Well in modern history in the UNED the Spanish distance university I follow a history mayor critique the majority of British historians that put so highly the role of The marrocan force like some sort of Afrikan corps. It was a veteran army well prepared for the south climate and terrain. however they usefulness in the meddle and northern was terribly. It was essential at beginning, yes. Afterwards no so much. It was so much used in the regime as propaganda that almost appear four moros and criminals conquered the Republicans. A key force yes but not the main reason of victory.
Obviously such a small force canât be the sole reason of victory in a big conflict the Spanish Civil War was, but as you said, their key role was in the beginning, and establishing an united frontline, which happened in no small thanks to them was very important. Using hardened war veterans as shock troops is very effective. While regular troops would be covering most of the front, Army of Africa was used mostly as a spearhead unit that attacked the most vital parts of the front allowing the rest to advance. And donât forget that the propaganda works both ways - Republican side had a lot of inexperianced and civilian fighters on their side, the sole information that theyâd facing brutal (their brutality during the Rif War is well known) and hardened soldiers would definitely have an effect on their morale.
Not possible, unless by that time weâre the former president turned regular history teacher as that intro clearly references a lesson plan for at least a semester that the mc apparently made him/herself.
She could have been similarly demoted by the new regime. However prestigious or no, that we apparently need that job indicates a less than comfortable requirement. It is also indicated that the kids are highschool and not college age if theyâre really just a quarter of our mcâs age by that point on average.
My problem with this game is I know Mara will fail at the end. And thatâs not the problem as role-player I have played many games knowing I would die. Itâs that The Mara I know and play would SUICIDE or DYING IN AN ATTACK BEFORE ACCEPT THE DISHONOR OF BECOMING A joke commoner teacher in a wild and patetic kindergarten rural school.
Exactly the fact that I as a player know that my mc is going to end up on the wrong end of a perhaps purge happy Republican regime and be sent to teach history at a rural highschool (much like Deng Xiaopingâs demotion and exile to that rural tractor factory) wonât deter my mc from joining up with the Repubilcans during the revolution and its immediate aftermath.
Besides as a player I also know Maraâs mc on the Imperial side will meet an almost similar fate under the (reformed) Imperial regime.
Thatâs what doesnât have sense. Mara would conspire and not let her being let away except like our Chinese friend of cats Knows that sooner or later his time would return. And thatâs not credible Mara would gun her head of or make someone chopped her head as a noblewoman she is. Death before DISHONOR. And being a rural teacher of some dirty peasantry spawn is worse than death. Is an eternal torture.
Lesson plans can be produced at the school administration level.
Just because it doesnât fit your head cannon doesnât mean itâs not possible. The lesson plan could easily be the course standard we were asked to follow while we filled in for the regular teacher.
Alternatively a state run school following a successful rebellion would have plenty of reasons for a successful leader to take time from their busy schedule to personally see to the proper indoctrination of selected classes of high potential students. Good PR plus it gives the regular teachers an example of exactly what they should be teaching.
I finish my first play through in demo and I must stay wow!! Your writing is awesome just awesome. I love how it hint what you want to do with your life it show so many different directions.
So my character Edmond was silver tongue slender bugger of noble birth that is loyal to his family. In my playthrough he rise to captaina get knighted all before he twenty two. I love how game rising star in the military and then War is just over. What love is too that you can stumble into greatness. Now I wonder if I screwed myself out any medals Rewards because I did not attack the mine I stripped there train track. The good Duchess/colonel can I marry you please she thought was great but told me lack âhonorâ so General staff not going to like it.
I love how the war ends the game goes in different directions. I took the post in the new world has a military Observer. Well looks like you can actually go back to University was option too. I love world was kinda pull power fantasy rising them slap you down send you off to former colony. Iâm really curious to see what direction to go with him and see how much the paths fork.
FYI I love the female characters in this game I just donât know who I want to romances. I love the Reyer Maybe her daughter is are daughter The countess another one I love Same for adventurous merchant!!
Funny think I never feel like rising to power in your games this one included. What you do so well is show much agency are character have have in their position and what a person in their position can affect. Not so muchâŚyet.
New World cut off at weird part it in middle of dinner when the Ambassador is being the typical Colonial Ambassador.
Without spoiling anything how many medals titles and honor are character can win!
Another side note when we are new world is our main character in full military regalia the entire time?
Would have picture of what could possibly look like?
As well can pick are major and where will are education get us and is possible we can become academic Doctor or any Doctor for that matter? What is an academic doctor referring to the old school where can your doctor during the 19th century where was awarded to you as being a leader in your field of research.
Just started reading this and am really liking it! Glad to see another game in development after Best of Us.
I guess that depends on what sort of âvibeâ youâre getting from that scene, mine says rural backwoods or small town school, not prestigious âGrand Universityâ, but youâre right we donât knowâŚyet.
What gives you that vibe?
We had that discussion way back at the beginning, from here on onwards.
Itâs a feeling the total impression, if we were a guest lecturer we would likely not be as familiar with the students as we are and if weâre a famous guest lecturer at a prestigious university the students would usually pay more attention (particularly since in college you can just skip out on things that donât interest you and you alone will bear the consequences. Whereas the sleepy, disinterested class that we get screams highschool to me since it is kind of obvious they have to be there and many arenât there out of their own volition, again unlike with prestigious universities).
I think that supports the fact that we arenât a guest lecturer, but the subject matter certainly seems to be university level. The fact that the MC expects the class to read an entire treatise before the next class would indicate a higher level of education. Also the fact that the MC is specifically responsible for history and apparently nothing else.
But that is caught by the âquarter of our age statementâ, though mine assumes to mc is around 60, which would make the mc around 60 in that scene and 14-15 is usually highschool and not college age. To get the 20 year old college students to be a quarter of our age the mc would have to be around 80 by then. Around that age, while I can see the occasional guest lecture still happening, my mc wouldnât take on the stresses of a full-time teaching job at that age, unless he has to.
At that age Iâd rather see my mc be pleasantly retired to some sub-tropical place with several cute male ânursesâ.
Well the narrative describes feeling the wrinkles on your face. I think that would have to be an age beyond 60 and telling your class to read something as ponderous as the âTreatise on Maritime Affairs Upon the Eve of The Northern Campaignâ by the next class means they are either extremely smart or not 15.
Most likely, or the mc just really pushes his students hard.
In any case the mc to me by that point seems really old to (still) be a regular teacher:
The classroom opens up before you, filled with students that are less than a quarter your age. Some of their heads are bobbing as they struggle to stay awake, others are fidgeting with their notebooks or scribbling on them, others still are chatting in quiet whispers. Then there are the handful of people actually interested
which to me indicates either exile or at least a less than comfortable âretirementâ.
EDIT:
I think itâs even worse than I assumed as that intro to the flashback (where the main game takes place) is specifically stated to be just thirty years prior and the oldest the mc can be at the start is just 20, making us fifty at most in that scene and with children a quarter of our age that implies the lower classes or grades of high school, at most.
I donât see anything about uniforms, but I also donât see anything not about uniforms. Could be a military academy, which would also explain a slightly younger audience given the irl time period, the highly specific military course of instruction, and the MCâs presence despite desiring nothing but to be drinking Cuba Libres, smoking a Davidoffs, and contemplating the significance of the bird population on his vineyardâŚ
Also at 50 apparently the MC spent their company grade years squinting at the sun to be so wrinkledâŚ
@idonotlikeusernames Interpretation does seem more likely based on a pure reading of the text, my point was simply that itâs not necessary the only one. The one big point in my favor is that from a meta perspective few readers are going to be happy playing a choice game that is destined to end with your mc having a job that is arguably less appealing then they may have in real life.
