Hang on. So there are two branches of chapter 3? No matter what I try I always get the Universitie one,
Correct. The other branch takes you to the colonies as an military observer or something like that. To get there you need to have a good relation with Comte Bernard (the one you meet on the train ride to the academy).
To be more specific, you gotta help the Comte with his cigarette, say that military life is different, then say that the mountain pass is as important as the front
Ahoy, itās an Announcement!
On (this upcoming) Wednesday - the 29th of June - I will be doing an experiment and I invite all of you fine folks to join me.
I am setting aside a few hours to work on my summary for Lords of Aswick, and shape up some plans I have for the sequel. As I concentrate on other stories, Inevitably I will start losing track of all the names and character traits that were so very important in First of His Blood, and I want to make sure that the world stays consistent for as high of a degree as I can make it. So while I am scrolling through the raw files of Lords of Aswick trying to find all the significant characters, I might as well host a bit of an AMA to coincide and talk about the future.
This will happen between 5pm and 8pm (Times in GMT) on the 29th of June over on twitch.tv/dgoshman, and I hope that many of you are able to pop in and say hello, and maybe ask a few questions. Even if you cannot, the video will remain on Twitch for as long as the service allows, which is about a month I believe.
I am ambivalent at best about streaming, and more importantly Twitch Creative, but I feel like it is worth the shot as a medium for conducting an AMA while also showing all of you some neat things about released stories, upcoming stories, and even stories I have planned for far down the line.
So, come and pop in if you can and I might show you a snippet of my plans for the Lords of Aswick series. I will also be taking on any questions about Best of Us or The Golden Eagle, even Runnerās Shadow. Seriously, the floor will be open.
While I dislike replying to my own post, just popping in to give all of you fine folks the notice that the stream is live.
If you are able to pop in, do say hi!
Sorry while my job allows me to get away with taking lots of micro-breaks and using the internet for almost anything thatās not something Iāll be able to do. Will you also share your diabolical plans with your faithful audience on these forums?
If there are any big revelations during the stream, I will be sure to write up a post about it, but I think most of those will require some audience participation.
The video itself of the stream will remain on Twitch, probably with some bits muted because of copyrighted music and such.
EDIT: This was probably the biggest thing revealed on the stream:
Okay, time to admit to a bit of heresy here, since I already like this game more than the Aswick series where there any juicy revelations about this one, the Golden Eagle, made in that video?
Given that this is the thread for The Golden Eagle, I guess it is allowed and maybe even encouraged to say you like this game more than others.
@Goshman at one point showed like an outline of the story in a white board he had on the wall.
One intrepid viewer (Iām not going to say who), while far away from the clutches of the Choice of Games moderators, broke what is probably the most sacred rule of the forums when it comes to works in progress. We all know which rule is that. As if that werenāt shocking enough, Goshman provided an answer. Somewhat. I donāt know how much I can say and get away with it, but Iāll say this: by the time you read this you probably wont have to wait too long.
We also got to see a scene he was writing from the observer branch while he was writing it.
Some members of forum made an appearance. If youāve ever wondered āwhat would happen if Cataphrak asked Goshman some questions or vice-versa?ā that happened.
Lords of Aswick was a great game. Iāll look forward to the sequel but Iād also certainly encourage the author to keep the updates coming on this game as well.
interesting sorry you got here.
not sure any of the stats i choose did anything too change the story at all?
also there are a few time where i picked other paths and the story was the same no matter
So I was wondering. Is this going to end up being another series like LoA or just a one shot deal.
he has talked about there being a follow up for LoA just that it will take a long while
So will we have a chance to make our own fortune or will we never really get the chance
Just saw your new WIP. Just started playing it. Just a tiny detail about one of the titles youāre using when presenting the PC. Messieur is actually spelled Monsieur (Messieurs being the plural form), I get that most of your public wonāt notice the error considering that it is a french word and most of your readers probably are english native speakers but I just thought Iād let you know. Anyway Iāll continue reading The Golden Eagle.
Good catch.
I do use the titles differently from what they are while still invoking the French roots. Itās the only place where Iāve taken conscious liberties with the language, mostly in order to throw off readers from their normal gender bias.
Serah is not a real honourific, and Demoiselle in reality refers to young women and (from what Iāve gathered) is fairly archaic.
If itās conscious I guess itās all fine and good. And considering that french is my native language, I do hope I would catch a spelling error in my own language
Demoiselle technically refered to unmarried women (and considering the time period it was most used in they obviously were fairly young)
Nowadays Mademoiselle is used with the family name for unmarried women in a professional obviously. Although avoid using it if they are more than 30 years old (except if they insist on it obviously).
A few other things that ticked my eye so far :
You forgot a word here
āThe unknown strikes a definite fancy with you. Although you do not what it would requireā
It should probably be something like āalthough you do not know what it would requireā
āMy adjutants will also act my eyes and ears amongst you when I am unavailable to observe in person.ā
Adjudants, not adjutants. Although considering what you said earlier it could be deliberate.
āThe chatter continues until the door opens to the officersā quarters and all of your Cadets jump to attention, seeing Lieutenant Colonel de Reyer walks in.ā
I could be wrong here but isnāt it supposed to be āseeing Lieutenant Colonel de Reyer walking inā or āseeing that Lieutenant Colonel de Reyer walks in.ā ?
Thatās the only things I noticed so far, Iāll continue reading it later but so far itās been interesting.
still have not found out how or if age or starting stats change game play?
ether i am missing the minor changes or there are none?
so far i played a 16 y old and a 20 y old and both stats and story`s go over the same things no matter what i do?
however the unit stats thing i like and can see how that could work.
i am missing some greater context for what i am doing any why but hoping that will be fixed or expanded up on
is there a reason why the story want me too go back too school and not stay on the field?
anyway looking forward too any new chapter that might be coming up
(also for some reason have a really hard time being angry with old officer man who name i totally forgot right now)
So I was wondering if we go to the new world if we will be required to fight in any foreign wars
Oh I havenāt, donāt you worry. Iāve been keeping a low profile because I canāt say for certain when an update will come out anymore and I donāt want to push out more and more dates I canāt keep.
The good news is that I have a 25k word update on my hands right now, and Iām looking for a good spot to pause, bugfix, and push it out. Thatās 25k split to the two major branches fairly evenly.
Right now Iām working on a duel that happens in the University branch, the duel being a branch of a branch and needs to come back around. Iāve taken a pause from the Military branch, since I just got the MC to the Baedran Free State finally on that side.
EDIT: Iāll tell you one thing, I never shouldāve gotten Overwatch. Heroes never dieā¦
