Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven: Part Three Discussion Thread

In my next version, Lopez will be so forward. As I looked at the code and fixed it, I was reminded that people felt in Part 2 that it was actually too hard to reach the intimate scenes, so I must have made it very easy to reach them. Obviously this worked the opposite way this time. It’s really an issue of balance.

Thanks for confirming!

When I wrote all of those scenes with every other RO, I did not expect Rosie to be among that group so quickly in Part 3. In my new version, she will be included.

I don’t think there is enough time in the moment, but I can certainly give you a medicine check to ascertain their injuries.

Part 3 does not have any part where you can change leaders. I am thinking of adding a new opportunity to vote for leadership.

Ray will not be an actual RO but there is at least one intimate scene with Ray.

I am working on this issue, but I appreciate you giving me more details.

I think I understand now. Thank you.

That’s basically how it is so far. I am thinking of changing with a new vote option in Part 3.

Thanks for pointing this out.

I can’t figure it out either and I wrote it. I will fix this.

Thanks, and I will look into this!

I would definitely consider making one, but most of my readers are used to survival horror. I feel like it would almost be a whole new genre for me, and it would be hard to start over at this stage. Especially when I have so many ideas for more games within my genre. Like, if I can make a game based on the Purge series, I would totally do that.

I am trying to set up poly relationships. It’s really hard to code, and I really like very detailed romantic relationships. I’m working on it slowly.

Thanks, I will fix it.

You still may have the opportunity in the future. The problem with that now is that continuing the relationship makes it seem like Rachel is grooming you. That’s not something I want to do in this game. It’s a tough one, because I know it upsets some people that she entered a relationship with a teenager and then it ends abruptly.

Thank you for summarizing.

Is this in the new version, because I thought it was fixed?

Again, this should be fixed in the newest version.

I should be putting one in tomorrow and then one more next week.

I think this is a great way to handle it. I just have to write their scenes, and they would be very specific. As you noted I above, some people are okay with poly relationships while others are not.

Whats the biggest harem one can get in this game? I wanna try and grab as many npcs as possible as a chad movie star lmao

Thank you @JimD for your reply. I left some messages on the google play review site also that may assist you sir. Thank you!

This isn’t the sort of game where one can build a harem (and by “harem”, I assume you don’t mean “(historical) women’s living quarters”). All of the romanceable NPCs will have thoughts about you trying to get with others while you are in a relationship, and all of them will voice those thoughts. While some of them are definitely more okay with it than others (and some of them will be angry enough over it to leave the group), only about 3 of the ROs will actually be “enthusiastic” instead of “grudgingly tolerant”.

I mean, grudgingly tolerant gets the job done. Historically, there were real concubines who were grudgingly tolerant. I’m just saying.

I was disappointed we didn’t see anymore of that group that is next to the junkyard, across the lake (can’t remember their name). Also was disappointed we didn’t see the guy and his sister from the gas station, despite going to the Silverthorne camp. With only one or two more parts, I’m not sure how much screen time they’ll actually get (if any, maybe they’re dead?). I personally don’t like a lot of the NPCs we’re stuck with – the crazies from the school, Woody the stoner, Jillian the trashy manipulator, Kelly the airhead, etc. I honestly would kill most of them if given the chance, especially Reilly. I want to be rid of him ASAP (I was actually looking for any “accidents” I could cause him to have). Mind you, that isn’t a criticism; I think they’re well written and they all seem like distinct and fleshed out human beings. I just personally don’t like them; a personality clash with me. I liked the people from the train yard and the two from the gas station much more, and would rather be in a group with those people. So I was disappointed that none of those could join us. Only Jude, who’s another crazy – no thanks. Just wanted to share my thoughts on that.

Not wrong, though I feel like those who aren’t into Poly, example Rachel, memory serves that if you are honest with her she is surprised the honesty yet simply makes it clear that she is a one-partner type of gal, but by no means does she shut us down, simply says that we can talk about it later, so there is potential.

Though I will say, it would be intriguing, if not comical depending on romances, that if we have the computer lab and we just so happen to have another lovely session with a certain hacker, the romances pops in.

Rachel? Either 50% annoyed and balks at us, or 50% raises an eyebrow and decides to join in to help with the stress release, teasing and all, and then having a very long talk about us being irresponsible… totally see that.
Jillian/Gina? Totally down, no worries there.
Others? 50/50.

I don’t know what Jim has planned for the future (except probably more zombies :zombie:), but you can actually meet Sharif at the Silverthorne camp. He won’t be there if you warned him about it.

Actually, Woody doesn’t smoke marijuana if you grow it. The main users are Bailey and Driver.

Oh, I didn’t know that! Very cool! I always warned Sharif, so that’s why I never saw him. Thanks for letting me know about that.

Yeah, I never had confirmation that he smoked marijuana. I just meant he had the stoner-type personality. “Let’s just relax, mannnn. Just be chill, man.” It made me write him off immediately. At least he’s good at building, so he has some use.

I wouldn’t say he’s lazy or complacent, he’s actually quite proactive if you ask him about his plan for survival. He also tries things, which I think is cool, like he isn’t necessarily good with electronics, but he tries tinkering anyway. He gives off a hippyish vibe though, so I sort of understand why you’d write him off haha.

I wonder how Jim will set the poly romance but knowing the author he never disappoints. It will also be great to see Jim create a post-apocalyptic survival game I know there’s a lot of cog games with the same genre and they’re all great like Highway wars, After the storm, and Doomsday on demand but with how good ZE is, it really makes you think how will he do that.

@JimD

During the confrontation with Murphy:

He only makes a slight gagging sound until his face turns bluem then purple.

After butchering the Graves, I noticed that we seem have an okay relationship with them:

Graves Family: 50

Coming back from the facility, I met Sean who was actually my neighbour in this playthrough:

*if sean_introduced
  *set target 3
Sean, your former neighbor in Chipper Ridge.

That’s when you do a double take and realize it’s Sean, your former neighbor in Chipper Ridge.

“Well damn, who let this girl in? Get over here and shake my hand,” he says to you with a huge smile. Before you can resist, he grabs your hand and shakes it like a politician in front of a reporter.

But then, a little after getting introduced to Fred and Billie, Sean forgets who I am:

The pale-skinned guy with the cigarette blows smoke out of his mouth and walks up to you. “How’s it going—I’m Sean. We were just talking about where we’re all staying.” He puts out his cigarette on his shoe and flicks it into a pile of trash. “They told me Eli runs this place, but you’re the leader of the group. So how does that work? Because Eli said we’re welcome to stay, so I’m not sure why I’ve got to run it by anyone else.”

Looks like it should be *if not(sean_introduced) to avoid the double introduction if you started in Chipper Ridge:

@{sean_introduced The pale-skinned guy with the cigarette blows smoke out of his mouth and walks up to you. "How's it going—I'm Sean.

Something i wanted to ask Jim directly was the reason we keep seeing people we knew and not more strangers, i understand we see more new faces then old, but to think all three of our possible survivors survived, thelma from the mall/store, the markovs and so many others, in a apocalypse situation i think itd be beyond rare to even see one person you know before the shit went down, let alone all these familar faces popping up, maybe its the mc magic, just thought it was odd

Totally agree with you here, Jillian and Gina having a little family with the mc and nephew would be beyond sweet, i feel like the opportunity is there, its just up to Jim whether he thinks its a good idea for his vision for the games, or if he can tackle the subject matter, ie. Maybe jillian doesnt want a kid, but gina does or the amount of scene writing that would have to be done, with a baby, a nephew, Jillian and Gina all coming together in new interactions. I suppose itll be his choice, doesnt mean we cant influence him a little with our support ahaha

One thing I would really like to see is the main camp tasks in all 3 parts with the (does not count for your 1 of 4 tasks) options

Here are some stuff i’ve found so far. Overall i really love part 3 with all the characters interactions, story and choices tho it hurt like hell with jaime as a leader when he chose to leave missy behind i hope we can still get her and her family somehow :smiling_face_with_tear:

Summary

I think this error still hasn’t been fixed yet since this is supposed to refer to either tommy/lopez or jaime/lopez

I didn’t bring rosie with me to the silverthornes

Fred was my neighbour in this playthrough i also try another one with billie as my neighbour and this still occurred

This happened when i was romancing julianne and had to pick not interested in anyone which i found a bit odd btw i think you should add julianne as an option when choosing love interest even if she’s a long distance one

Also in chapter 8 i noticed that resting for an hour didn’t reduce fatigue at all

I can imagine the MC, pulling a John Crichton moment, with Jillian, Gina, Nephew if there, shouting out to the world ‘We are going to have a Baby!’, arms up in the air and celebrating. All while others in the camp are just looking like what the hell is he shouting about?, and of course Rachel is lip reading and tells Jamie that we are having a kid.

That said, I would be well wholesome and I do think it would fit well in the game to have it as a possibility. To have an up-and-coming family grouping, working together to survive and all. And sure, I think some in the group (Rachel at least from the start would be against it and want to chastise us but grow into supporting Jillian/us) would take the news with surprise and some celebration. Great for morale surely.

Is Zombie Joe worth keeping around? Does he reappear in Part 3 if he is not killed in Part 2?
