80s Style Slasher Flick game

Well, I was actually hoping for someone to talk about stats.

Is there some further documentation I missing? Because I get that you edit the text file in notepad, and then the mygame.js file tells the browser how to use them… at least I assume that’s how it works, but I can’t do anything with the mygame.js file.

@Shoelip

you can open mygame.js with notepad just right click and select ‘open with…’

As for stats howabout

Brawn - determines how strong you are
Brains - determines how smart you are
Personality - determines how charming you can be
Stamina - determines how much you can do (ie high stamina means you can run for longer, fight for longer,)
Agility - determines how quick and nimble you are
Perception - determines how aware you are of things (high perception you can tell if people are nervous/lying etc)

sorta unrelated but has anybody here played Hitman: Blood Money?

Yes, why?

The reason im askin is maybe the MC could be the killer and each chapter could be made up of a bunch of murders and at the end it shows a newspaper clipping tht tells of the murders and how they died as well as witnesses, evidence left behind, a description of the killer, and the police’s efforts to catch the killer.

the newspaper clipping bit i took from it, u know when after a mission it shows a newspaper clipping describin how u did in the mission

@Zed Interesting, but not really good for the genre type. Slasher flicks normally take place in a more enclosed space without outside interaction. Maybe something similar though? Some kind of recap at the end of each ‘episode’.

Maybe the recap can come from your boss if you have one.

@Reapreroa It’s a good idea but how would the player get the police report?it would be easier to just get newspaper clippings.

@Reaperoa,
Exactly what i mean in a way a recap thing at the end of each segment like a mocumentary film where it appears in a case file where it talks about what happened to the victims,Etc.

Or maybe in the form of a police report? Like they’re trying to figure out what exactly happened.

yea sorta with what i was going for the first time i talked about it

@Zed You know you aren’t really supposed to be killing tons of people in Hitman… I mean, maybe in the new game Absolution that’s coming out, but in Blood Money you were technically supposed to be stealthy. And actually the apparent forced lack of stealth in Absolution is a big point of contention for the fans.

As for the reports, it’s an interesting idea, but I’m not really far enough along to see how it would fit into the game. My idea so far is that you’re going to be playing a young male or female character who is going to an isolated location with a bunch of young horny people to get drunk and high and laid and then get stalked by a crazy murderer. Yeah a summary of events at the end in a newspaper could be cool, but it’s really far from where I am right now.

Ok, actually, I can imagine it’d be an interesting way to be able to see the aftermath of the killings even if your character dies, and I could change it depending on what happened in the game. Hm.

Please use the edit button instead of double posting.

@Shoelip Will you be able to kill the Psycho Serial killer or will you just be hunted by him in the woods and trying to find a way to escape.

Well my idea was that you’d start out interacting with the other NPCs and establishing relationships, then you’d have the part where the murderer starts killing. I was hoping to find a way to make the killer not always go after the same person first, and it wouldn’t always be clear that they had killed someone. Once the player does become aware of the killer though it’s their choice if they want to try to save the other NPCs, which NPCs they want to try to save, or whether they just want to look out for themselves. I figure it’d be possible to take down the killer, but much harder to finish them off, so there would be quite a bit of hunting until you find a final solution or die.

I meant as an OOC sort of ‘recap’.

@Shoelip,
I know you weren’t supposed to kill everybody in Blood Money, but i only got it last year in a trip overseas and if i didn’t use the IGN Guide, most of the missions would turn into bloodbaths. I mean i could do stealthy but never well enough to get Silent Assassin ranking.

Hm… So guys, any idea how I could possibly make a list of 9 or 10 playable characters all of whom besides the chosen PC become NPCs in the game?

It seemed like a good idea, but now that I think about it it might be way too complex for me to handle if it’s even possible.

Yea, for the whole ‘player chooses one of ten npcs’ that would end up with, essentially a partial rewrite of virtually every scene, to account of the PCs absence as an NPC. A similar (more workable) idea (if you’re looking for it) would be to have would be to have the PC be one of 3~4 possible characters (from 2~4 difference cliques). After the player chooses, do a bit of scene setting/introduction, then, separate the PC possibles and kill them off (it would be best to use it as a way to set the PC’s attributes also).
