The ending was terrible in my opinion. You spent hundreds of hours building up to this point only to arrive and get told by some ghost kid you only have three choices and that is the color explosions you’d like to see in the final cinematic. It was very anticlimactic for me.
I wanted closure to my Shepard’s journey and got none. She would never get to have those little blue children she promised Liara. Nope its pick blue, green, or red. These are your choices. Everything that happened along Shepard’s journey is now made pointless by picking some arbitrary color…What even happened to the crew or those back on Earth? We don’t know. What happens now that the relays are destroyed? What happened to the Quirians after Legion sacrificed himself so the Geth would help them adjust to their world faster? What happens to the Krogan now that the genophage is cured thanks to Mordin’s sacrifice? Guess it doesn’t matter because you get to pick the color of the nifty explosion at the end, totally worth going through all you did for this.
Sorry, its been years and this still makes me bitter. Bioware had this amazing story and they not only dropped the ball in the last few minutes of the game they were about to win but I think they actually gave up. The story was there but the ending was well…
OH, also choosing between the two people in the second season, then choosing whether you go with them…aaaannd I don’t know how to do a spoiler tag so I can’t elaborate. Help?
Waiting through 2 mass effect games as a male to do the romance with kaden just so I can have romance every way or romance with vas Normandy through to games to see what’s behind the mask
The game was straightforward in choices easy da was fun but easy to guess what’s going on and ethics were shallow up until the inquisition then it was kinda difficult who should I back and bulls chargers or the quine
Anyways, spoilers for walking dead season 2 vidja gamez ahead:
I love Kenny. He’s a dick, but I love him. I know he would keep Clementine safe physically, but she is smart enough to know that he is losing his humanity. As a person who loves him, and cares for him, she knows he isn’t managing any more. He is losing his attachment to reality. The baby helped for a bit, but Clem can’t use the baby as a way to keep him sane, or as a target to make him crazy. I let Jane kill Kenny. Then I held his hand as he died, cried for him, and told him he’d see Katjaa and Duck again, and that I’m sorry it had to go that way. I did it for Kenny, not because I wanted Jane to live, but because Kenny had to go. Then when Jane pulled the baby out, Clem realized how crazy this woman was, and how, though Jane would teach her and protect her, Clem knows there’s more to life than simply being strong- the way she used Luke (I like to think my Clementine crushed on him), the way she treated Sarah…Clementine can and has looked after herself. She’s learned what she needs to. If she could find Christa again, that would be great, because it was still about family then, and about caring for one another, not manipulation. Clementine needs people to teach her about humanity now. About not giving up on people, though it’s easier to do so. That’s why Clementine left Jane. It’s just Clem and the baby now, but I think they’ll be just fine.
I agree with you both. Out of all the endings, this one felt the most “right”; Kenny needed a mercy kill just as much as Lee did, and how could Clem ever trust Jane again after that?
Hmm… I’d say in games like Mass Effect and Life is strange you are making that final decision over the course of entire game… Starting by finishing your first quest and further you go - the more your character decides for you, based on the your solutions of previous problems. For every death caused by reapers or effort to stop them( oh legion) every sacrifice that your friends made it changed my shepard and in the end only one choice made any sense. And for me options were as follows: playing God(green one… Forcefully making everyone half synth half organic never appealed to me, even less than genocide of entire race, that thought is hard for swallow. I mean cmon… It’s like trying to end racism by making everyone same skin color Treating symptoms, not the problem.), playing with fire(never even considered blue), and red( aka let the Galaxy decide freely what will happen) staying in role of mine Shepard only red made any sense, making sure that every sacrifice counts, living with that choice was another matter(well Shepard survives at least eh). I had to go all over again to" build" green Shepard but tbh I failed. Not my thing even if it is considered best ending with LiS I’ve chosen Saving Chloe. Even if price is too high… I love the story where human will can defy everything, even time, to save person that is important to him/her. Even with all the consequences. And not necessarily important as in romantic way. on the topic… Two games that I’ve chosen are from the genres that you will rarely consider for deep thoughts. But well I found them really meaningful.
Spec ops: The Line while there’s no actual choice until the very end of the game, and only choice you get is to decide how exactly things that happened affected your mind… Staring down that mirror listening to those guitar chords and things like “US military strongly condemns killing of unarmed civilians. But this is a video game, so why should you care?” and " Do you feel like a hero yet?"… That scene burned itself in my mind and kinda changed the way I treat videogames in general.
And second one is Darkness 2.
all this thing with asylum and not so real world… Decision to pick wich one is real for you… And that you can condemn love of your life to eternal torment, or jump off the roof just by making wrong choice… That was one of the hardest for me.
When given the option to hunt down your father’s killer or stay with him to hear his last words. That was a tough one and it was right at the very beginning of the game!!! And resulted in a completely different story arc of which there were three in that game. The only game I’ve known to have drastically different paths. Even a ‘joke’ story line. Best mech game ever!!
Mine is also that choice from Dragon Age Inquisition. That choice for me was Loghain and Hawke. Loghain became one of my favorite characters by the end I always killed or made Alistair a drunk since I was never to fond of his character. I was actually mad at Bioware for making me choose, and that Mordin scene in ME3 is one of the few times I have shed a tear for a game.
Wow, you guys have it bad. My biggest decision doesn’t even come close…
All I had to do was choose between saving the life of a good friend or the life of a wrongly accused criminal, which the player has also become friends with. Worst thing is, the two of them have actually become best friends after it’s discovered the criminal was innocent the whole time…
“Alright! I knew you wouldn’t let me down, bro.” Jude grins and claps me on the shoulder.
“Yah, Yah. OK where’s the stuff?” Jude reaches into the garbage bin he’s been leaning on and pulls out a small garbage bag. I blink at him and his grin stretches further. We walk down into the parking garage. I pop my trunk and Jude nestles the felonious cargo into the back corner of the compartment.
“Excellent! OK so only like two or three days, man, I swear. I gotta run now but I’ll stop by and see you tonight.” Jude walks off and I go back up to my apartment. I decide to finish my macaroni and have a small nap before I start my shift. I’ve still got three hours till then so I curl up in my recliner and doze off, after setting my alarm of course. My alarm wakes me up at 8:00PM sharp. I quickly have another shower and down a cup of coffee.
Despite the nap I still feel sluggish. I grab my uniform and make my way down to the garage. The streets are considerably quieter than they were this afternoon, I love driving at night so much better. Jude starts texting me again, he says he might have already found a buyer for that stuff.
I start to text him back when my car jolts violently and spins out. I drop my phone and slam on the brakes. I come to a screeching halt in the middle of an intersection. The night is silent. I’m in a quiet part of town and there are no cars around. I peer in front of my car and see the body of a teenager bathed in the light of my headlamps. There’s a dent in my hood and some blood spatter on it. I get a sick feeling in my stomach. I can’t tell if the kid is dead or not but he’s definitely injured. My car idles in the intersection, there are still no cars around.
This is bad, very bad. I don’t know what to do. If I stay and try to help the kid I’m going to be in deep shit. I was texting while driving and will probably get my license taken away. Plus I have enough drugs in my trunk to go to prison for ten years.
If I just speed off I’m home free, no one was around to see this unfortunate accident. I just can’t help thinking that this kid will die if I don’t help him. Helping this kid and putting myself at risk is…
-wrong
-right
This choice is from Dilemma. It’s kind of undermined by the fact that not holding the drugs for Jude turns out fine, but it’s still a tough choice.
