Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven: Part Three Discussion Thread

It’s not the shrapnel that kills the fish when you do that, it’s the pressure wave. Shrapnel is rapidly slowed by the water, but since water is incompressible it transfers force really well and kills fish by damaging internal organs.

So no shrapnel when Reilly fishes. (This is how I pictured him fishing, too)

Small bug: I am unable to set up a solar-powered generator in the Junkyard, while I can set up a regular generator. I am not sure why this is. The solar powered generator is also listed under “consumables” in the inventory when it should be under “gear”.

I was able to install multiple solar panels yesterday

EDIT: Ah, gotcha. Sorry, was trying to help troubleshoot

I meant the solar-powered generator, which you can craft in parts 1 and 2 (under “Miscellaneous”) if you have a generator, solar panels, some parts, and 65+ Electronics (and a couple other things I don’t remember off the top of my head). I am having no issue with solar panels.

@kckolbe No problem!

Few minor nitpicks.

1. Even if you take care not to mention Julianne to Jason in your email, when you email him back from Lancelot there’s a whole paragraph where you talk to him about her.

2. It’s never explained why you can’t hack the research building to end the lockdown so you can later return.

3. It’s unclear if turning on Lancelot’s security systems will prevent you from returning if you add yourself as an employee.

4. Speaking of Lancelot’s security system, it mentions that anyone without a hazmat suit will be terminated. But if you aren’t wearing one nothing happens. If you are wearing one and left you stuff upstairs, somehow you magically change back if you leave via Subbasement Alpha.

Yes i had finished the simple/normal workshop

@JimD

All I was trying to do was build a scope for my character’s weapon. I finally got the pair of glasses at the end of part 2 yet here it is now on part 3 I have to make an improved worskhop in order to craft anything. :smiling_face_with_tear:

I really need you to fix that bug sir :sob:

Why would you want to add a solar-power generator when the Junkyard already runs on a solar-powered system?

Question. I’ve heard that if my MC is trying to create a cure for the virus, I can get a living specimen if my science is either 90, or 95. Is this true? If so, how?

I’m not sure to be honest but I would like to know more about the cure route. I feel it’s understated cos people prefer to kill instead of saving others.

I would like to have a second source of solar power–it serves as a backup, and it doesn’t use gasoline (which is for cars at this time). Plus, more solar panels (in the form of the generator), means more power collected on a sunny day, which is great for allegiance and morale.

Do you mean Layla’s living specimen in Part 2? If you want that, you need enough Science and Medicine to be on the Research route, and high Persuasion to get Layla to override Finn’s opposition to taking a sample. If by “living specimen”, you mean a sample from an active zombie, you can get one from zombie Trisha in Part 2. I have yet to play the research route (vaccine route in my case lol) to Part 3 completion, so I don’t know if we can get another living sample/sample from an active zombie yet.

Hey everybody, was just wondering who you’d suggest for what assignments. For example, i know madison is good at hunting and gina is good for building stuff, though i’m unsure about everybody else.

Beat Part 3 (twice). Really enjoyed it, more so than Part 2, but I love all of JimD’s work.

The biggest thing I had a problem with was player agency at the Silverthorne’s camp. More specifically, when I eavesdropped on that tour guide and Silverthorne soldier in the tavern, I knew something was up, that they were maybe laying a trap.

I went back to my group and said as much, and straight up picked “Yeah, it’s a trap, let’s get out of here.” And Rachel overruled me and said something like, “Well, we have to confront them anyways. Let’s walk into the trap.” And my eyes just popped out of my head. I was like, what?! What are you doing?! I thought I’m the leader!

That being said, after meeting with the Silverthorne leadership, I can see why I was forced to go along with it. I get it. So afterwards, it didn’t bother me as much. In fact, after meeting with the Silverthorne leadership, I was tempted to start trading and allying with them, even though I was vehemently opposed to the Silverthorne group previously.

Then the zombies attack. I don’t want to help, but I don’t want to hinder, so I pick to observe the Silverthornes fight off the zombies. My character does that for awhile, and then the game says, “Okay! Now what?” Wait, what? I want to observe. I want to observe the battle. Maybe I just have to pick more options until the battle is over. So then I choose to fight off the zombies. Then I’m forced to escape the camp, which shocked me.

My desire was to hunker down in the Silverthorne camp until the battle was over. I know that the Silverthornes won’t get wiped out from the zombie attack; I know this. So I wanted to wait and speak with the leadership when they finish fighting. But I’m forced to escape from the camp, which I didn’t really like.

But all in all, loved Episode 3. Did run into a few bugs. Namely, when I was at the museum, I chose not to release the prisoners, and I didn’t side with anyone in the museum. As I was exiting the museum, Jude was standing outside, somehow having teleported from the generator room. I offered him to join my group, and it seemed like after that, sometimes he appeared in my group and sometimes not.

It kills me to know that Episode 4 probably won’t be out until 2025, at the earliest. But hey, quality takes time, I know.

Anyway, thanks for your work, JimD.

Edit: Oh, and as an aside, I think it’s cool that Jillian can get pregnant. I can’t stand Jillian, but I think having a child with another survivor really adds more emotional depth to the story, so that’s great. I think it’d be awesome if Rachel (my character’s love interest) could get pregnant, but I’m not sure she would allow that, with her type of personality.

I usually just take Rachel’s suggestions, then I take a few away from tasks with too many assignments. For example, if there are too many scavengers, I’ll take a few away and use them for something else like reinforcing the camp, or working on additional improvements.

Did anyone managed to romance Julianne the hacker, if you did can you tell me how?

I still want to follow the route of the cure but as the doctor of the group. And I hope that my skills in electronics will help me in the investigation of the virus.

How I did it;

When you first meet her in Ch 1, flirted with her
In Ch 2, contacted her after charging laptop (I also did her favour of contacting Jason. I do not know if that is a prerequisite)
In Ch 3, when you go to the facility with Madison and Reilly, power up the computer with 60+ electronics and contact her again. Got the option to flirt with her again and got her romance

I mean the living zombie from chapter 6, the one where my MC can teach my nephew how to kill a zombie. I heard you can get a living_specimen from that specific zombie with a VERY high science (like 90 or 95).

That’s literally what I do, too! :laughing:

I agree that the pregnancy storyline is interesting, but I’m still trying to figure out how she would of found out that fast. Aren’t we talking about a period (no pun intended) of a couple weeks??
