(WIP) Broken Fable [220k Public, Updated 5/7/24]

Okay, couldn’t Pele just sink into the Earth where she is safe from Jordan and his supersoaker and just cause an eruption like she did in Edmonton beneath the arrogant prick?? Game over, Pele wins. What if they fight in a desert? Can Jordan create water from nothing or does he need a source? The way I see it the only way for Pele to legit lose against Jordan is for him to ambush her before she can crank up the heat or sink into the Earth or something similar. What about throwing her miniature sun at him? No amount of water is going to stop that as it would all be vaporized instantly if it got to close.

Ah, i hadnt seen that. In that case, fair enough. I do still think it would be a very hard fought battle.

So I’ve been reading through, again, and it just dawned on me, Eris is Zeus’s daughter, at least in mythology. I’m really hoping that DrDense keeps this aspect in the story. It would add a whole bunch of awesome angst to playing as Zeus.

Also for some reason I imagine the sound Godzilla’s atomic breath makes when powering up as what it sounds like when Zeus charges their powers.

God dammit that’s such an incredible headcanon and I’m totally stealing it.

She’s the daughter of Nyx in most myths. I think she’s the daughter of Zeus only in the Iliad.

And I think it would be pretty weird to make one MC have child. Especially one who’s a main antagonist.

Eh, author did a similar thing Ares, wouldn’t say it’s that unlikely

If I remember correctly Eris is the daughter of Nyx and sister of Ares, in mythology, so it would be possible that she and an MC Zeus have a kinship bond

Someone already corrected them and said that the author was talking about Franz Werther not Jordan Werther.

Looks like we can reasonably assume that Jordan is included in this scenario.

But the author doesn’t outright say that Jordan would win, just that he is stronger then his grandfather, well Hans said it, but seriously who trusts anything that comes out of cloud c***s mouth.

Thing is author also said in another ask that Franz would likely win. If Jordan really is stronger than Franz that means he has an even better chance of beating Pele. I also wouldn’t discount Cloudy’s assessment of Jordan. He may be an ass who underestimated the MC but I doubt even he would lie about his teammate’s strength. His disdain for Kaya was because he thought she was dead weight and he seems to really value the strength of the Praetors. I doubt he would show approval for someone if they didn’t meet his crazy high standards.

Agreed you can say a lot of things about Hans but it’s clear the dude respects power so I doubt that’s something he would lie about.

Agreed, honestly, a Jordan in water could make for a really cool boss fight. I’m just imagining Ishtar flying around, trying to dodge as Jordan starts firing building-sized glaciers at her.

All the fables have a weakness. The author chose water for Pele.

If not at source, then I guess so? But when magma is connected, it doesn’t cool. It actually boils the ocean depths instead, where it’s open, continously. Underwater magma flows, fyi. So, yes, if not connected, no if connected. Technically, the scene we were part of, going Nova. Jordan would have evaporated like everybody else. Not enough water would cool that off.

Because of its authors decision, Jordan wins regardless.

Gonna be honest, I’m not sold on the Timur twist.

Sound more like something you’d pull out for a sequel after you already at least made Yoru strong enough that the Elders and Praetors are back to a delicate equilibrium and fulfilled your promise to her mom.

It would also make the Dad reveal a lot stronger since you already made her as powerful as possible with what she got from her mom and now she unlocked something that open a whole new level of power for her to grow into.

Same for Buddha only being ‘a little stronger’ than us when in the Sun Wukong origin, he stomp us like crazy and nothing really said we got massively stronger since so just being told now that he wasn’t that much stronger after he’s already dead sound like a waste.

I agree about Yoru getting a powerup too early but I’m indifferent to the Timur reveal. He gives us a reason to work with the Praetors at least.

I don’t mind Buddha being a little stronger (at least compared to SW) since SW was pretty young when they fought. On top of not having centuries of experience, SW’s powers also require them to understand what they are shapeshifting into. Having centuries to understand the properties of various materials and the bodies of animals would give SW an edge that they didn’t have then.

That’s actually my problem with Timur, it kill the entire conflict the previous two chapters were building AND the entire reason you’re even taking care of Yoru and training her.

By all intent and purpose, the Praetors and Elders are at peace now, Yoru isn’t in any danger anymore and your promise is fulfilled, all of it through stuff you had nothing to do with. It’s really anticlimactic.

Hell, you don’t even end up training Yoru to a level where she doesn’t easily get killed by two Praetors.

The problem isn’t Buddha only being a little stronger by itself, the problem is that he’s portrayed as invincible and then you’re told post-death ‘he wasn’t actually THAT strong’ with nothing in-between or hinting that the power dynamic changed since then.

I feel like it’s heavily implied each fable gets stronger, they all had at least thousands of years to get stronger.

Sure but Buddha was by far the strongest character introduced so far, I think closing the gap to him should have a bit more fanfare than happening offscreen and only being mentioned in an offhanded response to a question.

Like at least have Buddha go ‘At least with X’s progress, there’s still hope even if I fall now’ or something as he dies.

Also another aspect of surpassing Buddha just like that which I find strange is your weakness if you’re Sun Wukong. Your weakness directly come from Buddha so why can’t you escape it no matter what despite being almost as strong as him, Buddha seemingly needing you for a fight you VERY MUCH can’t afford to have a weakness for (and that you’ve already fought at his side) AND Buddha, the source of the curse, seemingly being dead?

He even send you a dangerous power up as he dies but he doesn’t think to undo the curse?

I’m a broken record but this is why Ishtar is the best.

Her story is one with the least contradiction, her weakness can also be easily covered without having to kill or hurt others.
Also she bodied the Ruby Praetor’s team. Very fun.

Does SW have monkey ears and tail at least?
I imagine that would be super cute :monkey:
