suspicion, and I found that it was just crazy coincidence. Nevertheless, when I played the Book 2 demo for the first time and Yu tried to hit on the MC at the beginning, I was like, “Er… you do realise that we’re relatives, right?” No matter how charming Yu can be, sharing the same bloodline with them is a no no when it comes to romance for me.

Almost all people are connected by blood in one way or another. There is nothing strange or wrong here, considering how many time have passed since fall of Arcadia and Mateus bloodline.

Ah well, personal opinion, I guess.

Yeah it’s been a while. Tahlia says like 7 generations ago that Arcadia fell I think?

Well semi asleep lol but in answer far as I am aware and could be wrong so author might be better to answer.

The mateus bloodline is not just one family it’s multiple family’s of high powered magical capability. We get glimpse of this through the flash back on the fall of arcadia by the various dynasts family’s mentioned.

Does get me to wondering though just how many excaped capture or death. T, Y, and F are the strongest users in arcadia apart from Eli and Mc.
I however don’t see them being related especially directly.

Unless their families were into incest to “protect the bloodline” like the Egyptian pharaohs did, they’re not related. Sure, they all come from the same blood but several generations might be okay since there’s been plenty of genetic breeding that those 3 aren’t exactly full Mateus.

Okay, as someone who has only played the demo for book 1, then the demo for book 2, and learned that Leon has the MC burned alive at the end of book 1, I have a question:

Why in ten hells would the MC ever betray the ones who brought her back to life to help the dick who killed her in one of the most painful methods possible and a group of people she repeatedly risked her life for only to have them salivate over her painful death like a bunch of rabid dogs?

It’s funny… I played the book 1 demo and had a MC who was extremely noble and stoic, helped Leon and Ilya, and could imagine her falling for the blonde douchebag. With the book 2 demo, that same MC was bitter and wants revenge. Arcadia helped her. She’s gotten more kindness from them then she could ever get from Leon and that lot (sorry, any niceties are erased the moment he deep fries her and, from what I have seen higher up on this board, had the utter gall to punch her in the face because she said she’d never forgive him). Seriously, screw that guy.

I haven’t decided if I’m buying this or not, but Falco, Yu, and Eli’s presences in the book 2 demo are making me lean toward getting it provided a few things: a decent romance with one of the three aforementioned ROs, and the ability for my MC to avenge her own death by ripping Leon’s manly parts off and shoving them down his damned throat before burning him the same way he burned her.

My mc still likes Saine and Illya, but has no intention of betraying the Arcadians. They’ve been good to him and he has no reason to dislike them.

I’m actually really surprised at how contentious the Arcadians are since before the fist book came out, there were like, three people who opposed their plan to revive the empire.

Yeah yeah, I know the point of that type of story is that empires can’t truly return and you need to move on but that’s BORING. I want an empire!

I tend not to like empires on principle, and I’m sure there’s a lot I don’t know since I only played the demos, but it’s difficult for me to imagine playing an MC who would betray the people who saved her (and are actually nice to her–even Falco kinda is, ffs). Especially if doing so means helping a man she (probably) loved who murdered her in cold blood for something he knew she didn’t do and a bunch of people who wanted him to do it. Except for Aunt Bess (who I totally loved in the b1 demo), all of them can suck it. If establishing an empire is the only way to kill them all, so be it.

Personally I don’t think empires are inherently better or worse than other countries. Depends on the empire. I think I could do a decent job of it.

I only really want Leone. The people of the kingdom didn’t kill me, and Illya and Saine stuck with us to the end.

Oof! The angst. XD
I hope you find satisfaction in your plan for revenge.

As for my MC, he has chosen to forgive Leon and all the Parami. But he won’t give Param anymore than he already has. Being a noble-hearted Mage that he is, he ignored Ilya’s advices twice during both the bandit camp mission and the Moonvein Plague arc to save as many lives as he could. However, he will heed Ilya’s advice this time; she was right when she said Param doesn’t deserve more from the MC, so he will not do anything for the nation anymore… unless Ilya and Saine’s lives are in danger. Oh, and Aunt Bess, too.

Yeah, my mage started out noble hearted, and actually still behaves that way with the Arcadia folks, but she absolutely hates Leon and the people of Param now. At least, based on my understanding of what happened…

You say Ilya and Saine were still good to the MC? In the b1 demo, my mage ignored Ilya, too, to save all those kids, and got a bad knee for it (kept making me think of Skyrim: “I used to be an adventurer too, until I took an arrow to the knee.”) but it was worth it.

I’m just trying to learn as much as I can about the story while I waffle on buying it. And I’m a spoiler whore, so don’t hold back if you want to share! :stuck_out_tongue:

I just played the fan game and loved that the MC can torment Leon and be nasty to him. It was quite satisfying to do that. Just wish he would suffer more, lol.

Edit: Ah, screw it. I’m gonna buy the game. If Adam’s writing can get me this riled up just from the demos, he’s clearly a good enough writer for me to risk it. I’m off tomorrow from work and have time to play it. I’ll likely be on a rant from hell once I finish…

They did try to bust us out of prison despite having little reason to believe us.
