I enjoyed the beta test when I played it. The fight between Carl and Jason was well-written and I was happy to see more interaction between the PC and the other survivors.
My favorite part about the beta was the mission where the PC goes to explore the semi-abandoned summer camp. I was intrigued by the makeshift prison in the art room and whether or not I could free the prisoners. I couldn’t get in on my first attempt, so I went back and tried again. That time I was able to get into the prison, but I got caught by the guards. I was going to make a third attempt, but by then the beta had been taken down. XD
I’m looking forward to the game’s release in October!
@817819 So then the just to make it clear, Jason deserves to die for making a smart ass comment to Carl because Carl’s Girlfriend chose Jason over him… And if Jason the nerd had been the one Candace was with to begin with, and Carl had “stolen” her from him, then made a smartass remark about it Jason would have been perfectly justified in killing Carl as well?
No because Jason is also a really creepy dude and just sits on his damn computer all day, I remember at one point you walk up to talk to him and he’s watching a show on one of the moniters and when he sees you he quickly tries to shut it off before you notice
Oh and Jason is creepy because he carries around some chicks finger (geese!)
I am trying to stay out of the Jason vs. Carl debate since as the writer, I am unbiased. I just wish I could write fast enough to show you where the storyline goes.
@Shssay Sorry for taking the summer camp mission down before you had a chance to play it again. Good news – there will be a follow-up scene to it, so I’ll repost that mission in a few weeks.
@817819 He didn’t try to beat him “mostly” to death. He was just stopped before he could finish. At least originally, before you could let him loose. Killing someone isn’t teaching them a lesson, it’s murder. Jason, unlike Carl with his physical strength combined with paranoia, jealousy, and obsessiveness isn’t much of a threat to the group as a whole, even if you don’t think he’s useful, he definitely doesn’t need to be killed immediately for the safety of the whole, or in this case rendered comatose, and thus even less useful.
And it’s not like Candace just chose Jason over Carl because she’s evil. Mindy has already said by that point that she doesn’t like Carl, and this scene shows exactly why.
but she didn’t choose she cheated on Carl with Jason while they were still together and I think they should have let Carl beat him more before pulling him off and not made such a big deal out of it Carl showed a hell of allot more restraint than I would have
it wasn’t candace cheating on him with Jason that pushed Carl over the edge it was the fact that Jason had the balls to shoot his smart mouth off at him after the fact
@Lobo420 No worries. I was more amused than anything else.
@Shoelip Carl certainly has issues, and his relationship with Candace is a bit dysfunctional as Mindy points out. Jason also has his issues, and his last relationship also comes across as rather dysfunctional which he doesn’t seem to realize even as he describes it. Neither is a particularly great catch for a girl, and I don’t see Candace being happy with either of them over the long term. And for that matter, Candace hasn’t acted like a saint either, lying to Carl while going back and forth between them. So they’re all flawed human beings who share responsibility for this ugly mess. I only sympathize with Carl because the other two were cheating behind his back, and Jason just had to be a derrière and throw kerosene on the fire at the worst possible moment, while Carl was struggling to maintain his self control and leave. Do I think Jason deserves to die for it? No I don’t, stomping on Jason’s head went too far, but I don’t particularly fault Carl for hitting Jason that first time and knocking him down.
