Good WIP and very intriguing world. I think as the project grows it might be a good idea to add a Codex, though it’s just a suggestion. Thank you for your work.
Small addition, if you have only one choice on the page you can use page_break instead of fake_choice, so the button would have the text that you want instead of “Next”.
In the code it would look like this.
*page_break Vera speaks up
Instead of this.
*fake_choice
#Vera speaks up
choicescriptdev fandom has more examples of how to use it.
@Murtox coud you make a scene were one of the crew members tryis to steal the KAT and promptly gets atomized by its devensiv systems white a witty remark from the ai girl that then explains that thanks to her the KAT has sothing resembeling concise you could also make so that somewhere in the story mc has an accident witch damages his brain and the ai girl then proceeds to repair the damage white parts of herself wich than leads to mc felling if the mech gets damaged and we’re basicly he becomes partially an extension of the mc he could possibly control it whit his thoughts
also can we put other wepons on it bsp Sword gatlingun or hear me out on this a nukelar version of a gattling for end game and for sience also because I love to not see my enemies very long (no I am absolutely not an unhinged psycho loads nuke launcher you won’t say otherwise right? I mean every san person needs atlest a dozens nuklear missials on a mech)
Update: 19/07/2026 - Now at 38K Words
This one extends the story just a little for everyone and allows a glimpse of the KAT combat. The main focus of this update is on the USL path of Chapter 1. If you wish to try it, don’t shoot the KATs that come to intercept you, and try to help the USL Margena against the 'commies’. Au contraire, if you prefer to shoot at capitalist ‘imperialists’ await the VECA path, and finally, if you want some Andalusian ‘knighthood’, await the Crawler path.
This is fresh off the press, so it may have some grammatical errors or weird stuff with the variables. Also, the goal is to update weekly.
EDIT: Contacted a mod about editing the first post to make it into a wiki.
Can we get a confirmation that this does not take place on Earth? Or maybe on a different planet on a different galaxy together. It would be good to worldbuild and describe the planet/world we are on because it would help in visualizing how dominant the two major alliance blocs are versus the other disparate unalligned ones.
This does not take place on Earth. There will be a segment at the end of Chapter 1 that will go over it, as well as the consequences of what ensued at the Exclusion Zone become clearer.
Also, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could update the word count in the title :v
Like Fireflies to a flame, life begets death.
Will this story be angsty, like there will be lots of character death, and overall pretty realistic?
Just finished reading the story
I have many things to suggest, but it can all be under an umbrella; please add more text in the menu. Maybe you should add a little biography about the characters, both to give us some basic info, and to also at least have some text in the menu. Perhaps you could also add a few weapons and their characteristics
This is roughly the relevant part of the map for the story. League of Andalusian Crowns in Yellow, VECA in red, and SATO in Blue. Not final, but useful for setting the scene. Those places that are mostly black or unoccupied are mostly wasteland or radioactive wasteland.
Yesn’t, but I am leaning against not angsty.
@Murtox If you make it so that characters die you could maby make it so that some of the Ros die bsp:
scenario 1: save Ro a and b and let c and d die
Scenario 2: Save Ro c and d and let a and b die
I think it could make it more realistic and the stakes are higher if you have to choose because you know people die in wars.
If it is not possible no big deal but I think it could be a nice touch
@Murtox in the game there is if you speak with your childhood friend a mention of an old world fleet could you make a connection between this ships and Earth
bsp: Earth got destroyed in an alien invasion and humanity was forced to flee the planet whith these Ark like ships most of the history got forgotten/Destroyed and only these legend remains till Mc finds one of the ships
Excited to see how the story develops!
I think it’s a really promising concept. What I really love about the combination of Cold War politics, post-apocalyptic feudalism, and mecha combat is that it seems to take none of one thing’s influence but yet manages to sound like its own style.
Some of the highlights of my visit were:
The concept of finding an ancient Kataphract as the story’s driving force is a compelling one.
With more than one faction to choose from instead of purely good vs evil, there is more to choose from and replayability is allowed.
Giving players some choice to make their pilot and build alliances or conflict with other players is suited well to the ChoiceScript format.
One idea is to allow players enough time in the early chapters to get attached to the protagonists life, before things start to change. It can make discovery of the ancient KAT and political conflict even more impactful.
So, it’s a positive beginning. I hope the KAT combat, faction politics and character relationships continue to evolve as the story goes on.
I absolutely loved it! Cant wait to see more of this!!! I do wish we had a basic lore section or map to know about the great and middle powers. Looks like there are three factions and sides to chose from…
If this is as good as MechaAce then I am sold.
