I definitely find L&J intriguing. I’ve been trying to see if there was some way I could raise my stealth and combat skills enough to sneak up on the three bandits while still keeping my persuasion skills high enough to run into that encounter in the first place.
I’ve fixed quite a few errors and reworked the inventory system. It’s really basic now but immersion in the story is maintained and it still rewards high strength and having backpacks, duffel bags, etc.
I really like the new inventory system, it’s much more enjoyable to play than the old one.
New inventory system looks good, although I find the three items per place a little weird - having a maximum amount you can carry and the ability to drop stuff would make more sense, I think - but it’s definitely easier and quicker to use than before.
I’m replaying as a soldier and, well I’m neither American nor in the military, but I’d have thought my character would have more than a single pistol (with crossbow/bow optional) weapons wise. Also, when I kicked L and J out and kept their gear, I clicked on the ‘see what they left behind’ button and got: Our apologies; there was a 404 error while loading game data. Please refresh your browser now; if that doesn’t work, please email support-external@choiceofgames.com with details. I tried it again with a different character and got the same thing.
Yes, I agree. The new inventory system is definitely an improvement.
I found one error, when I choose the MMO fighter background and invite J and L I told him that I am martial arts expert, after cleaning his Cut he asked me if I have weapons and I told him I don’t need weapons he says that oh then you must be a martial arts expert or something.
@jcury @CC_RR @Stark @Opisthenar glad you like the new inventory system. It’s not as realistic, but’s much easier to code. I can focus on the story and not spend so much time on one feature.
@Opisthenar for soldier, you chose the custom option?
@jcury I’ll fix that continuity error. Thanks!
What sort of issues did the “Custom Stat” option cause during editing? I really liked that feature.
Can you give some more info on the “Delusions” challenge? I use it for two of my characters and it looks like it could lead to some pretty funny moments (shooting at/bringing alarm to a figure that isn’t really there - making people question your sanity). I assume we have medication for it? It never shows us taking it, or mentioning it in our supplies, no matter how little it is.
I’m not entirely sure what you mean by ‘custom option’. I chose the soldier profession and the ‘Military Commander’ sub-profession.
Is there a part in the game where you might become infected
@WolfieGrey running quicktest and randomtest brought up errors with no easily determined fixes. Plus randomtest would test it so thoroughly, it would run dozens of lines every iteration. For now, I’ve disabled it, but I can add it later when the game is further along.
As for Delusions, in each chapter there are Delusion events:
for example, in chapter 1, you think someone is watching your house and cover the windows with blankets.
@Opisthenar there’s an option to make a custom profession. But given your reply, you’ve given me what I need to fix the issue. Thanks!
@Hellfire not sure yet. That would be a huge spoiler though, at this stage.
Playing through as a bankrobber in…the suburbs (I think? It’s wherever Billie is, anyway) and I get the option to ‘have Johnny call Billie to talk to her for a while’. Johnny’s at school. It also starts off like this: Billie sits on the floor next to you and curls up in a ball: knees pressed to his chest, arms wrapped around his shins, head tucked down. I’m fairly sure Billie should be the nephew. There’s also a speechmark missing from: "Thanks, Aunt Mia, he says on the same page.
Also at the very end you’ve missed the ‘D’ in TO BE CONTINUE…
I really like L&J’s characters. I really hope that there is a way to save them both.
The full version of this game is expected to come out fall 2016 right? That seems so far away:(
Great story, look forward to seeing the rest of it when it’s out ![]()
Just one small thing I found in the story I played though
Though an immune reaction fights the virus, it eventually killed the infected host between thirty minutes and four minutes post-infection.
Maybe switch it to "between four to thirty minutes post infection to make it read better (or should that have been thirty to forty minutes post infection?)
Hmm, I seem to be in the minority here but, who else hates Jillian and Lyle, I’m sorry, but I’m not sure why people like them.
@JimD I still don’t know how to make L&J stay…can I get some hints please?
Also, the new inventory seems easier and better for me, and since it’s easier for you to code I’d call it a win-win.The wait for the next update begins in 3…2…1…
When trying to take Lyle and Jillian’s supplies after kicking them out I keep getting a 404 error, its in chapter 2 after when Lyle offers to stick around
@Opisthenar thanks for pointing out those errors. They will be fixed soon.
@5benfive5 both can be saved in the current version. hint: don’t be too aggressive.
@killnsin i am hoping to finish part 1 (chapters 1-4, 500k words) in November, 2015.
@Jacic as it should be 30 minutes to four hours. Great catch.
@Martymcchew People don’t always like them as people but are intrigued by them or enjoy the tension they cause. They aren’t likable.
@Drini7 You won’t need hints once I update the version this weekend. I realized the code for relationships makes it too difficult for MCs to get L&J to stay, so I fixed it. I am glad you like the new inventory system. I love it.
@CrossOver oops, I forgot to upload that scene. Sorry! I am 99% sure it’s fixed.
I like them because they already seem adapted for survival + their relationship reminds me of Dale and Andrea.
Yeah, I guess I don’t like them because they’re kinda jerks, they steal from you, mooch stuff off you etc. and I don’t really see a reason to keep them around
