WIP: Through Olympus (working title) [Update: 02/09/2021]

Hey there! Cool game, so far!
I’m SO grateful to be able to select for the MC to be a demi-god or an actual god. In ALL stories of that type I’ve read before, the MC was a demi-god, and it was frustrating. Being able to have a true god MC is a breath of fresh air!
With that being said, could it be possible to decide of the physical traits of the MC (for example around the same time as the height)? Things like hair, skin and eye colors and so on, I mean.

Generally speaking, I like the pacing of the story, but I think flashbacks to the Underworld will be very important in the future, because as it is, if the MC is meant to say in Olympus for the duration of the story, there is no attachment to the Underworld whatsoever, especially considering the MC doesn’t seem to enjoy the place, with him complaining or being scared of the screams of the dead, and all of these things, and with his siblings hating or disregarding him. The ONLY reasons to be loyal to the Underworld would be either if one TRULY adores Nyx, or in case of an MC who’s blindly loyal to his birthplace and disregards their own feelings.
If we get flashbacks to the MC’s past in the Underworld alongside the present timeline on Olympus, we’ll be able to get to care for both realms.

If it was me, I’d probably also add one or two ROs in the Underworld, but I can understand how that would be hard or impossible, especially since a present time romance wouldn’t really work in that case.

Also, it would be nice to know more about the MC’s other parent? We know about Nyx, but who’s the father? If the MC is a demi-god, it’s easy to imagine a random human. But with a full fledged divine MC like mine, I’m REALLY curious about the father.

That aside, I would have kind of liked more variety to how to react to both Hades and Zeus…
More inquiries to Hades for example, and more neutral or maybe positive reactions to Zeus. Aside from the blindly loyal MC type I’ve mentionned before, there is no true reason for the MC to be offended at how Zeus talks about Hades - sure, he may think that it was rude, since it was, but I see no reasons to be angry or offended himself. And I’m sure some MC’s could also be very angry at Hades for disregarding their feelings, forcing that mission onto them etc, and would have an equally bad opinion about him as Zeus does. Others may want to reassure Zeus they are not like Hades, be it sincere or as part of a ploy to make themself liked.

Overall, I guess the game would benefit from a wider variety of choices about how the MC feels or how they adress people, now that I think of it

I’m eager for the MC to be actually able to talk to Ares though, since he’s the RO I’m interested in!
You sold me with that:

I have a peculiar sort of love for ROs that are not smart (bonus points if they are considered pretty dumb by other characters). So yeah, the choice was obvious!

Also, small error, I believe:

After the meeting with Zeus at the end of the current WIP, Apollo says: “Besides, charm works so much better at intimidation, anyway, don’t you think, Father?”
I think it was meant to be “charm works so much better than intimidation”?

thank you! i’m in the process of reworking the story to add more choices and responses, as well as exploring more of the underworld so this is really helpful!

there is a part at the beginning where you’ll be allowed to choose how you look, but it’s still a work in progress and will be implemented soon.

the initial count of the ro’s are four, and i’m planning to focus on that first, before deciding what to do next since i don’t want to be too ambitious and bite off more than i can chew.

thanks for catching the error! i’ll work on that as soon as possible.

I just realized that Ares was an RO, lol
He’s usually depicted as Aphrodite’s lover, so this was interesting! Wonder if Aphrodite’s gonna be jealous

Because of how these gods are often depicted, I always kind of picture Aphrodite as manipulative and not truly in love with him. And I guess I’m also being influenced by my own story that features them among other gods, and where the situation is exactly that, despite him loving her dearly till his death (and she didn’t even bat an eyelash when it happened). And not only she didn’t love him and treated him like trash AND was cheating on him, but at the same time, she’d have gone feral if he had cheated, because she considered she “owned” him.

Soooo… well… I guess my own Aphrodite makes me mildly dislike any other potential representation of Aphrodite and view her with suspicion

If she appears in this story and especially if there’s something between these two (not to mention Ares is the RO I’m interested in), I’ll be SO wary

My MC would probably just endlessly annoy Aphrodite while making her look bad LOL
my MC’s a big show-off and flirt

Lol most Greek gods are manipulative imo.

Ooh that’s an interesting idea. I’d probably make sure she looks bad infront of Ares.

Not much update regarding the story content, but I promise I’m working on it. I did, however, update the code so the overall look of the stats page shouldn’t be as messy as before. Please report any errors you see so I can fix it! And as always, feedback is welcome!

Aphrodite is the worst manipulator because more often than not she will do it for random reasons. It could be because she ships someone so she manipulates then into being together despite what they want or you decided you don’t wanna be in love with anyone and she somehow take offence to this or just plain old jealousy. Aphrodite don’t care about consequences lmao. I would imagine she would be really pissed off with an MC that romance Ares which is probably the scariest possible path in the game right now…

It is only if there is something between them in this interpretation. We don’t know for sure, that’s only speculation.

Lol they meant it in an IF situation, if there is something between Ares and Aphrodite.

Is it bad that I would actually like that? :joy: It’s been a while since I’ve seen a WIP with a bastard of a RO, and Aphrodite could be that. She would be a problem on Ares route and a complicated RO on her own.

I’m late to the discussion so whoops but imma throw my 2 cents in anyways. I think is cool Artemis is a RO as her chasity vow is a bit of a joke anyway as she’s slept with deer and men in several myths I heard and by 1 she even had a woman sexually assaulted for Dionysus for bringing up her false claim as a virgin Goddess. There’s also thought that Artemis has loved a man before, that man being Orion before he was made into a constilation.

I don’t know as many Athena myths but I coud see being able to win her over if you can prove herself worthy of her.

Personally an RO I’d like see Hestia. That girl is an absolute sweetheart

Edit: so I hust read up, I don’t think Artemis should be Asexual. She’s not against sex as much as she’s not a fan of men overall. As I stated above, she has sex she does it for fun, she just doesn’t do it with men, really.

I mean, the RO selection is pretty cool overall!
I’m only interested in Ares for my MC, but I approve of all the options

I do agree with that but I looking back I do agree with one user who said both female RO’s pribably shouldn’t be Asexual, cold, and distant. Where as both male would probably be pretty sexually active and not cold and distant lol. That’s the reason I believe another, warm and gentle goddess should be an option. Hestia’s vow was out of necessity, she’s not asexual and shes a very warm and kind goddess for the most part. Wanting peace and commeradery among her kin

But we don’t know if they are ace in this story, do we?

That IS fair though - I didn’t really think about that considering I’m not interested both in female characters and in warm and sweet characters (most of the time).

I thought the author said they would be. My bad then. I hope I’m not coming across as too against ace people, I just dont think both should be.

I like mostly all of them but so cold and distant as well as the warm and gentle ones usually rank at the top of my list. For example tied first place for my favorite RO. So far are 2 from Maxium’s Breach series. Gabriel whos very warm, kind, and caring as well as Raquel who starts off very cold and distant but can grow so close and comfortable with you that she breaks one of the main rules her and Gabriel are suppose to follow as leaders of this group and shows you her face

It’ll be pretty interesting if the author decides to subvert the well-known characterisation of the Greek pantheon even if it’s tough. If they deviate too much there will be a conflict between their personality and their godly nature.

It’s just the Ares-Aphrodite love affair is one of the more well-known myths of the gods and they are two of the scariest gods on Olympus because of their unpredictability. Ares is a war god that doesn’t necessarily care for either sides while Aphrodite has a lot of story that indicates she can be… impulsive.

there’s also a narrative way to build Ares’ character from it. Ares could have gotten tired of Aphrodite’s infidelity because Ares isn’t even her only other affair, MC could ally with Hephaestus since he would rather Ares focus on MC instead of his wife. I’m not saying the path is bad or anything, just the idea of having Aphrodite pissed at you is truly a terrifying thing.

she’s the chaotic force that can really make the Ares path unique. I can see her being really supportive with all the other ROs but with Ares she became more of an antagonist. I almost don’t want her as an RO if the author doesn’t implement an open relationship with her because to me Aphrodite’s love cannot be limited to one person.
