(WIP) Path of Martial Arts: The Beginning (Dark, Eastern Fantasy | 590k words)

You will have a much harder time but it won’t matter after the expedition. Although you will be able to advance to M-H without doing either of these in the expedition next update

Thanks but I decided to restart and go full Power hungry :P. But the second Yang Bhoi (I think that’s how it’s spelled) mentioned his pills would cause baldness, I backed out lol.

recalls Tang Rou’s opinion on beauty vs power

It’s pretty funny that half the users here simping for The Celestial Prince/ss would be the same people that disappoint/disgust him/her with their vanity. Seriously, is the good-looking trait/your hair(??? this doesn’t even have any mentions/gameplay effects) so important that you’d lock yourself out of significant game paths/benefits? I’d be more worried about withdrawal/the dependencies on the Yang, tbh.

…hell, just go get a wig+a mask, it worked for that one disfigured kid during the danger zone.

Absolutely. And for all the Ruo’s talk about blah blah power he won’t even consider you worthy to be his concubine without the trait, so the little lizard hypocrite can eat shit for all i care.

edit: also, i don’t see him eat any pills that’d make him lose hair and/or his own good looks to get more power, even if it’s very likely such stuff is available to imperial heir.

Fair enough.

(Was it ever mentioned if the events that remove the good looking trait knock you down to the same level as someone who goes through the same event without having the good looking trait? Gameplay wise there’s no difference and it makes sense lore wise but it does seem to be quite harsh since it’s the only way one can lose a trait bought with very limited points. I’m not displeased, quite the opposite, just noting an observation.)

I don’t think it’s really elaborated anywhere, but losing the trait will cause Ma Rin to revoke her decision to be your master (on the grounds you’re now an eyesore) which is effectively as if you were trait-less to begin with. So it’d seem that yes, you’re pretty much knocked down to the level of average person (if not worse, but the game doesn’t make such distinction)

Where is it mentioned? I haven’t seen it yet .

When he asks if you know the difference between the two of you when you have the Arts competition one of your responses can be “I’m better looking than you” or something along those lines.

Thanks … Wait so if lose the good looking trait I won’t be able to romance Rou ? Asking because I always go for Yang Bohai as a master.

I highly doubt the food looking trait is required, but would help since it’s the only way to get them to consider you concubine worthy as fsix mentioned. Ultimately I don’t think Nicky would lock romancing anyone behind a trait you can’t get anywhere except the beginning, especially since there are so many other good traits to spend your points on, especially on mortal mode.

Good looking ain’t a bad trait. It doubles charisma gains, but I guess it doesn’t matter if you don’t care much about charisma.

In my opinion, good looks and eagle spirit are one of the best (if not the best) traits because charisma and perception are the only abilities that cannot be increased with pills and even if you are like me and refuse to use pills, Physical abilities still improve during certain events but with charisma and perception this does not happen making them the most difficult to improve

Thats what I have too although I’m planning to get the vitality boosting one next time because I get as much vit as possible after the expedition because of the health boost. Still with good looking tho

Both of you make good points, though personally I’m not sure if char itself is as important as the other stats. Fail constitution or perception and future tests are harder, and failing agility or strength means you often lose health or in extreme cases, straight up die. Vitality is important for obvious reasons.

Meanwhile fail a char check and…others just don’t believe you? The worst consequence I’ve seen so far is that lei takes over your camp and even that isn’t so bad since he’s willing to be pretty lenient with you if youre on good terms with him. You can’t kick out the suspicious disciples, but you can handle them easily if you’re careful about it. Making friends is much harder without the boost, but so far I haven’t had any issues given I’m not an ass about it.

The boost you get from charisma itself (and the extra options which require the beauty trait to pass) make it much easier to establish close relationships with characters (as well as mitigate losses from negative interactions) which can be quite important when some of your options are gated behind 65+ relationships and such.

In contrast, the impact of failing physical checks in combat is pretty minor especially for a character with regeneration trait (which is to say pretty much for everyone) because you can always open Stats menu and top yourself up if things go dire. And if they aren’t dire then you’ll simply get that extra hp lost back after the fight.

I can’t say I’ve had trouble getting characters to pass their 65 opinion checks even when dumping char, though that’s most likely because I’ve played through many, many times, so I’m more informed on how to make them friendly to me than a more casual playe. Otoh, it seems like as long as you don’t outright insult them and agree with their plans and goals they’re on friendly enough terms with you.

In my experience it’s mostly Tang Ruo and Tigress who are quite difficult to get to this stage with low charisma if you don’t have additional factors working in your favor – for Ruo, a few of interactions will only increase his opinion if you pass charisma check (or have the beauty trait) and the opportunities to interact with him are quite scarce, while Tigress will take limited interest in characters who don’t have specific physical features. This isn’t to say you can’t get on positive terms with them without charisma, but you’ll effectively have to eagerly lick their behind at every opportunity, taking their most favored options, in order to get there.

I don’t quite disagree :v but i want a rivalmance for Ruo and my MC, and that’s not really compatible with prostrating before him 24/7

this sounds like the opposite of a probl
Hopefully future updates will have more chances for interactions with them, then.

With tigress that hasn’t been my experience although I ve always tried to romance her as well but even before her romance parts she is easy to get high favor with just don’t be a jerk to her.

Except your forgetting that’s exactly what he did with the ambidextrous trait being tied to having MG for a master, and the good looking trait for Ma Rin.
