I’m aware, that’s not me criticizing the game, I only meant to say it’s still funny. Surely I’m not the only one who finds Jade dragon playthroughs humorous.
Well yeah lol, being op is fun
Also seriously how do you send Bo off the cliff
Another poll bahahah
- Blacksmith
- Herbalist
- Merchant
- Trapper
Which is the best background ?
*selectable_if (leonagone > 0) #"Leona, throw Bo off the cliff."
That option is currently bugged, and only becomes enabled if you get rid of Leona first:
#"I meant 'Do you want to LEAVE'." [Throw her overboard]
//...
"You'll thank me later, now get
swimming! I'll see you in Nanhou!"
*set leonagone 1
It’s an option for male MC who has Leona as trainer. You can either make a move on her early in Ch.6, or do that.
Let’s make this poll again when the roc gets intelligence/turns into yokai
Not a bug, leona has been keeping pace with us the whole time and needed to throw bo to let off some steam (Damn, I expect a very angry Leona in that timeline. How do you throw her off?)
If we look from a pure grind perspective, it’s the merchant… For the rest I prefer the Trapper especially because it’s connected to the Midorikatai style. It’s also a background that make sense, if we consider the environment where the Mc live, and it explain why the Mc (at least my Mc), can be well physically capable and why he has a good fighting instict and survival ability. I admit it’s very Kid Goku like, especially if you go with a Yokay Monkey.
I also really like the Blacksmith background.
I look at things from a pure stat perspective (it’s just how I play) Trapper and blacksmith give a hidden additional stat (blacksmith gives hand seals and trapper gives stealth). Blacksmith gives you equipment that lets you get an additional core in power or fortitude. However trapper gives good stats to rob the thunder fall sect blind. It’s a toss up for me. There is a craft check later for 3 craft and gives 10 AP (a lot) in which the blacksmith helps with that. Hard to choose
Nevermind Trapper it is. Robbing the thunder fall sect gives you an item that gives you a ton of AP.
Ehh, all of them make sense given where the MC lives. I mean, the herbalist background has MC’s dad run alchemy shop, and foraging makes as much sense as hunting. Same for having a blacksmith in the village, or a merchant.
well i’d have to choose trapper because i like big birb with attitude. end of story.
i don’t see much interaction in other background. only see option to cook up med for retainer to fight random guy so far
btw… is there any more interaction with the entity you help masking before you leave village ?
Only some foreshadowing in chapter 7, but it’s imminent foreshadowing.
Some more free, no strings attached AP? Thanks, Anon!
Actually all backgrounds give 2 stats here is a list of the stats recieved from background:
Blacksmith-> Beating Jack gives +Perception and then choosing to use your weapon gives + Handseals
Herbalist-> Throwing Jack off the cliff gives +Lore and then taking the healing elixir gives +Thievery
Trapper-> Taunting Jack gives +Athletics and +Stealth
Merchant-> Using handseal gives +Insight and if you told your father about the thief early on then you can choose to actually curse Jack and get +Alchemy
Edit: Btw if you have 2 Handseals you can gain Northern seal which you can use with the 4 ritual components you get while looting and get that 10 AP saving you 1 skill point in craft(If you already have 2)
My favourite path is Herbalist but considering most AP is gained through Merchant it’s a close second. I have been able to end chapter 3 with 1000+ AP while getting all the skills I like getting.
I would say Wolf Yokai+Merchant+Sacred is probably one of the top paths you can take.
With merchant you can get commerce up to 119% which comes in handy later in Nanhou
Wait, what? That’s nuts. You can barely get it to something like 5-6% on other paths.
@cultivator-anon please cap Alchemy skill at 1 for anyone but herbalists. It’s only fair /s
That sounds like a bug
I remember at some point in the story our MC stated that they “suppress their power” due to not being strong enough/have enough backing (chapter 2 or 3 iirc)
This might be the reason why those with 1k ~ 1k5 AP find it appealing to challenge us while in reality they are the prey for our Jade Dragon
