The Hierarchy essentially skips from Capitaine, who is in charge of a Compagnie, to Lieutenant-colonel, who commands a Bataillon. Essentially the Major and Lieutenant-colonel ranks have been merged as far as duties go.
I think I already corrected that issue. It might not have gotten into the last update I pushed out though, so it will be in the next one. I’m going to push that update out to dashingdon before I head to bed tonight, so in a few hours.
How does this Observer post look for a chance of getting promoted? I feel like what’s going to go down in that jungle may suite a merit base promotion. And what is the ranking system for your Legion of Honor? Is it carbon copy of Napoleon’s? How do you add some differences. If I’m not mistaken, Commandant is the middle ranking for the Legion of Honor. So what is the highest and is there any Grande reward for that? I know this is silly but it’d be interesting to see if we do go down with a military career will eventually acquire a stock oof metals. I would love to see the accommodation with think of that
General and then First Counsel of the Republic! Then Emperor clearly right? After all in a Napoleonic story where we are covering ourselves in glory we might as well mimic the career path.
This is more of Napoleon the third era then Napoleon the first. I have no idea how high are characters rise. But they’re at the Genesis of obviously one of the most powerful the cabal in this nation Natalie not there when the founding members they’re the third part of the Trinity in is trifecta.
Nah, he probably isn’t unless he bought that commission. The Cuirassiers wouldn’t be deployed in this kind of war, too elite to be just thrown into a meat-grinder without purpose.
@gia In the academy chapter when in conversation with both Simon and the countess, choose the “Simon” option followed by the “de Louvais” option, Simon is quite the chivalrous knight and he likes it if you remember your manners in turn. That will get your relationship up to 40, which should be enough to be able to write to him now.
You can get it up to 50 by visiting his father, and again being polite to his old man too, in which case his father will apparently write Simon a letter a bit later on that will improve his opinion of us to 50. This used to be mandatory but now it isn’t anymore, which means you can explore the city on your own now too and still be able to write to Simon.
Learn Simon’s first name and lineage in the academy chapter, then choose to stay with his father at the palace in the observer chapter and then you’ll attend a small gala hosted by his father where you’ll meet Maxime again.
You’re probably right, cute knights in shiny armour aren’t simply cannon-fodder like we are, though I must question did Ekatarina request a dangerous position in the infantry, or did she or her family piss-off someone high up in the hierarchy to become cannon-fodder, same as us?
Well he presumably has the connections and the money for it, on the other hand he also seems to like making his own way and he certainly never bragged about his family while we were at the academy with him, again as befitting a cute knight.
So I forgot to do this last night. It’s done now though.
You’ll have the option to get some shiny things pinned to your chest for the Observer path, but not a promotion. While technically the service years would be enough upon return to the Old World, the general staff does consider the Baedran Free State as an essentially worthless backwater - as has become obvious from their replies to your reports.
As for the Order of Honour, it’s your fairly typical military honours system. There’s four tiers: Chevalier, Officier, Commandant, Grand Aigle. Each tier is exponentially harder and harder to get to, and unless there has been significant merit or gallantry involved to get you a promotion in the Order, there’s a waiting period as well.
The Cuirassiers weren’t involved in the war. the only cavalry forces involved were Hussars, Dragoons, and some Lancers from Lembeaux.
For de Martal’s rank, you’re correct. He’s still a Lieutenant as far as the MC knows, and without anything to do but man a post, it’s unlikely he will receive a promotion based on merit or gallantry. So if you see him as a Capitaine the next time you meet him, it’s likely he or his father have pulled some strings to get him ahead.
She doesn’t really have a family that might piss off anyone, but she didn’t exactly request the position either. It’s more of a case of she was happy with it and didn’t march off to have it changed based on her senior noble title. Besides which, she did want to see war, and there were only two Aspirants that left the Academy for Lembeaux that day.
We won’t be ascending in military rank at all on the university path, if we get recalled to service after that one they might even try to get us to accept a lieutenant’s commission again.
I agree.
You mean join the Imperial side of the oncoming revolution/civil war? There would be a lot of people ahead of us then, being promoted or even promoting ourselves to the top military man is likely to be easier on the rebel side.
