Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven, Part 4 Public Beta - updated 4/1/2025, 760,000+ words

There’s also a scene where Ray took my male MC to the attic and they jerked off “together.”

High Fatigue + stress and low mental health should trigger the Ray scenes.

I don’t think so, delusions is one of few challenges that have content regardless of stats (although stat allow reduced mechanical impact sometimes)

Often the delusions specific text is just a single sentence, variation of a non-delusion sentence, etc so if you skim text on repeat playthroughs quite likely to miss.

There’s more Ray interactions, tons, but either 1 on 1 (like a sentence in Lancelot mission where they distract you from killing zombies) or you don’t react, so I dont’t blame the rest of the group for not reacting to this.

If you have the code can just go through all *if delusions checks too

The public beta has been updated. Here’s the link: Part 4 Beta

This version has a sneak peek of chapter 15 and the first major time jump. It’s only a short set up, but I will continue with it next month.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I hope there’s a couple of ways to deal with the Kevin thing. Ranging from I’ll kill him to gently talking to him about it. My current teenage character would most likely knock him out or kill him. Depending.

With you there boss. If Kevin slept with Maddie, he’s dead, and my MC and Maddie are through. If it’s just an infatuation Kevin has, I’d like to at least give him a warning, and if it continues, then I’d have to do some dental work for Kev, with my fists.

Pretty funny given that the successful empathy checks all indicate Madison isn’t cheating and it’s all loyal and just friendly… only shorter fused and lower empathy MCs really get jealous here

Like, for sure Kevin is clingy, he’s some teen(? or young person) who’s gone through bad stuff, looked after Eli (who is now dead) and adjusting to outbreak after a group of strangers just sorta set up shop there… I don’t resent them at all for being clingy, although (Esp with this timeskip!) would be nice to have a chill talk about it.

Feedback wise, @JimD All current ways of mentioning it are really just jealousy so far-- even if we also separately get along great with Kevin-- ideally as above some convo would be good (and both are mandatory chars too)

Also, imo Madison doesn’t react harshly enough to finding out you’re dating Brody-- as a twin myself I can’t see any persuasion check not breaking us up under those circumstances-- maybe just a check to not reduce the %relationship, but should be a guaranteed ex moment. Characters reacting harshly is fine and in this case would be out of character not to-- even aside from the sheer ickiness, Madison’s pretty loyal.

Also post-timeskip I hope to see how well Jude, Rosie, Jillian, etc. integrate into the camp. Would be interesting to finally see a proper Rosie Jillian interaction, with Rosie building off own efforts (potentially supported by MC) to integrate with team and make amends-- obv doing so <2 weeks after trying to kill is absurd, but 4-5 months is completely reasonable-- and doesn’t mean Jillian (and others) will wholly accept her. Although ig a detailed convo for 2 wholly optional, and I don’t think the most popular, characters is potentially on the backburner.

Likewise I love all the scenes of our nephew interacting with everyone at camp. Would be interesting to see more, and maybe with short variation based on morale, nephew morality, etc over and post skip

Not much to say about skip itself except what I’ve said on discord, but I like that there is one, and 4 months seems like a good enough time (personally I’d think shorter as to not make it seem like we’re coasting fine, but if we are and P4 and 5 focus more on interactions and issues with other factions than some big “Zombie Exodus”/zombie threat (which is what I’m hoping for) then it’s perfect)

I really think y’all are overthinking this, at worst, Kevin seems interested in her but no more than that and it’s not like they shouldn’t be allowed to talk to each other

Meh, I don’t think much of it. Boy with a crush; nothing wrong with that.

I mean, I find him annoying and would love to clock him, but Maddie has nothing to do with it. In that regard, he’s fine.

I don’t know if this is intentional, well, I think it isn’t since the game excludes Rachel as a Primary RO when she dumps you as a teen in Part 3 (or not, been a while since I played), nevertheless, when creating a teen from scratch for this demo Rachel and PC shouldn’t be in a relationship.

 *if (main_ro = "Rachel") or (second_ro = "Rachel")
#"I have missed spending time with you. I can't wait until you're completely better."
Rachel smiles at you. "I feel the same way. I really hate being stuck in this bed, when I can be lying in your bed."

"I like the sound of that."

[taken from chapter14 file]

This is selectable as a teen, and maybe it shouldn’t be? At least for the demo? Or perhaps it matters not since it (might) be impossible to keep Rachel as a RO when importing a character? Either way, it’s off putting. Happy New Year!

Not a Part 4 bug specifically, but I think there is also some general potential jank with Rachel and teens, since if Rachel is only a secondary RO you don’t get her admitting to manipulating you scene.

Imo I think there should just be a hard cut off with teens and adult chars, even after a 4 month timeskip, but I’m pretty sure I’m outvoted. Rachel being the only exception because it’s only manipulation and ends quickly. Of people want to romance adults, can play an adult char.

Would also reduce the additional complexity I see with checks to see if MC is a teen in romances too. And coding only a teen to date Madison or Brody likewise will save a bunch of time there… not havig additional checks every mention of school, pre-pandemic life, etc.

With all the comments above, in terms of the timeskip specifically I’m optimistic there’ll be an option to talk to Kevin and such and deal with his clinginess normally, assuming over 4 months they haven’t adapted and chilled already.

For sure, I thought since teens would be able to romance adults now the time skip was going to be… larger. Or maybe I don’t know the timeline well? teen!PC is supposed to be 15-16 no? By the end of Part 3 not a lot of time has gone by. :woman_shrugging:

There will be a number of ways to deal with Kevin.

It’s 3 months after the end of Part 3, since it is already one month into the outbreak at that point. Thanks for the other feedback. I can definitely make some changes.

Happy New Year to you as well. That is definitely a bug, and I will fix it.

This is just a short part of chapter 15. A lot of the changes to the group and characters is coming. For example, big spoiler, you are actually in New Breck, picking out a birthday gift for Madison and Brody. They are turning 18. This doesn’t 100% mean you can romance them as an adult, but I’m going to be putting in a new option to select your age going forward. It will open up dating but keep things reasonable and appropriate.

Ah fair enough, I was just calc’ing the time diff between ch15 and 14, 3.7 months. really nbd either way-- I don’t see a material diff between 3-4 months here… seems like a good length

(Also, already know I want a birthday gift from Madison and Brody when my teenage PC’s turn 18 :triumph:)

Also also, just remembered another things that would reasonably be addressed over 3 months-- Bailey’s drug problems, Rosie’s delusions/denial, PC’s with delusions, Benton (kill, free, trade, give, zombify (for research or torture…)), Missy would probs chill a bit. ideally we’d be attacked by / have opportunity to attack Silvers again or Forest Rats.

Cool, this happens almost in all Rachel scenes (her acting as if teen PC, when she’s selected as primary RO, are in a relationship). Thanks for answering

[jokingly]: Me, who genuinely adores Kevin and wants nothing but good things for him:

Last I read, if teen!PC talks to Mel before lunch at the museum, she asks their age and they say 17, which tracks if Maddie and Brody are turning 18 soon, since they’re supposed to be in the same grade.

So, a question that I’m surprised i never thought of until now, but with a time skip happening it dawned on me.

Has it ever actually been confirmed if the zombies rot, or not? I thought i saw it mentioned that they did ((Granted Zeta so far has interacted with other species and seems to be changing itself and improving with mutations. Like with tougher skin.))

Cause if they do, after the time skip, any “normal” infected would cease being a threat by then. Teeth and nails would have fallen out, and they’d be well into the phase where the body starts to actually liquify.

So, stuff still moving after all this time would be stronger than what were intially used to. JUST THE IDEA GETS ME EXCITED.

Variants or Mutations catching the group off guard, OH THE DRAMA

Idk about in-game lore-- there’s the Wendigo who seems fine, info that Zombies do get tired, not sure if confirmation over natural death/decay–

If anything I think it’d be more interesting to encounter mutated zombies… although might be too much/complex, would bring back the horror and fear from the early chapters even with a well equipped gang. That said, if parts 4&5 will be focused on factions and survivors, eh.

I do love the Wendigo interaction so far, which is kinda a zombie variant.
