(WIP) Broken Fable [220k Public, Updated 5/7/24]

I don’t see your point. Zeus and Lucifer are both addicts but neither of their weaknesses would slow them in a fight.

The only issue I can see with implementing this weakness in the current game is when the MC is helped by the Shaded Lady, as its not a physically debilitating weakness like the others. But that could be changed to Ishtar losing their crown to the mugger and The Shaded Lady retrieving it for her. If the author went with the idea of the crown tempering their enthralling presence.

I’m not trying to start a debate just stating my opinion that’s all. Beyond that you think as you will. I rather not debate what’s better or not as this is not my story. I see the characters as separate and try not to debate it too much but the reason whose better or whatever you are talking about. I’m seeing it not entirely as battle. But as a person and what makes them, them.

But I should clarify myself a bit I suppose

Ishtar is a goddess and yes author does mention the events of their origins don’t match up to our history or knowledge of them. But Ishtar is a goddess of war love and fertility. I list the last one as significant as fertility means more than…coughs that. It symbolizes the creation of life.

So Ishtar having a weakness of unable to live without life is just a nice touch. Nothing more and nothing less amigo.

Also to add more onto Ishtar’s weakness. Lilies also have a good symbolisms as they symbolize femininity, love, purity and grief. A good showing of who Ishtar is and could be

Zeus suffers from withdrawal which can slow someone down in a fight and Lucifer needs blood to survive the same way Ishtar requires lilies

Normally I wouldn’t have continued this but you’ve said you don’t want a debate… and then continued the debate.

So…

Sources I found with a quick google search:

As you have said Ishtar is the Goddess of War and Fertility/Sex/Love. But in this case fertility explicitly refers to sex and attractiveness, specifically female attractiveness. It does not have anything to do with plant life or mother nature. Her cults temples practised temple prostitution. Many of the tales we know about her involve romantic entanglements, which usually end up poorly for her lovers. She almost has as bad a track record as Zeus does now that I think of it when it comes to former lovers meeting horrible fates. Hell in the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh rejects her for this very reason and she then proceeds to prove him right by setting loose the Bull of Heaven on Uruk.

Regardless Ishtar has nothing to do with nature or plants so your point is invalid. If the author wants to take her down this route that’s fine. Its not my preference but its not my story. I just think that they should stick to the basic elements of the character that are put forward by the original myths and story’s and not add additional themes or aspects which would change their character drastically.

That’s fair but having civilians run towards you while your trying to fight because they are enthralled by your presence would be a nightmare to deal with especially in a urban area.

Perhaps INGAME Ishtar took some traits from IRL-legengs Enkidu, Gilgamesh’s friend created by gods?

Enkidu embodies the wild or natural world. Though equal to Gilgamesh in strength and bearing, he acts in some ways as an antithesis to the cultured, city-bred warrior-king.

Maybe INGAME Ishtar later was split in two separate entity: INGAME-legend Ishtar and INGAME-legend Enkidu?

Hm I was thinking that but wasn’t exactly sure about it. An interesting connection considering how the two interacted in said epic.

The only ‘ever present’ weakness during a fight is Sun Wukong’s honestly.

Arthur’s bloodlust would also always be a problem during a fight.

Nah, the bloodlust is more of a problem for AFTER the fight.

I mean that depends on the fight I guess. If it doesn’t matter who they kill or how much destruction they cause yeah it’s probably fine. But if that does matter for pragmatic reasons or moral ones their weakness would probably be quite hindering as they would need to remain in control to avoid snapping like we saw in their fight.

I mean you kinda get a glimps of what happens if you let Arthur snap when fighting dawn. And choose the beg choice the dialog there is awesome and gives a rough idea of how powerful Arthur really is.

Hello Everybody! I am just popping in to let you all know that I will upload the Sun Wukong update by July 30th 8pm EST. The chapter is complete, but I want extra time to review it before I upload. The game now stands at 135k words long. It was a ton of fun to work on this path; I got a little unhinging writing this one with some of the transformations!

Other than that, I have nothing else to report. I hope everybody has a good weekend!

If there was an origin path similar to Vandal Savage from DC Universe in this game, I wonder how strong would our MC be. Might be OP to some extent. Think of all the experience and powers/abilities you could get from your journey.

This is very random but it must be known. I hope you know that with this next fight im imagining my (F) Sun Wukong dressed as a cow boy and ordering the Cloud praetor to stick ‘em up. It has brought me endless amusement.

It’s “Cloud” Praetor.

Sun Wukong would definitely intentionally use the wrong word cause they thought it was funny

Like the Fart Praetor or something?
