Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven General Discussion (Part 3 beta coming in December)

I’ve tried both male and female to test character reactions with Rachel and it’s pretty much the same for both. I think she’s set as player-sexual. The car scene is the same for both genders, both were high empathy and both noticed she was faking being into it.

I considering the tent negation to even touching Mara a confirmation she is not into us at all. Because at least to Mara when she tries advance Rachel put the excuses she has to go guarding but empathy shows is fake. She is not into us. So I broke right there. Maybe Rache is set to not be attracted to pc

Or maybe she’s trying to escape her feelings or trying not to get attached because she’s supposed to be some sort of special agent. She feels bad thinking the only way to keep the MC happy is to be in a relationship with them, I think maybe it’s less to do with she’s not attracted to the MC and more to do with the fact that she feels forced into it? Like she’d rather take time and figure out whether it might work rather than feeling like if she didn’t hook up with the MC they’d run.

Don’t forget about Sipher’s (to my mind) easy to get stored equipment. I assume the LAR is pretty good at least.

Though, all this talk about Jillian has got me thinking, how exactly do you get her? I remember getting her once a while back, but I never got her again. Likely won’t now that I’m done showing kindness to a bunch of thieves, though.

You let her into your house when you see both her and Lyle outside.

You call out her bullshit when you spot her rummaging through your stuff, be it through persuasion or intimidation.

You then call out Lyle’s bullshit with pretending to be blind, he’ll come clean and promise to be good boi from now on, accept their offer.

The next day, they go to their car to get supplies. You don’t need to follow them as Jillian will already return by herself, so she’s already in your group. But you can choose to do so and save her from the big bad group of banditos that have surrounded them. Not necessary, but the huge relationship boost makes it worth it to me.

Ye, still having trouble finding an RP reason of why I’m keeping them around. I guess it’s cuz Jillian is the only RO I’d go for (Maddie’s for teens only, Bailey’s doesn’t start until well into Part 2, Rachel’s too secretive for my taste and Gina just wants to bone. Never tried Kelly, tho).

I wanted to include that at first but then I remembered that to get that MC would have to pass up on visiting the lake with Bailey, Tommy and the twins.
Tho correct me if I’m wrong here but isn’t Rachels weaponry available for the MC if they have high enough ranged weapons skill and is liked well enough by Rachel even if you don’t go back to the cars with her and Jaime and Woody? It’ll just be offered when you choose new weapons.

Medicine usually. I just tried training her in athletics but I forgot it’s a group-wide thing :man_shrugging: It doesn’t mention her specifically but if she takes part in something else lemme know.

Go through the code or play through Part 2 until you have the option to receive training from an active group member.

I don’t remember the lake visit and Gina’s trunk being mutually exclusive? Are you thinking about Rachel’s private stock or…?

@Johann was right… i remember i visit sipher’s belongings and still got the lake option

Totally confirmed. I have to replay like a lot you can go check Sifer any moment of that thay until midnight. As has zero to do with a concrete moment you go check a car and open a trunk

They’re not mutually exclusive. You can take it after going with the twins to the lake at least, anytime in the free time after. Though, talk on weapons also has me thinking on what the best ranged weapon is and the effect it has, as well as how we can know–or is it just in weapons reference?

You can know in your weapons stats. Still I hope next part in a mission or upgrading our base we could specialise in a type of weapon. Mara for instance yes can use a big stuff but she prefer small guns and in special her custom Colth python.

New spec choices
Defensive: Wooden palisades
Offensive: flamethrower

Rachel is really bad in empathy and persuasion for a spy. She is more the analysis infiltration type. Because Instead trying to fake kissing Mara She should teaching her the kitty. If Mara knows there is a kitten Mara will see Rachel better from a cat lover to another. Seriously… I swear that Mara will checking the well-being of that cat when she discover it. And hell if the kitty has something wrong or she treated bad Rachel is DEAD… …

Kittens are always welcome.

Personally, I never saw her as someone who’d be good at tending to the wounded because based off of her personality and how she acts with Reilly she just doesn’t seem like she’d have the patience or bedside manner for it and the fact that she refuses to be trained in medicine makes sense to me, because it didn’t seem like it was a good fit for her in the first place. Bailey is the one who’s actually incredibly enthusiastic when it comes to being trained in medicine and I think she’d have a good bedside manner as well.

Question for everyone, who trains the individual group members & what skill do you teach them and why do you think they’d be good at that particular skill you’re teaching them ? Do you receive training from other people to expand your own bag of tricks ? If so what skill do you ask to be trained in and from who ?

Didn’t even realize I’ve made a pun until I’ve reread my post, but after that I was like “oh, well it might as well stay as it is…”

I training Tommy in intimidation because he will be my second and the second of a raider has to be intimidating I also taught him persuasion. i also training in weapons the group.

I don’t receive any follower training to not undetermined my leadership. As raider I cant show weaknesses at least not in first week. I will wait until i trust them.

Considering I take the two missions (pharmacy and gas stations) and take the option of socializing will the survivors for morale (roleplay reasons), I’m only left with enough time to train one person. So I train the nephew in Survival.

The people in my group have already lived long enough to have many experiences that shaped their skills and who they are. This does not make them perfect, but it at least gives them agency to do whatever it is they want to do, because they at least have some idea of what they’re doing, no matter how small it is.

The nephew does not have that luxury. He is an eight year old boy who was thrust into this horrific world with almost all his loved ones gone. The following events of the game will drastically shape who he is and what skills he has for the rest of his life and, if let unsupervised, it could do so for the worse. I’m sure there are some people in the group who’d be willing to help him in such matters (Gina and Nora seem like the prime candidates since they actually show interest in the guy. Same with Jaime), but the one person he will truly look to in this situation is you. So, I teach him some Survival. I still don’t know what direction of skills I want to push him towards, but some basic survival skills could never hurt.

As for receiving training, I don’t do that. Not only because of time constraints but also because of what @poison_mara said: I don’t want them to see me as weak. I never ask for training, I never ask for help, when someone asks me how I am I present a cheerful and optimistic answer. But unlike her, I have a more idealistic answer.

They chose me to be the leader. As the world was slowly going to shit, they chose me to lead them through this catastrophe. When it turned into an inhospitable landscape filled with the undead and the worst dregs of humanity, they chose me to make the best of a bad situation and try to keep them alive. They looked to me for guidance. They counted on me to try and make things right. If I ever falter, if I ever let a single bit of uncertainty slip through me, they’ll notice. And it’ll all slowly turn into doubt, paranoia, hopelessness, you name it. When shit hits the fan, the one thing they can count on is a calm, confident personality who has a plan and knows what he’s doing, and by God am I gonna give it to them. Sure, keeping all these fears to myself will be taxing on my mental health. Yes, I have to take the brunt force of all the shit that’s going on so I know how to guide them forward. But that’s the kind of self-sacrifice that I just gotta accept to make.

Because when I vowed to put the safety of the group first, I meant it.

It varies by what character I’m using but I usually train Driver in Medicine or the Nephew in one or two skills (pretty sure it’s stealth most of the time). Driver is actually a big softie (don’t be fooled by that intimidation stat!) and wants to help people so I figured he’s the perfect fit. I think I used to train Parker in Medicine but that was probably before the update. The nephew suits stealth (imo) because the idea of an 8 year old wielding a gun and killing people doesn’t appeal to me and stealth would help him avoid scraps altogether.

My (relatively) new cop MC trains the whole group in ranged weapons and/or hand-to-hand but only at the request of Jaime and Rachel.

I haven’t received training in a while because, like @AAO said, I can’t take advantage of every option if I’m going on the optional missions but I used to receive training in crafting from Woody for the dull reason of him being my MC’s partner and wanting to be closer to him.

Edit: Actually, I feel a great need to have Driver train one of my MCs (or a new one) in intimidation now, just to see how the scene plays out
