Guess I’ve got some editing to do! You make a great point though—I hadn’t considered people would read the yous as a mistake in perspective rather than just a style of prose. It’s a little embarrassing lol
And thanks for the clean-up detail too, as always!
Hi, it’s me! Quick question beforehand: what’s the best place to post something for you all to see? Is it down here in the comments, or should I edit the main post? I’d be grateful if someone could let me know
Just though I’d crosspost this from Tumblr, for those of you who aren’t over there:
I’d say it’s going to take me a week and a bit to finish off the current scene I’m writing.
After that, there’s just three scenes left. I reckon I can get the majority of that work done before the end of January.
After that, we have editing and bug fixing/testing.
These tasks require much less creative juice to get right, which means I can pretty much put my hands to the grindstone and power through at my own speed. Maybe 2-3 weeks of work for that? Depending on if there’s any heinous errors that turn up.
But then I will be done, and the update can release.
Word count’s currently nearing 100k.

You can find the full December update on my Tumblr. But, don’t worry, you’re not missing much aside from some personal touches haha.
The updates I make over there are monthly, if you’re interested in keeping a closer track on progress. Link’s in the main post.
I personally like comments, because then I get a notification. I’m not sure if the same applies to only changing something in the main post. Maybe someone that knows better can tell that.
I mean, obviously for when I release updates to the story itself, I’ll give the main post an overhaul—but I thought there was no actual notification for the post being edited?
Yes, and no. If a reader is only following the thread, you don’t really see main post updates outside of the updated title when you actually click onto the thread if the title is long enough that the update date is hidden due to margin limits. If you’ve bookmarked a thread using the forum’s bookmark feature, you’ll get notified of main post edits even if it is merely a little typo fix.
I just tend to become impatient, and a lot of people post a lot of things, so I tend to just ignore it unless there’s some sort of update, question, so on. I find I miss a lot because not everyone updates the main post so I don’t see it all. But if the author posts something I will go back and read posts I’m interested or replies that interest me, I will go back and read the full post that was quoted. Honestly it was just chance that I happened to catch this post.
Well, don’t worry! You might miss out on extra information—but anything important, tangible changes to the game, etc, will go in the main post, for sure
I see—so following and bookmarking are two different things? Either way, when there’s something properly important, I’ll make sure to edit the post and make a comment. I’ll have to write that down so I remember lol
It’s their 9-5, lol. Saving people for a grumpy hero must be like dragging the items of a weekly shop through a checkout haha. Thank you for the feedback!
There were three scenes left at the beginning of January, and I’m just finishing up the first one now.
The second scene is a shorter one, more of a bridge between a set-up and a knockdown for the finale of the chapter.
The third scene’s longer, though it’ll be quite a pacy one to write, I reckon—coupled with that last-lap burst of speed I’ll surely get.
So my estimate is that all writing will be done by the end of this month—100% before the end of next.
As we’re getting closer, and with the writing load beginning to drop off, I’ve also started to dip my toes into some minor editing stages. A lot of these smaller tweaks don’t require creative juice, and I can do them same-day as a writing session.
I am a little bit stressed with the plate spinning going on, but it feels good to finally tackle some of this stuff that’s been sitting at the back of my mind, impatient for me to get to it.
