Thank you for your hard work kind sir! May I ask when will the official update be released for steam version? I can’t wait to play the part 4 of this game! It’s so much fun and has a wide variety of paths one can take to live what kind of path they desire. I normally don’t enjoy a lengthy text-based game but this game got me hooked up and now I’m playing a lot of text-based game. But of course, this game has a special place in my heart. I hope you well and I hope the update will come sooner or later. Thank you for your hard work and thank you for another masterpiece of a work!

Intriguing! I had played through the university mission and got to where it started looping back to the start of the chapter after leaving, but the only moments I’d had up to that point were MC having a momentary hallucination while battling the Paynes and a mention of feeling kinda weird waking up at the junkyard next day. That’s what I meant by it seeming to stop. Did I miss something?

oh, unrelated, but there’s no option to honestly tell the River Dogs you never met their three missing guys. (the first character I ran through didn’t meet them). Also, and I’ll see if I can get the specific screen at some point, but if you don’t have Tommy in the group, he randomly appears for a single page when the Makarovs are dealt with and then vanishes again.

I’d like to see the effects of the survivor’s choices at ST. Did they just pick off a few militia members, or did they go for maximum casualties? If the group decided to make a deal with ST, an option to trade with ST might be nice. Did the group fire into the crowd, as Rachel suggests during the escape? If they chose not to allow Monica, Anders, and Missy to join, I’d like to see the consequences of that decision. I’m totally aware that there’s a lot of variables, and it would probably be a pain to code, so if it’s not to be, I can totally understand. As always, I’m just a big fan of your work, and am very grateful that you engage with us so directly. Cheers.

Also, welcome Clive. I can answer your question in broad strokes. I’d guess part 4 writing will be done sometime this summer, then COG has a review process, then Steam has a review process. My money is on about 6 months- 1 year. Hope this helps.

I love the beta. I can’t wait to find out how the exodus will play out. Here’s some feedback:

Unless Jaime is threatening me now, it should be ‘he’.

I think at that point we don’t know yet that the bandits took Kevin to a storage facility.

How do we know about Eli’s cache? Was it mentioned in part 3? I chose dialogue options that indicate that MC finds it odd that they kidnapped Kevin and that there must be more to the story. It’s strange that we now suddenly seem to know why they took Kevin.

After the bandits were kicked out, MC can only scavenge 8 items. Isn’t that the regular amount? Also, you can take several magazines of ammo (5 slots) when you have only 2 slots left.

There’s a transition missing in Reilly’s romance scene. The build up to the intimate scene that shows his gentler side was sweet. The scene itself confused me somewhat. Are they fully dressed through all of it?

On another note, I assume a female MC (thankfully) cannot get pregnant because it’d be too much work to write that route. But it’d be nice if in heterosexual relationships some conversation would take place about contraception or the lack thereof. Any woman would worry about an unplanned pregnancy.

OK, this may be just me, but when I think of street clothes, I imagine jeans and a hoodie or T-shirt.

At the breakfast scene, it would be nice to know in advance how many characters we can speak with.

Will it be possible to break up with your romantic partner at some point to choose another or no romance?

I hope any of this was helpful. Part 4 is already so much fun to play! I love this series.

oh…

I am excited to see the Vanguards in person soon, and just a little bit amazed at how Col. John Faulkner ascended from one of many possible superiors in Part 1 (the boss at the hospital (for MCs that work in medicine) is a Faulkner, as is the mark for the con artist) to an important faction leader.

The two Army factions are the Vanguards and the New Army. More information below:

The New Army is the faction headed by Colonel (now General) Otto Goodman. It consists of at least one thousand soldiers as of Part 3. Goodman lied to you about Faulkner’s death in Part 1 (as you will see below, rumors of Faulkner’s death are greatly exaggerated), is very pushy in getting you to investigate the safe havens (even though you were ordered not to share information about them with anyone outside the chain of command, which does not include him), and turns on you in Part 3 if you don’t surrender Lancelot to him (whether you are military or not). The New Army soldiers very likely killed Fern and her pet wolf if you don’t meet her en route to Lancelot.

However, other New Army soldiers have befriended the Ute in Part 4, in Part 2 (well, before you meet Jude. He tells you the story if you go to the grocery store in part 2) Goodman orders Jude and his spotter Carrie to find insulin for a diabetic civilian in his base, and Goodman is also a strict adherent to the rules (that is the reason White and co. go to such extreme lengths to frame Lopez in Part 1 rather than just kill him; he would have punished them). Goodman also does have six hundred civilians in his care and gives supplies to other needy civilians even though he cannot house them (in part 2). So they’re more complicated than they seem. Or at least the individuals are.

After Faulkner survived Goodman’s attempted murder in a power grab (Goodman killed one of the junior officers that was Faulkner’s ally, and then cemented the New Army out of similarly disaffected, power-hungry people), he and his surviving loyalists (an unknown number) fled to a currently-unknown base. He no longer uses the title Colonel, as he sees it as a title that became irrelevant once the institution it was tied to fell apart–in his mind, his actions matter more than his title. The Vanguards are determined to band together and hold to the ideals of what was once the United States of America, and will ally with anyone that is trying to rebuild society and work together, while acknowledging the reality of the zombie apocalypse. According to Faulkner, any good that the New Army does is purely incidental, and they are no better than the Silverthornes. Whether this is completely true for the entire New Army remains unknown.

While the Vanguards lack the strength to face the New Army in direct combat at this time, they are a persistent thorn in its side. They even can send you a helicopter (granted, it is the only one they have) to help fight the New Army in defense of Lancelot. We have yet to meet the Vanguards and see their base. While they seem like nicer people than the New Army based on the conversation with Faulkner, there’s a lot we don’t know about them.

If anyone has more information about the Vanguards/New Army from Part 4 or otherwise, please tell me.

The New Army is the remains of the government, led by General Goodman, they’re more concerned with controlling resources. Deter from LEGIT was abducted by or joined the New Army at some point in part 3. The Vanguard is led by Colonel Faulkner; they are the remains of the army who kept to their oaths and are concerned with helping survivors.

Thank you for the errors and suggestions.

The public beta for Part 4 has been updated.

  • Updated inventory list to include all items.
  • Chapter 17 has been updated. You can continue your search through the movie theater.
  • In chapter 17, you can now investigate a hardware store.
  • In Chapter Tasks, you can now train your skills with manuals you can find in the world (Cooking, Intimidation, Leadership, Persuasion, and Survival).
  • Rachel’s summary for the group and junkyard have been updated for Part 4. It is a huge section, so please try it between chapters 14, 15, and 16.

I was in the hospital this month for a week and my recovery has been slow. I am hoping to have Part 4 submitted at the end of July, but I’m not sure I’m going to make it.

Please keep the suggestions and feedback coming and thank you all!

Take care of yourself first boss. Speaking for myself, I’ll wait as long as necessary. Please, do not strain yourself trying to keep to an arbitrary release window. I hope your recovery is as smooth as it can be. Your fans love you.
