I haven’t played in ages, since I wanted the demo to progress. I wish to start playing once the demo is as close to the end as possible. I don’t like to have my story come to an abrupt end. That being said, perhaps now is a good time to start?
You might be waiting a year for the end, we’re at 400k words and still have the entire Trials plus anything that comes up during them to get to the finale of the book. We might be at the halfway point when chapter 6 comes out, I hope. As for playing again, I’ve only dropped one big update back in the end of January (100k words). This one will be a little bigger I believe so if you’re feeling antsy then I’d wait until the next update.
After Chapter 7 I will probably start releasing smaller updates at a time but I’m stubborn with chapter 6 and chapter 7 will be in Nanhou which I plan to be a large hub so I have so much writing to do before letting people even start in it.

It’s not, I don’t know where you got that idea. Several female rulers had harems and Harems aren’t any less consensual than any other relationship involving royalty.
Those are cases of polygamie, not Harems, Harems are a specific structure and in the huge majority of the middle east, all the spouses have given consent (at least officially, if it turns out the consent was coerced, the marriage can be annulled and the family of the man will be forced to still provide for the woman no matter what) and men who take women against their wills are punished by death.
The middle east isn’t a nice place for women but let’s not exaggerate by saying every slightly wealthy dude there with 2 wives is some rape monster.

I agree with @bl00dragon it’s gotten semi political among other things at this point. now topic change anyone curious what it is that Tao is even planning to use the Demon gates for aside from just conquest or something else generic evil twits like him do?

Clone Tao wanted to become a real boy and I sort of assumed overthrowing OG Tao was the next step of the plan anyway. Do we even know if the original Tao is still alive? It would be really funny if Clone Tao did all that to impress Geppetto even though he’s already in the dirt. Curbstomped by someone stronger and smarter, and the demon gate plan hijacked.

It doesn’t seem to be even this complicated, the clones simply want to stay alive – their artificial nature means they need the chi to keep ticking, so they seek a way to acquire permanent supply that’d allow them just that. I don’t think they care about the original, the last chatterbox hasn’t made any mention of him in the grand finale speech (or before it)
