Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven, Part 3 - releasing 3/3/2022

Nah, its definitely an error, yeah. I’m just having a laugh with it.

To me Madison acts immature and then thinks she has the right to whine like a little girl when MC let’s Gina come on that side mission… no one in their right mind is going to follow a teenager, crack shot or not. (Obviously teenager MC can become leader but IRL most people with a brain in their head will not). I don’t trust her not to stick a knife in someones back, if they disagree with her about something. I like Brody though.

If it’s any consolation, Reilly makes it VERY clear that he’s not happy with a teenaged MC leading them. Also, if said teenager has the oratory and combat skills of Batman, I can why they would follow them out of desperation, at the very least XD.

So I have a question. What if we choose to train a survivor in a certain skill? I know that we will improve ourselves through the process, but will it reflect later on in the game? For example, what would happen if we were to train Madison or some of our more bloodthirsty survivors in empathy? Will it just be for show and self improvement, or will they eventually start showing some improvement as well?

As far as I know, yes, it does make a difference in-game. I read on one of the ZESH forums a really long time ago (it could be this one, but it would be buried) that if you teach your nephew survival then he will run off and hide in the woods before Natalie is able to point a gun at him. I’ve never actually tested it, so who knows if its true. An obvious one that we all know is that Madison can’t drive, so we can assume that teaching her to drive will definitely make an impact later on. Another one concerning the nephew is if we teach him medicine; the text says something like “It is very easy to teach him this skill, as he is a fast learner and naturally wants to help people. This will also give him a role among your group” so we can assume that we will see him healing a group member to the best of his ability in the future. Or I could be completely wrong and the option is just to raise your own abilities. Who knows?

There are many checks that reference the training. @ShawnCarter mentioned some. I have a subroutine that I use to check if someone has any additional training from their basic character sheet. For example, at the train yard, if you trained Brody in Stealth, he will not get detected when trying to approach.

Wanted to post a few things here as I feel they require urgent attention.
They are in regards to the save files. They are very unreliable and have consistently set me back from beta testing multiple times. Having to start completely over is never fun.
I don’t know what causes it, but it i believe its an issue with the COG servers.

This one happens after loading a save file. It gets stuck on the stats screen. The only thing you can do is restart and delete the file.

This one happens periodically when attempting to load a game. Usually the error message appears the first time you load and then the game loads properly on the second attempt. I don’t know if this might lead to something worse later on, but thought I would bring it to people’s attention.

speaking of improving the skills of the members of our group, can we teach any skill to any person or only certain things to certain characters? , because although I understand that some things like teaching leadership to Jaime or Ranged Weapons to Brody, I don’t see much sense in being able to teach Driver the Driving skill or RW to Lopez, although never I have chosen to teach a specific survivor certain skills, so what I want to get to is whether we can teach anything to anyone or just certain skills depending of the character?.

You can only teach certain things to certain people. When a person is on the same level as you, or higher than you, you won’t be able to teach them in the first place.

Wonderful! Another save file bug…
Oddly enough, this happened for the first time shortly after I posted about save issues. Are they on to me?! The government is trying to silence me! They are probably on their way now! If you don’t hear from me again, tell my wife I lo

What would you guys think of a unique scene for people with the dancing, singing or musical instrument hobbies during the prom event?
And if you have singing AND musical instrument hobbies, you get an extra special scene where you do both?
Imagine playing guitar and singing a song, on stage, to a group of cheering survivors. Instant rock star! Lol I thought that would be pretty cool. Surely I am not the first to suggest this?

Stats wise it could increase relations with survivors.

I’ve had this question on my mind for a while now
In part 2 Parker can get shot in the leg on a trip to a grocery store, and this is something mentioned in part 3. So I’m wondering, is there any actual way to prevent Parker from getting shot? Because I’ve had trips where he’s been shot and I’ve had trips where he wasn’t shot. I even trained Parker in stealth and survival in hopes it might help, it didn’t. So is there any actual way to prevent it or is it just pure random?

Give him insulin before the option to go to the pharmacy pops up. He won’t need to go with you to get insulin and won’t get shot

if you left jillian at camp and bring parker, the chance of parker getting shot is low.

You need high Search, and to be stealthy whenever possible. (And don’t order him to stand in the open to be shot…) But, yeah, the easiest way to avoid it is just to make sure he doesn’t come (either by giving him the insulin, or just by ordering/persuading him to stay behind).

@JimD: While I was looking at this, I noticed that the parker_wounded switch can be set true before FirstShots, but if it is, there’s no text to acknowledge that he’s been shot as there is if he’s shot after FirstShots.

I give up. What do I need to do to get one of the rooms in the house?
Ive tried a few things, but its always locked.

try being the leader of the group

Leader unlocks the garage apartment. But the house 1 and 2 stay locked. Closest thing I found, in relation to this, is Kevin telling Madison she can move into the house if Nora takes the RV/camper from her.

Since we cannot use actual save files outside of the published game, we have to resort to using other systems. However any time I update the game, there is a very good chance it will negate save game files. Basically if I add a variable to the startup file, the save file that was created before that update will not include that variable. When the game runs, it could cause an error. It’s really unfortunate, but I don’t know of better ways to create a save file outside of the published game.

I have thought about this and it’s on my list of items to do. The difficulty is programming all combinations. What if the MC has dancing and musical instrument but not singing? That would be its own few paragraphs. Just dancing and singing? It’s own paragraphs. It’s just a lot and I would love to do it, but you can see how it spirals.

Thanks. I will fix that.

Sorry, I thought I explained somewhere in the text that they will not be available while Kevin and Eli are using them. But I thought I made the change to allow you to switch rooms. I will add it to my to do list.

Omg i just stumbled on this for the first time;

I can’t believe this was always here. I always create my characters using the ‘full system’ lol. This will make beta testing soooooo much simpler. Ty Jim!
