It’s a bit not fun that all the other routes have OP MCs but one is average just because has mental powers.
The problem with any power involving time is that it’s so vague, it’s either useless or utterly unbeatable.
So maybe it wasn’t the best idea to choose this one of all the Roman gods…
Not entirely true, it is depending on how far you can look at into future. You can manipulate, trap, deflect, poison, etc your enemies.
The problem with prophetic powers is that if you can use them to change the future you just disproved your own prophecy. Which makes you a poor prophet. A strong prophet would always be right, and therefore completely powerless.
This is why Cassandra of Troy is my favorite character from greek mythology.
Janus’ power lets him see EVERY future not just 1 concrete future so technically he is never disproving his prophecies
And maybe we should wait and see how the author writes the fight scene before arguing if Janus is too OP, too weak, or just average?
I’m sure you have, because I’ve seen plenty of people comparing the MCs in this thread myself.
I personally am pretty excited for Janus’s fight, anyone who can defeat Aries and Thor should be able to put on a pretty good show.
You don’t seem to understand what I meant by absolute strength. Let me give you an example.
Imagine a person. A person so strong that they accidentally destroy universes simply by fighting an enemy at full strength. Now let’s name this person NotGoku.
One day, NotGoku decided to completely destroy earth. Why? Simple! It looks ugly!
Now tell me, with the power to see the future, how exactly can Janus stop NotGoku’s onslaught?
The answer is really simple! She can’t!
Cause what she’s facing here is not someone who can destroy cities, but a person who destroys universes.
And no amount of trickery can bridge the gap of its might. Even if you united all the power of the earth, the fact of the matter is that it would not be enough. If anything, the very thought of even defying that being is so absurd that it is like an ant trying to shake a tree -completely absurd and illogical.
Hence why the saying goes, “in face of absolute power, no amount of trickery will survive it’s might.”
that is why the weak created techniques to counter the strong
Well, I’ve seen enough comparisons and analyzes of MCs powers in this thread, also the author’s answers on Tumblr ![]()
I digress.
Techniques were made not to counter the strong, but to counter our equal.
After all, if techniques were able to counter the strong, then humans wouldn’t have the need to invent spears to hunt large animals now, would they?
But let us not delve further into this issue lest we stray away from the forum.
I’ve just read the author’s answers on Tumblr about this exact thing lol
Some people asked who is the strongest mc in terms of pure power and it was Pele (which makes sense bro is a walking nuclear bomb)
Others asked what are the worst like combos: Author vs Pele (author said thats Stabby prolly couldn’t even hurt Pele); Lucifer could easily mind-fuck Isthar and Janus is basically Batman of this universe: give him prep time, and he can win against everyone else but if he gets jumped it’s over lol
Oh and it’s interesting to point out that even when Arthur snaped and destroyed the city, he wasn’t even going all out, can’t wait to see all the fables at 100%
I’m liking the story for now, the origins of the immortals are quite interesting and original, my favorites for now are Lucifer’s and Sun Wukong’s, however I have a question related to Wukong, he’s a shapeshifter that can become any type of animal but something I would like to know is ¿can he take the form of another person too? ¿Can he imitate someone else’s appearance?
Since humans are animals then yes the answer is yes
Sun wukong form is not even restricted if u also consider them also turning into objects and yes I was only using info from the real sun wukong but maybe will see it in the book, who knows ![]()

I would say that is because you put Janus into a no win scenario. First, you put a condition of Not Goku decided to destroy the earth on a wimp and there is no way to change it - that narrowing the future path -. Second, you put on condition that Janus has to defeat Not Goku - that further narrowing the path - The ability to see EVERY SINGLE paths of the future is extremely OP, Janus can manipulate Not Superman to fight Not Goku, Janus can manipulate Not Goku to not destroying the Earth. Hell, if Janus has been living long enough, he/she could just prevent Not Goku from being born. Absolute power is meaningless when a guy can see your future and change it before you even being born.
Yeah, that seems to be their point. No one is arguing that Janus cannot seize the future to their advantage, only that without preparation (or even with it), there are some opponents Janus has no chance of defeating.
On that note, Janus’ limitation is an oddity. They can only see three people at once, but that computational power should also account for the movements of everyone around the target. As such, Janus shouldn’t have any blindspots.
E.g. if Janus fights the Praetors, and if Janus sees only the Praetors’ future, they should see that the endpoint would be Hailey holding their allies at gunpoint.
Either that Janus’ powers need to be reworked, or that their playthough should be extremely different from other Fables - in that Janus should be following an all-powerful script leading to whatever goal they want.
So everything happens according to their plan. See Contessa, she’s compelling and extremely powerful, and this is underscored, and not removed by, her power to see the future and get whatever outcome she wants.
Though Janus probably will avoid seeing the end result through most of the battle. After all, If he use too much of his power and/or see too far in the future they’ll have a hell of a time later. I noticed that up untill now we haven’t really accounted for theyr actual weakness
Time is constant theres no such thing as end result. What the future tomorrow becomes the present and so on, so there no such thing as end result, but infinite future, thats why its dangerous for Janus because the infinite future can consume his mind.
I feel like with Lucifer when the judge asks him who he is and with the revaluation that he’s satin lucifer should of been like Adam and Eve? Oh those two clowns I pranked. Yea that was funny.
