(WIP) Path of Martial Arts: The Beginning (Dark, Eastern Fantasy | 750k words)

wtf I never seen this shit

I think there was an excerpt stating that the Su clan hasn’t managed to find a way for a person to conceive a child with their weapon. Would the outside world Tang Wei came from have a method to do that?

The first tournament round for non-demonic players.

What’s also funny is that the perk makes it impossible or almost impossible to pass Yang Bohai’s training. Because you get whipped like 99 times and each hit does 100 more damage with it.

If so, it might need another look. Maybe stop after reaching maximum resistance. Though I suppose that would make it too strong?

There could be a way to just turn it off for that one specific scene, since it shouldn’t be a problem otherwise.

Wouldn’t the Stone Skin perk counter that? It reduces all incoming damage under 250*skill level to 1.

Also, Adaptive Flesh doesn’t just make you take damage but increases DR too with each hit. I didn’t run the math, but with 100 hits it should ramp things up pretty quickly. Unless if for some reason that doesn’t work during the trial, in which case, derp.

Hmm are you sure? Looking at the game script, while the game disables protective effects of robes and such in that trial, perks like stone skin should function normally because they aren’t affected by the gear switch:

*label main_reduce_health
*params value return defense
//...
*if (defense)
  *if (items_enabled)
    *if (robe = "iron_robe")
      *set value -500
    *elseif (robe = "aegis_robe")
      *set value -1000
    *elseif (robe = "ward_robe")
      *set value -2500
  *if passive_cutie_pie > 0
    *if enemy_per > 0
      *set value *((1-(0.03*passive_cutie_pie)))
  *if critical_damage_resistance > 0
    *set value *(1-critical_damage_resistance)

  *set value *(1-DR_actual)
//...
*if passive_superior_constitution > 0
  *temp max_value ((7-passive_superior_constitution)*1000)
  *if value > max_value
    *set value max_value

*set value round(value)

*if (passive_stone_skin > 0)
  *if value < (250*passive_stone_skin)
    *set value 1

(the defense block is skipped, but everything below it should work as usual)

The 100 damage from adaptive flesh ignores these things. We’d just end up taking 101 damage per hit. Though this should make it survivable if you had 10 000 hp.

Do you mean it should reduce AF to 1 damage? Because it doesn’t work like that.

AF just adds 100 unavoidable damage to each hit

Oh yeah, looking at the script

*if (passive_stone_skin > 0)
  *if value < (250*passive_stone_skin)
    *set value 1
//...
  *if passive_adaptive_flesh > 0
    *set temp_DR +(passive_adaptive_flesh/100)
    *set health -100

it’s added after the damage countering perks. Well, that’s pretty crap, then. ;/

Like, it’s not even included in the “damage taken” meter calculations. Wtf is this trash.

To be fair, it would be the best in slot perk for all situations otherwise. I do miss being able to shrug off attacks though. :pensive:

yeah this actually came up in the fight against 12 Houtians.

Hmm is it really the best in slot? I mean, at the rate of 1-4% to DR per hit, you’d need to take a lot of hits for it to add up to noticeable difference. And the recent fights seem to pivot more towards “you get hit 5 times for 50k each” than “you get hit 50 times for 5k damage”, and even in the latter case you’d take metric fuckton of damage before seeing even 1k shaved off the hits.

Yeah, but it also has the alternative cost (like all of them) by taking a perk point that’d buy you something else.

I mean, if you look at the other perks they also technically just provide you a bonus – “reduce damage taken to max X k” and “ignore damage smaller than X”. They don’t make you suffer something for it.

I mean, I only tested it with my build. It performs worse against Liu Mogui, but excels in the fight after. Granted, it does result in using the revival talisman and you still get killed if you don’t choose what to dodge.

As for is it the best in slot, I meant if you could remove the damage it adds each hit, it’s just free DR, isn’t it? I’m not built for meta talks :cold_sweat:

@NickyDicky So the perk…if gain them 2 or 3 times the same perk in the upgrade stat
that doesn’t do anything ?

(i gain the agility perk footwork multiple time, that didn’t change anything)

Maybe a note could tell that those perk aren’t upgradable (there are note on some of them, that great by the way).

Till next.

Normally taking the perk multiple times improves some aspect of it, the one presented in bold in their description.

E.g. evasive footwork increases how many charges (and what type) of the ability to avoid the damage you have available per fight:

  • lvl 1: 2x avoid 50% of damage
  • lvl 2: 1x avoid 50% of damage, 1x avoid 100% of damage
  • lvl 3: 2x avoid 50% of damage, 1x avoid 100% of damage
  • lvl 4: 3x avoid 50% of damage, 2x avoid 100% of damage

Perks which can’t be upgraded (anymore) aren’t presented as option to take again, once you take them.

I didn’t say you should do nothing you can still confront him and embarrass his attempts at provoking you. Depending on how things go he can’t even do anything to you so there’s no reason to fight him. Only people who romance Ai have a legitimate reason to fight him honestly.

And only weak and naive MC are actually getting disfigured by him and losing all your qi that’s just a skill issue at that point. The devil breakout is also a personal decision you have to play that encounter in the worst way possible to have all that happen to you. All of it is avoidable

It’s the murderer of the only person who showed you love in your entire childhood. The person who stained your past with humiliation.

He arrived at your new life and took a shit on it. Your wallet- I mean friend beaten within an inch of his life, your rest- I mean his restaurant, proof of his efforts destroyed. Claimed that your clan members, cousins, were either killed or assaulted and there’s no way to be absolutely certain it’s a bluff as you don’t know how crazy he might be.

He shows up with the ability to use qi, something only you’re supposed to be capable of, and you have no answers.

…also he’s a He.

It’s not right to say there’s no reason to fight him. There’s a good chance your last interaction with him resulted in him breaking your ribs. You can’t say it’s unfinished business.

That’s…going to happen to some people, hell, it happened to my last character. Is it not worth mentioning?
Of course it’s avoidable but if you think about it, all of our feats are avoidable too. And at that point what are we even arguing about?

When I say fight I mean trying to fight him right then and there in that manner throwing caution to the wind and breaking the sect rules to follow blindly into his trap.

Of course all the MC’s hold a grudge against him and the He Clan in general. But an MC who flies off the handle and attacks him clearly hasn’t learned anything about how to properly deal with the He Clan even after witnessing the Long Chen and He Mei fiasco and their own history with He Clan as a child

Anyways my point was that scenario isn’t an absolute loss for every MC only for ones who mismanage the situation.
