I’m back again and I’ve already given your new update a quick read. Although I had a problem saving the game, which required me to start all over again – I don’t know if it was something I did wrong when saving or a configuration issue – I just know it didn’t load. Aside from that, I’m enjoying how the story is unfolding. It’s going in a really cool direction. And don’t give up, you have great potential.
I like the back and forth between Kana and MC it’s really entertaining, that being said I don’t see MC doing anything but arguing with her unless they either have a mediator or common ground… or they can kiss and make up whichever’s more convenient
The arguing is intentional for now. These are two people who have independently decided that keeping everyone at arm’s length is just more efficient than the alternative, and they’re both good enough at it that neither one of them can easily get past the other’s defenses. So yes, right now the dynamic is essentially two locked doors facing each other. But that’s kind of the point.
The mediator angle is actually closer to what I have planned than you might expect. The club premise exists for a reason.
As for common ground—it’s already there, they’re just both too stubborn to acknowledge it. The whole scene is basically two people describing the same wound using completely different vocabulary. There are bits and pieces where the armor cracks, but only if you are observant of the writing and read between the lines.
The kiss and make up option is on the table, but it’s not gonna happen anytime soon lmao.
The saving problem is most likely on the site, since I play tested it again and there seems to be no problems on my end.
Glad you enjoyed the update, though. It’s a bit shorter than I would have liked, but splitting it felt necessary for the pacing before moving on.
I really appreciate the encouragement. I have no plans of dropping this anytime soon. Too much coffee has already been invested into this project.
For some reason I can’t seem to edit the main post. I guess I’ll be keeping the RO list for myself then.
Need to reach a certain trust level with the sight to be able to change starting thread post.
@Yasmim_Bandeira just to check did you try using a old save and got something along the lines of game has updated and restarted type of message? If so then its because of the update and you need to start with a fresh game.
Short and spicy------Not much to say than I enjoyed the banter between R/Shin (lol) and Kana; Though I am pleasantly delighted to see you kept the alliterating first and last name quirks from the anime! Might be a little meta or self-indulgent but if you continue the trend with more characters, it’ll be a funny easter-egg for a sarcastic focused MC to point it out lol
@You need to send a message to a forum moderator.
Good catch on the alliteration. I was wondering who would notice that first. As for the R/Shin thing… lmao. I really thought I buried that name deep in the earth, but clearly, the Nasuverse brainrot is too strong and a tiny part of it still managed to crawl its way back to the surface.
Writing the second half of Chapter 1 is sailing smoothly. The heavy rain outside is providing the perfect motivation to keep going.
In the meantime have this snippet:
Snippet
The lack of any follow-up made it hit harder. It was nearly five o’clock, the hour when the evening broadcast chime would play across the campus to signal the end of regular activities.
This deep inside the special building wing, the cultural clubs had already packed up and gone home, leaving the hallways completely deserted. A faint hum of static suddenly buzzed from the Public Announcement speaker in the corner, a sign that the automated system was warming up for the daily announcement.
Kanashiro took two quiet steps toward the exit. The rubber soles of her indoor shoes made no sound against the worn linoleum as she paused to listen near the frame.
Nothing came through the wood. Even the distant shouts from the sports teams practicing on the far fields seemed to have vanished, leaving us stranded in an unnatural pocket of isolation.
The back and forth with Kana was really funny,i was already on board with the concept because Oregairu is dope, and that part showed you have the chops for fun dialogue, keep up the good work.
Also type moon reference on the name selector. That’s my shit
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS KIND OF STORY!! LET’S GOOO BABYYYYY. Ngl, the only story among hosted game with this vibe was Sensei’s story and seeing this, I praise that you succeed in writing the story. Best wish to ya.
Hi! I’ve been eyeing this for a few days, but I actually don’t know if this will be for me, at least the romance aspect of it, so I prefer to still ask about some clarification.
But can we know if the ROs will be girls only or not? I see the protagonist is gender locked male, but I didn’t seem to find the information about RO genders anywhere nor deduce it from your answers on the thread. I don’t mind waiting for more ROs to appear, but if none fits my interests I prefer not to get invested and be disappointed later on.
To clarify, all the ROs for this story will be female. I only plan on writing straight relationships for this project because it’s what I’m familiar with, and I want to make sure the writing stays effective and authentic. Thank you for asking, though! You’re completely right that I should put a note about RO genders on the next update to keep things clear. Thank you for the feedback.
It’s no problem! And glad my question helped! It’s indeed not a game for me then, but that’s alright obviously. Good luck - the concept is very cool so I’m sure this will get a lot of fans! <3
Your writing is fire
I’m looking forward to see more!
This is a very engaging story so far, I would like to still see the development of the characters even if it’s not my preferred romance type… will these characters have a “friendship route” or something similar? it’s fine if not of course.
I would be willing to lose the main content of this romance game just to see more of it lol.
I might edit this later but to answer your question: yes. The kind of relationship you build will depend entirely on your major choices and how you navigate conflicts. From there, you’ll be given the option to lock in a romance or remain friends. All of this is still in the drafting phase, but that is the general direction I’m heading.
I love this soooo much. I’m a sucker for romance that starts out with the two parties butting heads and think the way you wrote Kana is just perfect so far. I’m excited to have my mc help others and unknowingly having his own walls broken down.
Ok so I thought it was fun ,but why can we name the boy Tohsaka Rin,can we get a female Shirou there ?I want to see how this mc will interact with the ROs, how much chaos this sarcastic fella can cause?
UPDATE: Full Chapter 1 is Live! + The Official RO Roster (22K Words in total)
The second half of Chapter 1 is finally up and ready to play. Picking up exactly where the last update left off, the agonizing silence of the clubroom is officially shattered by that heavy, hollow knock. With this update, the full WIP is now 22K words with code and 20K words without.
If Part 1 was a contained, slice-of-life bottle episode designed to establish the baseline toxicity between the protagonist and Kanashiro Kana, Part 2 is where the narrative actively attempts to break them. I believe I succeeded mostly. I decided to lean heavily into the eerie, liminal atmosphere of an empty Japanese high school at twilight. Depending on whether you choose to bravely investigate the hallway or stubbornly retreat to the clubroom, you will experience either a locked-corridor deductive mystery or a suffocating, high-society standoff.
Regardless, here is the official Romance Option list, as many have requested me to do so:
Kanashiro Kana ( 賀城 佳那 )
The founding president of an unamed club. Kanashiro Kana is introduced as a girl whose solitude feels entirely deliberate. The protagonist notes her strikingly elegant features and describes her eyes as deep, frozen pools that seemingly dissect every cynical thought he harbors. He ultimately categorizes her as a beautiful fortress, built to be admired only from afar. Or, a breathtaking fortress that naturally commands distance. It depends on the protagonist you have built.
Romance with her is a slow-burn battle of wits where yielding an inch of rhetorical ground is a fatal mistake.
Fukami Reika (怜華 深見)
The phantom of the eastern stairwell and a resident of the elite Class 2-F International Track. When she finally steps out of the shadows, the protagonist is immediately struck by her elegantly slender frame and her small and subtly upturned eyes. He notes that her hair possesses the sort of black you find on old lacquerware, moving exactly as much as it needs to and no more. Above all, she radiates a profound, atmospheric emptiness that immediately triggers the protagonist’s survival instincts.
She is a locked door in human form, carrying the unyielding authority of someone entirely accustomed to finding the people around her insignificant.
I highly recommend doing at least two playthroughsof this update to see how the “Investigate” and “Retreat” paths diverge.
Thank you all for reading.
(P.S. I haven’t done as much play testing, so there might be bugs here and there. I apologize in advance for that. I will fix them as soon as I have the time.)
