Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven General Discussion (Part 3 beta coming in December)

Whilst travelling light is fine, what do you mean by “no armour”?

Whilst literal plate mail is armour, so is a leather jacket, or biker gear.

A gambeson is really a thick padded jacket.

And the spiked armour is more for if I’m tripped and swarmed by zombies, since it is night impossible to stand back up in plate with a person actively trying to keep you on the ground. After many minutes they would kill themselves or disable themselves to the point where I can get up (torn connective tissue, busted up muscle / tendons, etc.)

I personally would take a sledgehammer or a spear over a katana

I could make a repeating crossbow wood and arrows and a piece of string, but really any ranged weapon will be much safer (even throwing rocks) as (at least in this game) transmission requires physical contact (a scratch or cut)

Yes infection in this game requires you to have an open wound. But earlier you only said a zombie apocalypse not just this one. Meaning you could possibly become infected due to blood entering your mouth, eyes or nose. So while the spiked armor might have some benefits you still open yourself up to the possibility of infection due to the design of your armor.

There are certainly people and groups like that around. Every university seems to have their own SCA…and Larkspur has a 2 month long Ren Fair…that is how I thought a zombie wearing armor would be fun. If nothing else, tougher to cut down.

With no armor, I mean Just normal clothes, that might include leather Jacket, but things that I would normally wear. A sledgehammer would be to heavy for me, so I have to look for a lighter weapon. Since I do not have a Katana, I would just use a hammer or a Baseball bat.
I can’t make a crossbow, but since I am not trained to shoot, neither bows or guns, so that would be the best Option. I guess I would not try to fight Zombies unless I am in a safe Position. Like stabbing them from above or something like that.

As a Texan who has been told he has no real accent by friends from New York, I second that assertion about accents.

In my opinion, prioritizing stealth with some protection from the most common/dangerous threats would make the most sense in a Zombie Apocalypse. My best Safe Haven MCs use either a ghillie suit and a Kevlar vest in a forest environment or covert/color-neutral clothes with a kevlar vest and a helmet in more urban settings, at the moment. All equipped firearms are suppressed as well.

As for real life, I’d opt for similar camouflage and body protection, with perhaps the addition of a boron carbide/ceramic plates to reinforce the kevlar vest, plus some bracers, shin guards and shoulder guards to lessen the chance of zombie bites or scratches if I’m expecting deep trouble. All with good military-style camo clothes and boots. Of course, these are simply my guess at ideal hypotheticals.

No armor is perfect; past a certain threshold, you’re not so much overwhelming the armor as the human wearing it. Plus, as Sun Tzu says: “the only perfectly defensible position is one that cannot be attacked.” Hence my value in stealth, since its harder to attack what you can’t see or hear.

Lol yeah. I usually think Woody is a redneck so he must’ve been raised on some kinda farm or other rural area around perhaps say Texas or maybe other southern states. The only 2 maybe 3 characters that I know for certain that are black in my playthrough is Dante, Me, and Possibly church

Legitimate ideas for creating a character. I made my teen mc with skills that are useful in plenty of situations. Recently I’ve experimented with this game again and I’ve made a character even better then my previous ones. The only skills he’s lacking in that matters to me, is : science, intimidation, electronics and survival. Albeit I’m not completely worried about survival since we got Brody and Madison plus come part 3 we might all crash at this Eli guy’s place. Electronics however is a must, I wanna use that drone come part 3

One piece of advice I can offer for character building is to consider a high intelligence stat: Skill levels in Safe Haven are determined by the average of skill’s “parent attributes” divided by two, plus the skill training level times 10. The higher the parent attribute, the higher the skill is, even without investing skill points.

Example: Crafting Skill Level= (Average of Intelligence and Strength Attributes divided by 2) + (Skill Level *10)

Character Intelligence: 80
Character Strength: 80
Crafting level: 3

({80+80}/2/2)+(3*10)
40+30
Crafting skill: 70

Intelligence is a parent attribute to 8 of Safe Haven’s 13 skills, more than any other attribute, provides the additional bonus of providing more skill points to your character per chapter start, and is unique as being the only parent attribute to two of the games’ skills: Science and Medicine. A character with the legal maximum of 80 intelligence has a 40 in science and medicine without having to invest a single skill point. That’s all I have for now.

Just so you know, having a group member who specializes in a specific skill that you’re bad at or don’t have doesn’t mean you can use their skill level to compensate for your own crappy skill level. You’ll still fail the skill check for whatever option you choose that requires a certain skill level. The group members don’t act like a safety net in that regard they simply act as specialists or mentors who can help you improve. But the responsibility is still primarily on you to learn.

I already know that. I’m just being a bit hopeful(Read Naive) that should I ever come face to face with wilderness survival. Maddie or Brody will save me :upside_down_face:. I’m not really worried anyway cuz I can just get the skills up come part 3

How do I keep Benjimin and Nathan alive?

Is it possible for Ed, herriet, and their kids to join the group?

iirc, you can’t keep them alive.

What about the group you meet at the pharmacy, is it possible to have them join the group?

If you go to the very first post, there’s a list of people who are scripted to die( Benji, Nathan and Sifer) which means they cannot be saved by the player at all. As for your second question the family can’t be recruited into the group. Maybe that’ll change in the future parts of the game but as of now, you can’t recruit them. Also, just a thing to keep in mind is that when we met the family we didn’t even have an actual base, and we barely had enough supplies to take care of the people already in our group let alone room.

Quick update – I’m about 200,000 words into Part 3 and hoping to release it by the end of the year. I expect the word count to hit 300,000 words easily.

  • I’m planning to keep going on to a Part 4 based on funding through Patreon.
  • I will likely do an open beta at some point this summer.
  • Zombie Exodus: Dead Zone is also in development with a target to publish next summer.
  • I am working on a super secret game for Choice of Games. It’s so super secret, I had to sign a blood pact not to discuss it anywhere until the Powers to Be :tm: speak about it first.

I dunno if this has been asked before… But as a college student and an adult, I can’t romance the twins. So, considering that they will age up in the next part of the game, can CS/adult romance them then?

Actually it has been asked several times before, and I believe the answer was yes, you’ll get your chance to romance the twins post time-skip.
